Stuart Broad
I don't do cricket, so I didn't know who it was until they said his name, but Forest fan, Stuart Broad is reporting on our match on Gillette Soccer Special. He's doing a good job so far. Probably the best addition to the lineup since the likes of LeTissier and Thompson left.

Re: Stuart Broad
Best mates with Jimmy Anderson. A lot of the lads at the golf club have been on trips with him said he's a really down to earth, genuine sound lad..
Re: Stuart Broad
Proper good bloke is Broad.
Re: Stuart Broad
Speaks really well.
The snippets I’ve heard he appears quite balanced.

Re: Stuart Broad
Saw his interview on Sky Sports earlier and he’s a very knowledgeable football fan. Glad to hear he’s commentating well tonight

Really impressed by Broad, unbiassed, knowledgeable, a good summariser.

He's already an excellent cricket broadcaster. Looks like he's going to be a natural in multiple formats.

Was excellent makes a change from the usual dimwits
Re: Stuart Broad
Great lad and thought he did a decent job tonight. Perhaps slightly too Forest biased, but can't really blame him for that

Re: Stuart Broad
He made much more sense and spoke with much more clarity than most normal football pundits. He was also very complimentary to us and managed to get the Jimmy Anderson quip in as well.

He has a future ahead of him in broadcasting. That’s for sure.

Re: Stuart Broad
A breath of fresh air, spoke well and intelligently, unlike most of the usual sky pundits. I hope he becomes a regular.

Re: Stuart Broad
I thought he was excellent. Intelligent, knowledgeable and most importantly comprehensible. Showed some of the muppets on there how it should be done, such as Kris Boyd who is dreadful.

Re: Stuart Broad
He reported like a knowledgeable football fan, which is what he is.
Whilst Pardew was OKish in presenting a manager's point of view he didn't offer enough detail on the tos and fros of the actual match.
Perhaps this should indicate the future of pundits. After all, most of the people watching are football fans. Above all they need to describe the match properly and have knowledge of the players of both sides. And they shouldn't come out with the usual crap like 'Turf Moor is a tough place to go' etc.. Neil Mellor for example is excellent on Sky with his reporting on the lower leagues and there are other good ones too. It's the studio ones that let Sky down.

Re: Stuart Broad
Alan Pardew was truly awful.
He made Clinton Morrison look like Stephen Fry.
Kris Boyd spent most of the evening with his head in his hands. And when did they go to him for an update he was talking nonsense. Bit like Thommo in days gone by when he was covering Liverpool before they decided that was not the best idea to give him those games.

Re: Stuart Broad
Brown is a far better commentator/pundit than any of the others on that program. He seems to have a bit of intelligence and can speak quite clearly too.

I feel a bit for Morrison. He clearly knows a lot about football and seems to know every player in detail up and down the country. However he lacks the ability to properly articulate it

He probably knows more about cricket than football
Re: Stuart Broad
This is true. I met him once at a game when he was playing for Mickleover. He's a really nice bloke but definitely not suited to broadcasting!

Re: Stuart Broad
Morrison, Pardew and Merson are absolutely painful to listen to. That show has gone downhill rapidly and continues to deteriorate week after week.

Obviously didn't see/hear him last night, but I've been very impressed with him when he's been covering cricket. I think he could become a regular in the future.Transpennine wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 8:47 pmHe's already an excellent cricket broadcaster. Looks like he's going to be a natural in multiple formats.
