Re: Clarets v City match thread
Gutted about the lighter throw and the invader.
We’ve so much to proud of over the last decade and the last 12-16 months especially. We all saw from the Power Paddy advert how easy it is to stereotype BFC, the town itself and us fans.
The coverage before the game on Sky was so positive. The after game coverage will concentrate on the City performance but also our “hooligan” fanbase and no doubt “same old Burnley”.
Just like this result shouldn’t (and wont) derail the season we can’t allow a few knobheads to derail everything we’ve built as a fanbase and club.

What a pity.
Re: Clarets v City match thread
Blatant red. No maliciousness but absolutely a red. Good use of VAR.

Weird night. Played well for large parts but with the crowd issues and the sending off it all feels a bit flat

Shame that
He’d already started lunging for the ball before walkers pace got him in front of him, just so happened he caught Walker’s calf
Any other day he wouldn’t catch the leg

Very, very silly from Zaroury. It's a red all day long, even though it isn't malicious or a particularly hard tackle.

Never a pen. Foden got brought down in our box under the same pressure. Used to be meat & drink for Ben Mee

Re: Clarets v City match thread
Thing is there's people who defend those who throw lighters and invade pitches, they are from the same moronic stock as those who do it. There is no arguing or reasoning with them because they just simply don't care.

That’s not a red card. Never in a million years a red card
A red card is for endangering an opponent. That was a yellow but never a red

No malice involved as he was trying to hook the ball and Kyle walkers pace beat him but definite red unfortunately.

I'm not naffed off by the result because we had our moments against one of the best teams in the world. I'm more miffed off at Zaroury's inevitable ban.

I’m sorry but you don’t understand the rules if you think that’s a clear red. He didn’t endanger Walker.

Oliver couldn't wait to get the chance to give us a red card. I hope his next bowel movement is a large pineapple.

Re: Clarets v City match thread
It's a ckear red in today's game. Its not really intentional but you cant lunge in like that at all
Re: Clarets v City match thread
You can't start a game without a recognised LBwillsclarets wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 9:59 pmWeird night. Played well for large parts but with the crowd issues and the sending off it all feels a bit flat
Vitinho caught out for 1st goal at RB and culpable for 2nd at LB
CM weak again - saw one stat where Berge had the fewest touches of any player in the 1st half - just 6
But hey that was City
VK said before the game that tonight would be our poorest performance of the season
Learn and move on

Re: Clarets v City match thread
We played well against the best team in Europe . For once it wasn't 5 nil ( or 6 ) . I really really don't understand what gets into some people , don't they realise the harm thier actions does to our club ?
Re: Clarets v City match thread
We will have similar tackles to that against us this season that don't even get a yellow card. He lunged for the ball and caught him a little high, demonstrated by VAR to Pawson from the start point of the worst possible angle.
We did well for large parts of tonight.

Re: Clarets v City match thread
Always going to be difficult. Got to sort out our defending on set pieces particularly though. They didnt have a huge amount of chances really. Thought Larsen took up some good positions, and benson was lively. Foster will have a good season can just sense it. Loads to look forward to. Thank god them lot are out the way for now
