Kompany’s pre-match press conference
Looks like it happened about an hour ago, but the club appear to have stopped live streaming them.
Any idea if he gave an injury updates etc? There was once a time when local journos tweeted his comments as he made them, but we don’t have any now.
For all the improvements with our social media etc, we really don’t see the main man very often now updating us on week to week stuff.

Re: Kompany’s pre-match press conference
I assumed the live streaming had stopped due to being back in the Premier League and there being some rule around it etc.
I could have completely made that up mind!

Re: Kompany’s pre-match press conference
Is that because we’re now in the Premier League and Sky get first dibs?

What time will it be available to watch do you think?

Re: Kompany’s pre-match press conference
Quite possibly, but the nationals seem to focus on stuff and nonsense.
I just want to know if Beyer is likely to play on Sunday or what he has to say about the rest of the transfer window. I’m not arsed about what he thinks of Ollie Watkins’ England credentials are whatever other media narrative Sky are part of driving.

They were shown in 2021/22 with Sean Dyche and then Michael Jackson I think.arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 2:38 pmI assumed the live streaming had stopped due to being back in the Premier League and there being some rule around it etc.

As Nori says, few notes on the transfer window

Nothing on injuries apart from how Obafemi is progressing.

Clever answer re transfers, not giving anything away, he knows fans know where there are still gaps in the squad

Interesting comments about the “next £100m player”.

He even 'improves' the questions being asked with his thoughtfully crafted answers. I may well get bored of listening to him but I sense it will be a while yet.

Re: Kompany’s pre-match press conference
Seems strange of 5 reporters not a single one asked him if he had a fully fit squad and if he had anyone missing minus the long term obafemi

Re: Kompany’s pre-match press conference
Exactly this, but it’s a symptom of the lack of local journalists. Those at the press conference are producing content for national audiences. Only Burnley fans care if there’s any truth in the rumours of Beyer’s injury etc.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 5:42 pmSeems strange of 5 reporters not a single one asked him if he had a fully fit squad and if he had anyone missing minus the long term obafemi
Similarly nobody asked him about interest in our players/possibility of outgoings before next Friday.

Perhaps we don’t want other teams to know who is injured and who isn’t?
Re: Kompany’s pre-match press conference
Interesting comments that the standard in training has gone up to another level. Kinda debunks the myth on here that we’ve not improved.

Re: Kompany’s pre-match press conference
Maybe, but VK gave generic updates all of last season. He wouldn’t go into detail, but would usually say if someone was going to miss the forthcoming game if asked.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 6:03 pmPerhaps we don’t want other teams to know who is injured and who isn’t?
Re: Kompany’s pre-match press conference
Has there ever been a more thoughtful and honest manager in these pressers?

Re: Kompany’s pre-match press conference
Key observations from me.
- We shouldn't have lost at home last season - that still hurts VK.
- Faced the question about dealing with competition in that the players know its needed and its how everyone gets better.
- Clearly created lines in the sand about hard work and its a team game
- Wants to spend more if he can
- Appreciated the time he has had with the squad - can see they have already progressed
- Cohesion will only come with more time and work - expects squad and players to get better.

So the story about Beyer being out was a load of old pony, was it? Or don't we know?

Re: Kompany’s pre-match press conference
May be barking up the wrong tree but now Gameweek 3 is underway we can see publicly which players the Burnley players have picked. Every one who has Beyer has put him as third and final substitute
One has just subbed Charlie Taylor into the side and another (not wanting to fuel another tabloid story, but…) has put Watkins as captain.
A shame we don’t get proper updates ahead of the game, not least because every informed opponent will know our lineup anyway, it’s just us who do not.

So after not being in the match day squad against city and then we sign another cb, the Burnley players have since put Taylor in their teamCrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 8:23 pmMay be barking up the wrong tree but now Gameweek 3 is underway we can see publicly which players the Burnley players have picked. A player, not “the” players. One who will be starting.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 10:28 pmSo after not being in the match day squad against city and then we sign another cb, the Burnley players have since put Taylor in their team
I won’t name names or put the URL up but it is easy enough to find and publicly available. Odd to transfer Taylor into his side for no reason so my hunch is he starts for Beyer.
May also be a tactic to get more cash from Leeds next week. Ditto Chelsea with Maatsen coming on late tonight.

Trying to understand what you mean as I don’t do fantasy football but I’m assuming if someone has put Taylor in their team then they have a feeling Taylor will be starting? Just find it strange when he wasn’t in the squad against cityCrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 10:55 pmA player, not “the” players. One who will be starting.

You have to take into account the level of opposition on the performances on the fieldforzagranata wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 11:26 pmNo it doesn't.
What will debunk that view is performances on the field that show we have improved.
