So much for amending the priority bands based on demand; going to be a complete royal rumble for tickets now.

Is it just part or all the away end that has rail seating now ?

When I saw Forest away being 2000 on a Monday night 2 weeks after playing them in the cup, I thought they would up the top bracket for Newcastle away at 3pm yes.
If I’m not mistaken that 2000 bracket is a lot bigger than the old 6000 bracket which will just lead to a mass scramble for tickets (granted not for many games, but think Newcastle will be one)

Even if true, the 2000+ bracket will be people who have attended recent games. The old 6000 point bracket was full of one game a season wonders who could pick and choose their games.
I'm far more inclined to agree with the 2000+ bracket than the outdated 6000+ bracket.

Not the case. A friend of mine is only ten points short of 2,000 and hasn't been to an away game since the 1970s.ClaretInLeeds wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 9:32 amEven if true, the 2000+ bracket will be people who have attended recent games

They have to provide seating but looking at pics it seems it is very limited to the front rows on the balconyclaretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 9:29 amIs it just part or all the away end that has rail seating now ?

Re: 2023/24: Newcastle United v Burnley – Ticket Information
Based off knowledge of some of my friends who were on under 4000 (3rd sale bracket) in the old system and now comfortably in the top bracket, whilst knowing other friends previously with 8000+ points who rarely attended away games also still in the top 2000 bracket, as CT has explained above.BleedingClaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 9:35 amDoes the term not mistaken mean you don’t actually know

The new system was quite rightly brought in to give younger fans more of a chance to legitimately get away tickets.

I’m also unsure that we’ve taken the largest available away allocation, unless the capacity has been reduced this season due to the safe standing.

We could do with finding out the factsTuddybfc wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 9:39 amBased off knowledge of some of my friends who were on under 4000 (3rd sale bracket) in the old system and now comfortably in the top bracket, whilst knowing other friends previously with 8000+ points who rarely attended away games also still in the top 2000 bracket, as CT has explained above.
The other factor the club are taking into account is that despite the furore we often don’t sell out games like Newcastle and I wouldn’t be surprised if this went on general sale or at least to one of the lower points totals.
On the other hand because we are attempting to play exciting football with exciting young players the demand for tickets may be greater, and if so the club may amend the points total required for similar games on a Saturday at 3 o’clock

If you have people who don't go to away games but can buy in the first priority period then the new system is an absolute pi$$ take.
Re: 2023/24: Newcastle United v Burnley – Ticket Information
Think they'll do it for Luton and Brentford and possibly Bournemouth. With probably 3000 available for Newcastle, it probably wasn't necessary to up the required points.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 9:26 amDid you honestly think they would do that? If they are starting at 2000 points each game then they should follow suit of most clubs and split it.
2000 points and 20+ away games last season, then 15 then 10 then anyone.
This scheme is just a watered down version of what was in place meaning someone who never goes away but suddenly decides they want to attend a "glamour" away game can get one if they have had a season ticket for 5 years and been on cup games.
Re: 2023/24: Newcastle United v Burnley – Ticket Information
Reappraising points-based systems for tickets is absolutely the right thing to do over time because they become self fulfilling. Some people have been shut out for years in the Prem and others who do go regularly appear to have fostered an attitude that somehow it's their right to go to every game no matter what.
Widen the base I am all for it. We may even get fewer idiots attending who knows. It's not all about the badge that says how many games youve ever been to.

The default number of points if you only have a Season Ticket is 1750, that means over 5 years you will have needed 25 additional games, cup games or away games to make up to the 2000 points. I dont think we have had enough cup games in the past 5 years to be 25 games alone, so that means they must have gone to some away games right...? Maybe not Uber fan levels, but certainly have been to away games.
I suspect that for the limited away allocation games (Luton comes to mind) then the club may increase the initial points to 2200 to allow Uber fans to buy first though.

Bare in mind preseason friendlies have also counted towards this. We've had at least 16 home ties in Europa league, FA Cup, League Cup, and friendlies - and then take into account some people got 50 points for Olympiakos at home.Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 10:03 amThat's just not true.

I understand about the possible 50 points game - wasn't that just the Europa League qualifier? I went to that, got 10 points allocated. I was just saying that you're statement above isn't true.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 9:57 amIf you have people who don't go to away games but can buy in the first priority period then the new system is an absolute pi$$ take.

Quite funny to highlight part of someone's post to show they were stating a fact and ignore the sentence starts with "if" to be fair

FFS moaners moaning for the sake of moaning. When someone who attends all away games doesn't get a ticket when they want one, come back and moan then. Until then, give it a rest.

They stopped awarding points for friendlies a few years ago so none of those would have counted

50 points awarded for Olympiacos home game - I'd forgotten about that when it was discussed a while ago but checked back and it was a 50 point game.Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 10:21 am

Not all of us were lucky to get 50 points CT
after checking I notice that it is now over 5 years ago... so I wonder if it no longer counts (just to confuse the matter )

Didn't realise the friendlies had stop counting. I only got 10 points for Olympiakos too however and after emailing the club earlier this week they have said they haven't seen anybody with 50 points for Olympiakos and wouldn't amend my points.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 10:38 am50 points awarded for Olympiacos home game - I'd forgotten about that when it was discussed a while ago but checked back and it was a 50 point game.

2,000 points for a 3,000 allocation is probably about right.

thanks CT, didn't doubt you at all, nor anyone else say they had 50 points. I am wondering if it was different for me as I changed seats for that game from my normal ST seat in the CFS? Either way, it no longer matters, and I think the new points scheme, albeit flawed for some, is an improvement on the old scheme.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 11:47 amYou are right, it doesn't count but I received 50 points.

Not sure if this is correct but Im sure I read on here that 50 points were given if you downloaded your ticket to the app. I think it was an incentive to see if people would do that rather than having to print and post tickets etc?

Not sure if I’ve missed it anywhere. But tickets currently available to purchase right now to the ‘Premium’ membership holders.
Prior to even the highest category season ticket holder and earlier than dates advertised as on sale.
I can imagine will be a struggle come the more popular away days for this season!

If they stick to the 5% allocation to this group that's only a maximum of 140 tickets out of our 2800 allocation, so not tooCryerBFC wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 3:09 pmNot sure if I’ve missed it anywhere. But tickets currently available to purchase right now to the ‘Premium’ membership holders.

I’d say Newcastle on a Saturday afternoon at 3 will be one of the most popular away days, and if only 70 have been sold with the premier membership, there can’t be many people who have taken up the offer.

One of our group is a season ticket holder like your friend, went to every cup game including evening ones , and probably 10 away games in past 5 years, but has 10 points less than your friend
