Good grief. Worst home performance of our premiership era. Incredibly worrying. At least when we got stuffed by Man City under Laws we knew we were doomed. Hope Kompany learns from this urgently

Trafford 5 - feel a bit sorry for him given what happened infront of him and wasn’t really to blame for any goals, passing is decent but not at Muric’s level
Al-Dakhil 3 - goodness me, I’m still backing this lad all the way but simply nothing he did was right today, nothing
O’Shea 4 - first goal was just woeful defending tbh, no idea why he went towards the ball and left Son unmarked, summed up his day
Beyer 4 - looked unfit
Roberts 5 - pick of the defence, just
Cullen 4 - physically dominated for the most part
Berge 5 - some bright moments first half but looked shattered with the up and down patterns of play
JBG 6 - pretty solid half really, not sure why he went off unless injury
Koleosho 8* - going to be a star / is already a star
Amdouni 7 - our best bits of play first half all went through him
Foster 7 - another goal and I think his early performances just show how important that settling in period was from January for him, completely different player

Delcroix 4 - part of a poor defence second half
Brownhill 5 - midfield was even more open but not sure it was entirely his fault and at least kept us going near the end

Kompany 3 - got it wrong today on multiple levels but I’m 100% backing him to put it right, massive learning curve

Trafford 4 needs a break before his confidence is totally destroyed
AD 4 not a right back
OShea 4 looks Championship standard
Beyer 5 looked less than 100% fit
Roberts 3. Felt sorry for him. Never a left back
JBG 6 looked good for 30 min. Unlucky to be subbed
Cullen 4 over run in midfield
Berge 4 as Cullen
Koleosho 7 only player who could beat a man and great assist
Amdouni 4 shows glimpses but not much else
Foster 6 worked hard without much support

Brownhill 6 should be stating
Delacroix 4 made no improvement
Redmond 5
Larsen 4

Trafford 5 - passing and speed of thought not at muric levels yet, which means harder for us to break press, cant really blame for any of the goals
O' Shea 4 - did not have the best game today
Beyer 6 - rolls Royce of a player
Al-Dakhil 4 - learning but not a full back , will get better
Roberts 5c- not sure what roberts position is anymore
Cullen 5 - at times looked lost .
Berge 5 - needs brownhill alongside him and Cullen
Koleosho 7 - there’s some player emerging in this lad, lots of promise
Gudmundsson 5 -
Amdouni 5 - looks like speed and pace of prem is a little bit of a struggle. Would sacrifice to get brownhill in
Foster 6 - scored again , had a worldly save stop him grabbing a 2nd

Brownhill 6 - needs to start
Cork 5 - game gone by now
Redmond 5 - as above
Larsen 6 - again showing promise
Delacroix 4

Trafford - 5. Some good saves but not inspiring a lot of confidence yet. Needs to be given
more time.

Al Dakhil - 4. Either plays in the middle or doesn’t play.
O’Shea - 4. Definitely doesn’t need more time. An expensive Kevin Long.
Beyer - 5 - slightly less worse than O’Shea but not by much.
Roberts -5. Looked uncomfortable most of the game

Berge - 4. Decent 10 mins but zero complaints re getting hooked.
Cullen -4. Could just as easily have been hooked.

Koleosho - 6. Did ok relative to those around him
Amdouni -4. One shot first half and precious little else
JBG - 4. Started reasonably ok but then went AWOL

Foster -7. The one bright spot.

Delcroix - 4. The way he got booked said a lot.
Redmond -4. Steven Reid
Larsen - 4
Brownhill - 6

We can put lipstick on a pig but that was a mess. Very few positives. Wrong personnel at the back. Ekdal must start if fit. Been a lot of noise this week about needing a LB. Maybe we do but we have Taylor who has always been reliable. He must come in too.

He has a big squad. After 11 goals conceded in 3 home games I expect that squad to be utilized.

Trafford 6 difficult to score as he didn't have much chance with the goals. Did ok with his feet. Sometimes the keeper has to lump it forward, which he did.
Al Dakhil 4 little boy lost on the right
O'Shea 4 I don't rate him on what I've seen so far and assumed he was one for the bench when we signed him
Beyer 5 big jump for him in this league and doesn't have the time on the ball he enjoyed last season. Didn't look fully fit today and I think he'll come good as the season progresses.
Roberts 6 did ok, I'll leave it for everyone else to point out he shouldn't be playing left back.
Berge 5
Cullen 4 looked a man in the Championship and a boy so far in the prem. Thought he would make the step up with ease but he needs a partner.
Gudmundsson 5 largely anonymous
Koleosho 6 no doubting he's exciting and a good prospect. Don't know why but I think he should be this seasons Benson (impact sub)
Amdouni 6 definitely has something about him and looks like he can create something out if nothing but we need to get him involved more.
Foster 6 worked his socks off and got his goal. Couldn't ask for much more as the service went downhill as the game went on.
Delacroix 6 I think he looks pretty assured at centre back.
Larsen 6 made a bit of.an impact
Cork 5 game was gone and he's come on to limit the damage. Saw a bit of the ball but they'd packed in playing by then.
Browhill 7 maybe a high mark but he got into good, advanced positions and deserved a goal.

