This thread is like me going to Disney knowing full well I’ll pay $15 for a Big Mac at Disney at then complaining I paid $15 for a Big Mac at Disney
Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
I was driving Friday so didn't buy a pint, are they really £6 now?
If so I won't be buying one all season to go along with refusing to pay the prices charge for the shirts.
Absolute joke

I await seeing the new system myself but why we don't sell bottled beers from fridges/cool boxes to ease the queues for the bar is beyond me. Works very well in other stadiums.

Re the bottle tops being removed - all the grounds I’ve been too over the years have done this
We were the only ground where I’ve seen them served with them on

When would you ever have a pie at 3:45pm if you weren’t at football.

Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
I went down to the CFS concourse at half time and was disappointed to see that nothing seemed to have changed. Still long queues for a beer (no surprise in that stand), no changes to concourse layout or ordering systems despite the analysis that apparently occurred at the end of last season.
I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly the queue went down though. Probably helped by the machines pouring multiple pints at once. Great stuff. Not too keen on the price for San Miguel, however. Did anyone notice whether there was a cheaper option for beer? I'm hoping that San Miguel was priced as a premium beer.
Like someone else suggested, I assume there are still ongoing deals with suppliers that have restricted change somewhat this summer. I'd like to think the range of food and drinks available will continue to change and improve over time.

When pie is available you eat pie.
Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
£2.40 for a small cup of tea but the bonus is it has real milk this season. £2 was pushing it. I’ll take a flask next time. Is it quicker with the machines ? Probably a bit but it would help if people thought about why they wanted before they got to the machines. In summary I can’t be bothered with it.
Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
I think the hot drinks are reasonable. Probably in line or cheaper than similar entertainment venues like a cinema or theatre.
Things are just expensive these days, wherever you go.

Yes, it now costs £9 pm for a prize money draw and the chance to possibly get an away ticket from the small number put to one side for Foundation members . The 20% off match day drinks in the Zone and 10% off club shop goods has now been withdrawn.

Poor do if you can’t go two hours without having to have something to eat or drink.

No they're not. They are charging more for less.
The cup is barely half full!
Isn't that called shrinkflation?

For those wanting a hot drink , look out for the man with the portable van outside the fanzone. Excellent quality at a very good price .

I always buy a quality pie from the butchers, full of meat and a third of the price.

It's part of the occasion. In the olden days mum and dad would pack sandwiches and a flask and you got the occasional treat of eating out. Now it's the norm to eat out.Jambounchained wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 11:16 amPoor do if you can’t go two hours without having to have something to eat or drink.
People have the choice to pay these prices or not. Plenty of cheaper alternatives outside the ground.
Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
It's a football stadium, not a car boot. You ain't gonna get a cup of Tetley in a polystyrene cup for 50p
It's a completely optional service, don't buy it if you don't like the price.
Probably tell the kids we've got coffee at home when they want a Starbucks some of you lot

Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
Went down to where the lottery/foundation office was a couple of weeks ago and all in darkness so went to the ticket office to ask why and to see if they were giving out the foundation discount cards. Was told that after covid the foundation staff lost their jobs and now the foundation kiosk is only open on match days,he had no idea about the cards.Poor do if true,we used to have our own pre-match lounge and evening events for members plus ties, key rings and pens.Did manage to use the old card for 10% off in club shop but reading above it seems like that benefit has now gone!

The foundation staff were out in numbers at the match trying to recruit new Foundation members. The line was that they were only told on Thursday that these benefits had been withdrawn.

Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
The price is the price, captive audience etc. Premium leisure offering. I can accept it.
The quality though is something else. The staff seemed new. They were teaching each other how to use the tills. The pies were Hollands once inside not Haffners. No self order kiosks in Longside Upper, the premium stand of the ground. No good Levy UK and Ireland menu as seen at Watford and elsewhere. No Hobgoblin IPA which was on sale in the fanzone (not brilliant but an OK pint).
It seemed appalling, a total shambles. Really disappointed after turning down the chance to get Haffners, IPA or pizza in the fanzone.
This is where, referencing Pace’s frustration in Mission to Burnley at always wanting to go 100 miles an hour, it is staggering how even basic improvements aren’t yet in place after a 3 month break. I can’t believe he is happy with it, because so many of us will now take our food and drink money elsewhere, first impressions for a season count for a lot.

Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
Very true! We went to York last week for 6 hours and didn't have anything to eat or drink. We always think its a complete waste of money. Some people don't seem to be capable of going shopping without eating and its one of the reasons the uk is an overweight nation.Jambounchained wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 11:16 amPoor do if you can’t go two hours without having to have something to eat or drink.
Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
Had this said before. I bought a bottle of water with plastic top on could drink through. That was left on. Pretty sure that is worse than normal tops as slightly pointed as well.Bob Lorder wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 8:04 amBought a pie and bottle of Fanta before the game £6:80 …. The health point is a good one and also worth remembering that not eating or drinking for 6 hours is not recommendedVenkys4eva wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 11:46 amVery true! Can't believe we've gone from excitement of a new prem season to taking our own pies and bottle tops
Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
To be fair it's expensive everywhere now.
Recently went to the y not festival in Derbyshire and the prices there were a lot worse than the turf.
Think it cost around £14 quid for burger and chips and 15 quid for a Greek gyros with cans of lager and cider about 6.50.

Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
This signals the end of my direct debit to the Foundation, having been a member since the beggining when we had the lounge and a nice pin badge. I have never once managed to secure an away ticket through Foundation membership.
When I bought the lads their new kits last month I used the Foundation card and got 10% I then handed my season ticket over only to be told I can't get the points as well as discount. Odd I thought as pay for the membership and also the season ticket.
It doesn't appear they need the money now.

Thank God you moaning old gits won’t be buying another pint or a pie again due to a small price increase. At least i will get served a little quicker now. Geez some folks on here need to take a good hard look at themselves.

I went to AAMI Park in Melbourne today. Rugby league game, Melbourne Storm v Canberra Raiders. My first visit this season. They don’t sell pints, only half’s. Lager £5.50 & Pale Ale £6.25 for half.

Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
People complaining at the prices at a prem ground is pretty naive to say the least . Some of the curmudgeons moaning about 20p prices and “ no real ale “ etc . Prem football is prime corporate entertainment and priced like most concert arenas , theatres etc . While the sheer chaos of having to queue twice for a drink was amateurish in the extreme , it’s simply a facility being offered .
Personally grabbing a pre match pie of moderate quality and couple of quick pints and a bene on the ground with a few pals is my match day routine . Some may prefer to queue up in the butchers , get a skinful in town , eat nothing and moan or masturbate a horse ,everyone does their thing .

Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
As long as your healthy and have no problem maintaining sugar levels 6 hours is quite acceptable. It will vary from person to person but like anything else your body adapts to your lifestyle. If you constantly 'graze' you will constantly feel hungry and need food.

You lot were lucky!
In London
I paid 8 pounds for a flat pint of Peroni whilst getting out of the rain.

Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
No point moaning about price. Nobody pay it and the price will drop, but enough will keep paying so they'll try at £7 next, that's just how it is.
The crap service is a justified whinge.

I'd say it's generally cheaper than those in terms of food and drink.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 1:13 pmPeople complaining at the prices at a prem ground is pretty naive to say the least . Go to the Spurs stadium for NFL for instance and prices for beers are higher, same with the Olympic Stadium. At Wimbledon last month it was £7.50 for a pint, I don't think any Premier League teams charge that, and last week I paid £22 for 3 pints in a bog standard pub (in London).

Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
I’m starting to think that the whole plan was to increase the price of the crap lager to the point it solves the queuing issues because nobody bothers buying it!
I arrived early on Friday, all hopeful that we’d have a nice new selection of beers and an ordering system that meant you wouldn’t have to spend twice as long queuing for it as drinking it. Queues were worse than ever and it was the same, but more expensive beer.
I’m not bothered about the cost. I don’t go out a lot so whether I spend £5 or £6 on a couple of beers doesn’t make a difference but I’m not keeping on paying for stuff I don’t like… and queuing an age for the privilege in a dreary grey concourse, so will just stay at home & have a few good beers before setting off… or go the pub instead.

I simply wouldn't pay it. I'd sooner buy a couple of cans and find a bench along the Thames Embankment than pay over seven quid a pint in a bog-standard London boozer.

“Can’t buy a white coffee…have to add your own milk
Less water put into cups”
That’s not a bad thing for me. Well, one or the other. Up to last season I always asked the person serving to only fill my pre-made coffee just over half full because they put so little coffee in those packs that it tastes like warm water.
I preferred it years ago when they put the coffee in in front of you in a polystyrene cup and ask you how much milk you wanted.

Add the kiosk screen/checkout inside the BFC app and reintroduce meal deals and its a winner. (I don't tend to have a beer as the offering isnt great)
queuing up twice isnt ideal.

Re: New food/drink rules at the Turf
Nothing seemed to be different in the CFS apart from the price. I’m surprised that they didn’t relocate the main bar to the dead space where the partition is with an obvious opportunity to get people to queue up without blocking access to the toilets and other areas.
For me that’s a no brainier and certainly could be done if they were willing to sort it.

I know the increase in added time is something of a concern, but i don't think we are likely to be captive in the Turf for anything like 6 hours just yet
