The Turf…

Post by CoolClaret » Sat Aug 12, 2023 11:48 am

… May I just say that our beloved Turf looked stunning last night; seems that we’ve had some extra LEDs added and it really makes the stadium pop during the night games.

Pitch was like a carpet as well - shame about the cricketfield end being a bit decrepit but one step at a time.

Not to mention the area direxrly outside of the ground looking a lot better as well, definitely massive positives there.

Be top once the Town 2 Turf scheme has been fully completed.

Happy place, happy place Turf Moor.

Just a pity that all the tripping hazards (the bases of the fencing wrongly positioned to protrude outside the compound rather than inside) were back again when exiting the North Stand and going up Ormerod Yard! I saw a number of fans trip and fall after the game.

Those “early leavers” have also reappeared.
The ones that are parked on the Carl park behind the north stand and have moved from their parking bay before the final whistle but unable to leave the car park

Anyway to feed that back Leisure?

No good having trip hazards like.

Really happy with everything else though - stark contrast to the stadium 10 years back

Looked good. I was wondering if some art (BFC related) could be painted across the back of the CFS. Looks proper old and dead from behind (as it is), some modern art depicting our past and present would be cool imo.

Yes, it's a bit of a squeeze getting out that way.

The club have installed a few electric car charging points, which adds to the congestion.

This is the next change for sure - I’m pretty confident that Alan will have plans in store.

There was also a large Transit type van parked diagonally out towards the Sky TV compound which made the exit very narrow, surely someone must be in control of parking in that area and see it was going to cause a problem. Once you could shuffle past it exit was smooth and quick up Ormerods Yard.

Not helped by the parking of vehicles (minibuses etc) in the way that weren't there before the game ...
Sureley these could be moved there after the bulk of the fans have left 🙄

The worst of which must be that section of sloping astroturf right at the pitch edge; I'm surprised that some away team's not complained about that before now, at some point, somebody's going to get hurt because of it.

The exit signs in the cricket field should be B F C instead of B C D

The 'lighting' in Ormerod yard can't have possibly passed any inspection - in fact, they probably did it in daylight. Throw in the aforementioned trip hazards and it certainly makes for an interesting exit.

Just about the daftest place they could have put them.

Such a good idea. Send it in to the club as a suggestion. Would be great if the club put out three artist proposals for the mural that we as fans could vote on.

I've received a response from the Club saying that they will look into the safety issues which I raised.

Might not work too well for the batters and bowlers. Need to remember it is a cricket ground

There were some flash cars parked outside the compound that were just in the way. Also, it's a bit risky to leave them there with thousands of football fans streaming right past them, I bet a few had marks on afterward.
