Has to be Muric.
Sets the tone for how we play, knows how we play and has done absolutely nothing to be even considered to be dropped.

Re: Muric or Trafford
I'm no goalkeeping authority, but It certainly looks like Muric has had a clear edge in pre-season.
Is it beyond the bounds of credibility that Muric may currently be in the shop window? The lad from Orient (?) looks a bit too useful to be just making the tea.

Muric - deserves his chance and looks to be the better keeper currently.

My Intel says Trafford starts
Re: Muric or Trafford
So does my head... Everything points to it
Re: Muric or Trafford
Muric.
He looked the better of the two in pre-season. Trafford has time on his side and needs to get to grips with how VK will want him to operate. He doesn't need to be rushed into the first team. Muric was shaky at the start of last season but was superb after the World Cup which shows it takes time to bed in. There's certainly no need to panic if Trafford doesn't start.

It has to be Muric. Last season apart from the odd error, (which every keeper has, no matter how good they are) he was immense. Even in pre season, he’s looked good.

Re: Muric or Trafford
I honestly don’t think there’s many keepers in World Football that have the ability with the ball that Muric does.
It’s up there in Allison/Ederson levels for me - from watching Traffords highlights and views from Bolton fans as well as his performances in our preseason he looks a good way off Muric’s footballing ability (which is pivotal to how we play) but does look to be a promising shot stopper.
Bolton fans have made comment that he’s a bit unsure with the high ball and we all know how much Burnley fans get on keepers that flap at it - he even did this in his pre season outing against Genk.
Far too early for me to start a youngster at goalkeeper, it’s absolutely Muric’s shirt to lose.

I’m stunned. Got the back 4 and MF correct but I doubt many got the two wide outs.

Re: Muric or Trafford
Thought Trafford wasn't too bad last night, and obviously early days for the lad but i don't see him being a commanding presence in the 6 yard box that Muric often was last term. Thought Muric was really good towards the end of the season.
Trafford looks pretty good as well though, so it's a nice problem to have.

Re: Muric or Trafford
Trafford did OK last night, but I’m still fairly flabbergasted that VK went with him in the first place.

Threw him in at the deep end to see if he'd sink or swim, probably the thinking behind it.
Bit of a free hit against City, as mentioned on here.

Re: Muric or Trafford
I was concerned to be honest. Thought the last thing a young lad would need was having to deal with the fall out from shipping 5/6 on his PL debut.
Needn’t have worried, thought he did well overall.
And besides, I’m sure VK knows exactly what he’s doing.

Re: Muric or Trafford
I think it's time to try Muric and see how it goes. Trafford had a number of close calls again last night and he just isn't quick enough with his feet for me. Absolutely a top shot stopper, but it's time to try something different because we are well into the season now and are struggling, especially at set pieces and I know Muric had serious weaknesses in coming for catches towards the start of last season, but he definitely got better and better and his height and reach absolutely HAS to give him some presence.
Just give it a go because as it stands we need to look for ways to win. Swallow your pride VK and give him a go for a few games, let's see how he gets on.

Re: Muric or Trafford
Muric if only to give Trafford a break. Watching Trafford flap at every cross is becoming miserable. Muric wasn’t much better when he started but improved massively in the second half of the season.

Re: Muric or Trafford
Typical of him yesterday a great save followed up by a pathetic attempt from the resulting corner. If only goalkeepers could jump and have the added advantage of being able to use their hands in the penalty box.
He’s like a modern day Chris Pearce or Mark Kendall.

Trafford nearly let in a third yesterday with a careless attempt at a kick resulting in him slipping. No idea why we're not giving Muric or even Vigoroux a chance.

Re: Muric or Trafford
Trafford in the reserves.
Personally I would like to see Tom Heaton back at Burnley at 37 he is capable and still seems to be doing well.
"On 10 January 2023, Heaton started his first match for United in the EFL Cup game against Charlton Athletic, keeping a clean sheet in a 3–0 victory to help United qualify for the semi-finals.[66] On 1 February 2023, he started in the second leg of the semi-final against Nottingham Forest, keeping another clean sheet as his team won 2–0 on the night (5–0 on aggregate) to reach the final."

Been saying it for a few weeks, but he has to swallow his pride now. He’s backed the wrong horse. I don’t think he will though.
Re: Muric or Trafford
Has to be Muric just to change the dynamic. Both keepers are wuss's in front of their goal but it is all about mindset nothing else.

Re: Muric or Trafford
Reminds me of the Hart Heaton debate and how things changed after Heaton came back and started bossing the defence..
Trafford isn’t up to PL standard - I hope he is soon or we’ve blown an arm and a couple of legs on him that we won’t get back.
His passing is often scary and reckless, he isn’t rotected at corners and flaps too much.
I found Muric scary too, but we need a few changes soon!!

Must be harder for managers to drop keepers at a guess. We saw how reluctant Dyche was to drop Hart when it was clearly long overdue to most outside observersSwizzlestick wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 3:07 pmBeen saying it for a few weeks, but he has to swallow his pride now. No idea how good the 3rd choice keeper is, but I'd guess the bigger percentage of fans prefer Muric to Trafford....or at least to give him the chance to regain the shirt.....no good being a world beater in training if you can't do it when it counts !boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sun Dec 17, 2023 6:11 pmYep, you are right, he's picking Trafford because he's the worst of the 3.

I agree that it should have been Muric's shirt to lose.
We can only guess why he didn't start the season as No1 choice.
But nobody can honestly be sure that Muric would do better than Trafford has done.

Probably get slated for this but, Murich, Vithino/Roberts, Ekdal, Al Dahkil, Taylor, with Beyer just in front of the defence, the rest of the team perm any 5 from 12

Muric by a country mile.
Trafford MAY one day be a proper Prem keeper but right now? He's not up to the job.
