I was in c & a in schleswig last week. They also have a woolworths. C & a is in loads of high streets just over the water. Now that debenhams is gone, it's a decent place to do clothes shopping.

Exactly this. Bezos getting richer and richer while high streets are dying, problem is it's too b****y convenient buying everything on line and somebody dropping it at your doorstep!

It's more then just convenience. It's the massive choice, the fact that if something exists you can reasonably easily find it. It can also often be cheaper as online you can sell to the world whereas a shop is geographically limited. Shop's probably have greater overheads too.

Generally I don't miss them.

No bait, I think that non consumable items should be internet, practical and cost effective. I don’t need to go and ‘try’ anything anymore. It works/fits or I send it back.

Consumables, should always be local to the community you’re in.

Yes that would make sense , think they sent bump about 99/2000 ish . I’ll never forget buying a v expensive yellow ( it was the 80’s) Pringle wool golf jumper , only to get food spilt down it . Mate said you need to boil wash it in a pan. Chernobyl’s nuclear reactor would have been better… happy days

In the transition period between fully populated high street shops and the almost inevitable move to no shop units in towns centres and high streets the growing sight of empty units falling into disrepair projects an image of poverty and dereliction. It makes for a poor experience in towns across the country.
