Burnley's not that bad....

Post by claptrappers_union » Wed Aug 30, 2023 4:03 pm

I got this YouTube channel on in the background while I'm working... it shows the state of the streets of Philadelphia at the moment. It makes the average town centre in this country look like paradise.

So, so sad

It's Tranq, induces a zombie like state for users who then go on to have flesh eating infections from the sores at injection sites. I'm glad it's not yet hit the UK on a widespread level, it's bad enough seeing and dealing with our local heroin addicts

This is the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Massive heroin problem and daily shootings. To be fair there is a few very dodgy areas but this does not really represent the whole city.

I appreciate that. I've been to many a dodgy place on my travels, I've seen homeless districts and areas with drug issues. But this channel is an eye opener.

It scary how quiet it is and how people are ‘gone’

I've been to many cities in the US, and nothing compares to New Orleans when it comes to dumps.

I find watching anything to do with addiction pretty upsetting.

Watched quite a bit about the oxy epidemic in the US over the last few years. That was horrific, particularly given so many of those people started out taking it to ease chronic pain.

Just a terrible way to spend your one chance at life.

Extremely sad.

When economic inequality becomes unsustainable this is the sort of stuff that happens as a result.

Take note Britain.

Looks like a movie! I did the City Centre tourist bits last week and was very impressed with how clean and well organised it was.

That is truly frightening. How can a society get like that. First thing has to be getting drugs off the street and that means the harshest of punishments for dealers and compulsory treatment for addicts.

The US has gazillions of areas like this , Tenderloin in SF springs to mind . Parts of Chinatown were dreadful as well , people shItting in boxes etc . Visited Detroit pre covid and talk about no go zones, almost a wasteland in the old heartlands . You wonder at the sheer gargantuan wealth of the US .

America is in a VERY VERY bad place at the moment and it is getting worse every day and the sad thing is it is extremely avoidable. There is so much money here but as usual it's the select few that have it and control it :(

It is heartbreaking. The gap between rich and poor is constantly increasing. MAGA Republicans already believe that the next election has been stolen. There may not be full scale civil war but there will be trouble from informal militias across the country. The US was once such a great country.
