I've chosen to move seats this season, for what I thought was a better view, which it is, but I'm now sat next to a complete clown who just shouts "you **** b@stard" at the top of his voice in full view of his young son (I'm guessing) who thinks it's hilarious. Some role model Their inane comments throughout the game on Friday were also a complete irritation.

It looks as though I've no choice but to put up with this, as I can't just move to an empty seat further away any more.There just aren't any now.

Does anyone else have the same or similar problem, and kind of wishes they were sat elsewhere?

I think I just want to know that it's not just me

I recall being sat next to someone at Oxford in 2000 and his language was really appalling, using the worst of words. I thought I'd make the point to him that there was a young girl sat next to him, maybe around eight-years-old. I was told in no uncertain terms that:

1. I should keep my mouth shut
2. The little girl was his daughter


As for me now on the Turf - I sit between my brother and jdrobbo and I think I can just about put up with them.

I don't get too sniffy about who's around me. It's an earthy game and it takes all sorts to make a crowd.

Not sure I'd want to be in some gathering of the sanitised genteel classes.

When my own kids were exposed to the occasional drunken gobsh1tes and loud-mouthed simpletons I tended to use it as an educational opportunity for them, and I believe they're better for the experience.

I feel your pain.

I had two guys relatively near to me shouting obscenities all game on Friday.

One had his wife and two kids with him (assuming), but it didn’t deter him one bit. He was about 4/5 rows up from me, and had I been closer I would’ve said something.

I’ve always found it very strange how people behave at football matches. Just watch the game and keep your foul mouthed opinions to yourself, nobody wants to hear it.

I also like the tactical geniuses that shout random things like ‘push up’ or ‘spread it’.

So are you suggesting that there are seats somewhere within Turf Moor which aren't close (within hearing distance) of a at least one foul-mouthed moron? Where are they, I want one too!
My wife and I have four family/friends who each hold a pair of season tickets and we go to watch using their tickets whenever one of them can't - i think we've attended more home games than any of them over the last two seasons - But during last season, my wife stopped going if it was my older brother's tickets that we were offered... I won't say whereabouts, but I suspect his seats might be located somewhere near to Fidel's.

I've sat with the same group in front,behind, left and right for years.I barely know their names,what they do or where they are from but for a couple of hours every 2 weeks or so I can honestly say I enjoy their company. Whatever their opinions we are all there for the same thing I hope and we are all part of the wider matchday experience. I know others have their own area issues but I wouldn't change mine for the world despite being in the much maligned CFS

Quite a few yrs ago went on an FA Cup match in January and was sat in my own seat ... imagine the surprise when a gentleman came and sat down next to me, looked at me and "I know you" and we realised we had been at a Christmas get together only a fortnight before at my brother-in-laws in Lothersdale (he sits in the Bob Lord normally and had moved across for a change) it was my brother-in-laws wifes brother small world innit

We sit in front of two older blokes who do nothing but whinge about the football being played throughout the game. It’s fair to say they haven’t accustomed themselves to Kompany’s way of playing.

I do particularly enjoy them shouting ‘wing it’ to Roberts, which is clearly not his role, and then that very odd time he does and he doesn’t get it quite right they lambast him for doing exactly what they’ve asked him to do.

They’re pretty harmless but it does get quite annoying.

Judging by episode 3 of Mission to Burnley the most foul mouthed person in the stadium is our lovely Vincent, which my junior school family found hilarious, it was the best lure the programme had to get them to watch it on the telly

On the Turf it is just a grin and bear it situation, and praying the young uns don’t copy the yells and chants in school and get in trouble.

Had my current seat for 10+ years but noticed on Friday someone absolutely stunk of weed.

I made several overtly loud mentions of 'which scumbags are smoking weed at a football match surrounded by kids' but didn't get any bites

I'm hoping it was just one of the Hooray Henry's in the hospitality area and not a permanent fixture!

Had a really good set of nice people sat around us in the Jimmy Mac Upper (just underneath the camera gantry) for the last decade or so after moving from the James Hargreaves Upper. Same set still there thankfully, but there was someone new grunting and grumbling far too much about us losing to Man City and moaning about our build up (and not pressing Ederson, which to anyone who watches us regularly would know that would be a conscious decision by VK to not give gaps for a quick break away). We didn't used to have a 'booer' near us for the taking of the knee when it was done each week, but we did on Friday night (possibly same person).

I'm doing my very best this season not to get carried away too much and to mind my language. I fail in these regards far too often.

It's something I struggle with when watching Burnley. Everything comes through in Claret tinted colours. The referee is obviously against us, the opposition are constatntly wasting time and fouling us. We are always blameless. It's so very difficult.

It might help if my Mum came to the football but she doesn't.

Never had a problem at the Turf, a few away games which were obviously 'learning experiences' for my kids.

The only strange one at home was a lad who sat just down from us for a couple of seasons, really got into the game, which was great. But also used to whistle unbelievably loudly. It didn't seem to really have any relation to what was happening on the pitch. Lose possession, ref makes a decision.. or the ball goes out for a throw in.. an ear splitting whistle every time. Impressive if a bit bewildering.

Going back to the original poster. Why don’t you mention this to a steward out of earshot of others, ask them to get their supervisor or a bfc representative to discreetly make an appearance without anyone realising, this happened by someone near us and after listening to it for a good half of game the person was taken down into the concourse or somewhere away from the crowd and spoken with, after that he just didn’t do it anymore, bear in mind prior to that he’d been swearing for months on end. I heard others weeks later saying that the culprit had been told in no uncertain terms a life ban was looming if he did it again. Problem solved.

Years ago I brought my wife to the Turf and before the game had even started the idiot sat two seats away from me started abusing the ref and officials with foul language whilst they were making their way onto the pitch, this was a a precursor to a relentless tirade of swearing throughout the game.

I was going to confront him about it but my wife stopped me as she didn’t want a scene, but the unfortunate outcome was that my wife was extremely loathe to let my young son go with me to a match until I assured her that I’d make sure we were in the family enclosure.

It would be a few years before I was able to bring him.

It turns out that I learned the guttersnipe that we were sat near was a certain Burnley ‘legend’ that is no longer with us.
