Beyer - injured?

Post by Fretters » Tue Aug 22, 2023 2:16 pm

Just seen another mention on social media of Beyer being out for a while. Just an unsubstantiated rumour gathering pace, I hope (which I realise I'd only be adding to, here.)

Anyone heard anything proper? I know the club can't release injury news now, only the player can.

No one can have heard anything because the club don't say anything about injuries

The only thing we can go off is the fact he was pictured training with the rest of the team last week.

And we have signed another central defender making it 5 or 6 now?

The rumour first appeared after the Dundee United friendly but he posted on his Instagram over the weekend being out in Manchester, if the rumour was true I can't think he'd be out in Manchester a day after doing his ACL.

That's the sort of info I was after! Cheers :-)

Do we know if he played in that game ?

I know, I said that, but people see and hear things in the world of social media and I found exactly what I was looking for above. I hadn't seen him post on Instagram, but it looks like he's OK.

The rumour was that he'd done his ACL in that game. But as claretburns says, it's unlikely that he'd be out in Manchester the next day if he had done.

For what it's worth, I agree with the club not publishing injury updates and details.

Also the suggestion of signing a left footed defender for 2m to replace Beyer seems strange. We wanted Coulibaly another left footed cb early on in the window for reported 15m next summer because Beyer had an injury. You would think we we where looking to have to replace Beyer for the season we would get on the phone to Man City and ask for THB back on loan

No idea to be honest, but there are images showing him in training towards the end of last week, so if he did do his ACL in training or the game, I still can't imagine him being out in Manchester over the weekend if it were true.

I don't think many people would be happy if their employer published medical records in the public domain.

Not knocking the OP cos it's natural to be curious but with player injuries no longer being public news, we would all probably be a lot happier if we didn't give any time to anonymous rumours posted online about injuries to players. There's nothing to gain and by someone liked/respected posting it on here it just potentially keeps spreading it.

It's a fair point. I was really just looking for assurances that he's OK and claretburns has sort of given me that. Happy for the thread to be deleted, thanks.

On his story he put one at a restaurant with what looked like drinking wine and then on Sunday put another story looking up at the bottom of a tower block. Yes that could still mean he is injured but if you did your ACL on a Friday afternoon I’d hardly expect you to be out for a fancy meal Saturday night

Doesn’t seem to worry Pep who is recovering from back surgery.

I’ve seen all his medical notes and the operation went well. ;)

It's probably true but he is being signed for the Champions League, like Foster and Obafemi were signed for The Premier League.

With the introduction of GDPR I'd imagine, medical information is protected

True, but guessing that was when that the club lawyers gave them the whisper in the ear

I don’t think GDPR is the reason we are now more discreet or circumspect when divulging information on player injuries. Kompany in general seems to play his cards closer to his chest - possibly to avoid giving too much away on team selection etc, but I’d be surprised if this is a patient data confidentiality issue.

In this case it may well be that Beyer isn’t injured
