First PL Manager to Get Sacked

Post by ecc » Fri Aug 25, 2023 6:15 pm

Early doors I know but it's an old favourite on UTC.

The obvious candidate is Sean Dyche but who are the other contenders?

Cooper or Moyes.

I thought both did well last season but they never seem to be far away when it comes to speculation.

If Everton have any sense (extremely debatable) they'll give dyche at least 10 games the hiring & firing policy is part of the reason everton are in the position they are in never giving somebody enough time to steady the ship.

Dyche for me.

He should never have taken the job. Club in crisis. Fans in crisis.

I think its SD but really through no fault of his own. They will be sitting 18th in early december, decimated by injuries, no money for incoming players, and the owners will get rid of him. Whoever they bring in won't be enough and they will be relegated.

Heckingbottom is currently the favourite but I think Dyche is more likely on the basis that Everton are keener than Sheffield United when it comes to pulling the trigger

If Moshiri sacks Sean Dyche it will fully demonstrat his capabilities (or lack of them) in 'running ' a football club.
After scraping clear of relegation for a number of seasons I'm thinking that the Toffees time has finally run out.
Dyche does have an ability to plat fog, but the mess that Moshiri has created, is even beyond him.

I think O'Neil at Wolves could be the first out of work if they struggle. Dyche may not last the season at Everton, but I do think he will have opportunity to steady things.

Of course, if Dyche does get potted, it can’t possibly be his fault.

Dyche had this ability with us in our poorer PL seasons to pull out a big result from nowhere just when it mattered. There were times when we were in terrible form and you'd see absolutely zero progress on the pitch from week to week, no sign of being able to score or keep a clean sheet, nothing, no hope, just dreadful, miserable attrition, then we go beat someone 3-0 out of nowhere. It's like we'd be only slightly submerged under the water, coming up for air just often enough that we don't drown. As awful as the Everton squad is I'm sure he'll keep doing it at Everton, but they've got a clueless owner and a vicious fanbase with a penchant for pushing the drowning man's head back down whenever he breaches the surface, so of course he's going to be sacked first.

Of course there is the benefit to us in him securing another role.

Still doesn't change my mind that he went to the wrong club. Think he was more concerned about keeping himself in the PL at all costs rather than find a project that would have given him different opportunities and challenges.

Luton have absolutely no expectation, or need, to stay up this season. This is all about funding their new stadium. If they stay up, bonus. If they go down, they have a championship competent manager, who will have received board backing. With money to spend

I'll be amazed if he gets sacked

Dyche, PH, Moyes, O'Neil, Silva, Iraola, Cooper, Roy, Ten Haag all more likely I think

You aren't kidding there the finance department must have been doing handstands & cartwheels & summersaults when bielsa & moshiri couldn't shake hands.

Everton need relegation, in the same way we did.
No manager out there could make a team of that squad.

The old romantic in me says I hope it's not Dyche. I want him to do well, he was fantastic for us, but then I am no toffee and what will be will be.

Dependant on new owners at OT I think ETH can be looking over his shoulder already.

If you mean Hodgson, I'd say he's one of the safest. Highly respected at his home club, fan favourite, and has been doing a great job there.
The board will be happy with mid-table, so not under a great deal of pressure.

Boggles my mind that ManU finished 3rd last season. Don't think I've seen a single convincing performance from them since ETH walked through the door. Maybe that spell of a few weeks between Ronaldo walking out and Wout walking in where Rashford looked back to his best, but aside from that they have been totally insipid under him. The only goal they've scored in their opening two games, the ridiculous pen against Wolves, shouldn't even have been given. Fair enough they won the league cup and it's trophies that matter at the end of the day, but their run was Villa (under Gerrard I think), us (and they hardly outplayed us, a championship team), Charlton, Forest, then Newcastle in the final. You give literally any other prem team that run, they'd fancy their chances too. He's a fraud.

Dyche will keep up his 100% record and get sacked again.

Of course it will be his own fault. There’s tons of free transfers isn’t there and deals to be had for players he just can’t/won’t entertain them.

Anyway wonder who the brigade will support next? West Brom? Stoke perhaps. Dyche and Stoke are a marriage made in heaven.

I think it's only because the club is (supposedly) going through the process of a sale that there are no headlines creating a narrative about 'pressure' and speculating on his future, because during enormous takeovers such things tend to take a back seat. I know that might sound a little strange considering they got 3rd and a cup last year which looks good on paper, but I'm genuinely perplexed at how a team so insipid actually managed to achieve that.

It's Manchester United fretters that's way. One of the biggest global clubs. The fans and owners (sort of) demand success. The Glaziers have been a total disaster for them. Absolutely shocking, they were winning nearly everything until these bafoons got involved and let City take over the great City of Manchester.

Man Utd are a super massive club, but City are now outdoing them because of poor mismanagement and intention from City.

Todays game is massive for Dyche, lose that and the fans will turn quicker than milk out the fridge. I did feel from the day he took the job he had to adapt his style as a manager or if he continues to play the “Dyche way” he had to win or the Everton fans just won’t have it. He’s not winning and true to form they aren’t having it so he’s in bother.

But they have made themselves loads of money. As that is all they are there for, it's a massive success. They don't even have to pay for the extra points that they get from var decisions over each season.

Why sell at all? Maybe they can set up a new company, to buy the club from themselves with a second leveraged buy out.

With a bit of luck, they'll not buy the second DM that ten hag is after, and then casemiro will get injured or go to Saudi Arabia during that week after the pl transfer window is shut. I can't see the glasers not accepting a big wad of cash for him.

He isn't & parish who fronts the face & seemingly makes all the big decisions will be quite content with the same as last season, he's viewed as being a safe pair of hands & the major reason they never employed anybody else because in all honesty there was nobody else who would have come in & done a better job, that said after him the appointment needs to be right as Roy isn't getting younger.

It’s a shame if it is Dyche. Taken over a real mess of a club. A win today though and they may turn that corner. Personally I think the first to go will be the Forest Manager.

Quite enjoying him exposing himself to being the 1 trick dinosaur that he is to the footballing world.

O think after today it will be Dyche.
I hate to read some of the insults about him though
He had sod all money here so had to play a brand of football that although hard to watch at times kept us up, we did play some brilliant football under him as well.
Everton are just a basket case,no money, overpaid egotistical players and a fan base that think they have a divine right to be a top 6 club.

Everton are a mess of a club and have been way before Dyche got there
They have had 12 managers since May 2016 (including interim managers) and that includes good managers in Ancelotti & Benitez
