Looks like we could move off the bottom by 2.30!
Re: Today’s Footy (12/08)
Watching Coventry vs Middlesbrough and Middlesbrough look a shadow of the team they were last season.
Re: Today’s Footy (12/08)
Tough game for Forest today and just as with us last night, you can't look too deeply into it because of the opposition. But I think they'll struggle this season.

Re: Today’s Footy (12/08)
Going to be honest and miserable here.
All over again I’m already starting to hate the coverage, hype, favouritism and faux excitement from pundits and commentators alike with regards to Premier League football.

Re: Today’s Footy (12/08)
Need as many draws today in the Prem.
Re: Today’s Footy (12/08)
Brighton 1-0 Luton
Re: Today’s Footy (12/08)
Oh the worst part of being good in the Championship is it means you've got to watch the Premier League the next season.
Pundits saying "top top player", "top top manager", "top top stadium" on repeat... and all the weird little Arsenal fans from, I don't know, Shrewsbury for some reason, who can only speak about football if it includes FIFA card ratings.
And why is everything "iconic"?

Re: Today’s Footy (12/08)
Rovers losing
Re: Today’s Footy (12/08)
Watching footy scores come in on a Saturday with a dodgy stream of a game while out in your back garden when the stress of Burnley is out of the way for the weekend is just mint. I miss this as much as I do Burnley itself during the off season.
Re: Today’s Footy (12/08)
The oracle that is Clinton Morrison has just informed us that the Sheffield United/Crystal Palace game is “not lacking no quality”.Pickles wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 3:42 pmOh the worst part of being good in the Championship is it means you've got to watch the Premier League the next season.

I think he means it’s ****, but can’t be 100% sure.

Re: Today’s Footy (12/08)
Starting watching Soccer Saturday but it’s not good at all. Clinton Morrison is just utterly awful.
Switched to Radio 5 Live now. Much better stuff.

Re: Today’s Footy (12/08)
Yup, sounds fairly typical!
I dunno if I'm in the minority but usually I much prefer listening to journalists talk about the game than ex-pros and managers.
Re: Today’s Footy (12/08)
Clinton Morrison does seem to lack the most basic skills required for a sports presenter ... that being the ability to form a coherent and insightful sentence on a regular basis. Bless him.
And that's before you throw the walking dictionary that is Paul Merson into the equation.
Just makes you wonder how they got through the interview process. The mind boggles.

Re: Today’s Footy (12/08)
Maybe Sky just knows that a lot of their audience (me included) don't mind having the kind of people you would happily have a pint with in the pub (okay, maybe Merson is a bad example here, but then point stands) giving coverage rather than some stuck up bore writing for the Telegraph or the Guardian with his RP and zoom calling in front of his bookcase full of managerial autobiographies and nothing else. This is supposed to be fun, not dry-serious. People want to suck the life out of footy coverage - at least in a Soccer Saturday kind of programme - in demanding insight reign supreme over passion, however excited and inarticulate that passion may become in the heat of the moment. If you're bringing scores in on Soccer Saturday the point is to give a rough idea of what's going on, who's winning, how the teams are playing, and how the game feels. We don't need to know whether teams are defending corners zonal or man to man, the Mersons and the Morrisons are essentially your mate at the game texting you updates. I don't want Henry fking Winter texting me updates.

Watching Saints v Norwich. 3-3. Tella just looks unhappy. No celebration when Adam’s Barnes just scored but disallowed for offside. Close call
Re: Today’s Footy (12/08)
Two yellows, first for excessive celebration and second for asking for bar stewards player to be carded for bringing him down.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 4:21 pmRotherham 2 Rovers 0

Szmodics already on a yellow kicked ball away but no second yellow card.