Reality is kicking in early and I don't want to go into tactics too much on the ratings thread.
The counter argument will be that we've played three really good sides but the major concern is how easily we get cut open. Good midfielders are picking us apart with one pass or playing it around us and creating an overlap to the wing or a through ball for their forwards to run onto. It's far too easy and the defence looks extremely vulnerable and stretched.
We could play both Trafford and Muric and it wouldn't make a difference but it may already be time to take Trafford out of the firing line purely for his confidence.
Hope Vincent spends the next two weeks wisely and comes up with a good gameplay for Forest.

Trafford 5 (no chance with the goals, but distribution was questionable at times)
Al Dakil 3 (however brilliant he was last season counts for nothing. He was awful)
Beyer 5
O'Shea 5
Roberts 5
JBG 6
Cullen 6
Berge 3
Koleosho 6
Amdouni 5
Foster 7

Brownhill 6 (+1 for scoring)
Delcroix 4
Redmond 5
Larsen 6 (actually looked very capable imo)

At 1-0 up, looking comfortable and playing ok it was ridiculous to go in 2-1 down at half time, but defensively the goals were absolutely awful!!! Again! Without Maddison I feel Spurs are a team in transition and very average at best, but he was absolutely everywhere, pulled every string imaginable and literally dragged them back into the game single handedly when they were struggling imo. Then we decided to aid and abet him by committing Hari Kari, especially from our own bloody corner!!! We're far, far too easy to open up and I'm fearing a very long, very hard season unfortunately unless we can stop shipping the softest goals in the whole PL.
Thought Foster was excellent tbf.

Defence absolutely shocking. Mistake after mistake, and so easy for Spurs. Looks like we have wasted a lot of money on players who are not good enough for this level. Beyer looks the only centre back we have got who is good enough for this level and he is unfit. No left back and playing people out of position is not something you can get away with in the Prem. Spent a fortune and have a much worse defence than last season. This defence would not cut it in the Championship. Not helper by awful tactics from Company today. Completely naive and looks way out of his depth so far. People keep saying players need time to gel and that may be true but this lot at the back are just not good enough. Look like we will score a few goals though so hopefully get some results against weaker teams.

Trafford 5 - some good saves but his (lack of) passing range and (lack of) ability under pressure cost us 2 of the goals. I’m just holding onto the hope that Muric was just as bad at the start of last season and I have a lot more confidence in Trafford at corners and high balls.
Al Dakhil 4 - His worst game for us. Exposed by the tactics but also dived in too much. Hoping his stint as RB is over.
O'Shea 6 - Thought he was the best CB and made some decent blocks and passes
Beyer 3 - So off the pace. Passing poor, decision making poor and put us on the back foot so often from diving in and not winning the ball.
Roberts 5 - Did ok and played Koleoseo in for the goal but never a left back. Not his fault - Had such a good season last season and was a revelation but this was a bridge too far for his ability.
Gudmundsson 4 - Meh. Can’t remember anything of note.
Cullen 4 - Never in the game.
Berge 5 - Not great but no idea why he was subbed. Got around the pitch.
Koleosho 7 - One bright spark of the “Great Winger Experiment (TM)”. Quick feet, brave and an assist.
Amdouni 4 - Another on not helped by the tactics. Couple of half chances but has potential.
Foster 6 - Scored and worked hard. Knocked a point off for the “assist” for their second.

Delacroix 3 - Appeared as lost as I did about the decision to move to 5-2-3 at half time. Bizarre.
Brownhill N/A - left after 65 mins to go to a BBQ. The burgers were worth it 😋
Redmond N/A - As above. Hate leaving early but had a BBQ steak butty with my name on.
Larsen N/A - As above. Couple of beers deep by this time 🍻

Trafford 4 - no chance with the goals but poor distribution led to us giving the ball away cheaply and building pressure on ourselves.

Al Dakhil 4 - NOT A FULL BACK. Ponderous on the ball and given a torrid time all afternoon.
Roberts 4 - NOT A LEFT BACK. Complete imbalance with him on that side constantly coming back inside. Not enough pressure on the opposition and too easy to play against (see Son’s hat trick goal).
O’Shea 4 - a really poor afternoon for him. Run ragged and poor distribution.
Beyer 3 - dreadful comeback game. Looked so indecisive and caught out numerous times with simple balls over the top.

Cullen 4 - never really got a foothold in the game and got overran again. But this is more on the manager than the player.
Berge 4 - got in some great defensive blocks that went unnoticed but struggled due to be outnumbered like Cullen.

JBG 4 - neat enough but with no thrust.
Amdouni 5 - a few flashes again but struggled to make a real impact.
Koleosho 4 - a couple of great runs in the first half that worried them to death but also lots of sloppy, naive play. He shouldn’t really be starting three PL games with his inexperience.
Foster 6 - very bright first 20 mins or so. Faded as the game went on but it became more of a lone furrow that he was running.

Brownhill 6 - added some bite and energy but as the formation changed to an even worse shape was totally up against it again.
Redmond 5 - a few glimpses of what he can offer but the game went away from us very quickly before he could make an impact.
Delcroix 4 - offered very little considering he found himself as part of a back 5.
Larsen 5 - looked bright and carried the ball well but the game was well and truly over by the time he came on.

This defeat was well and truly on the manager, I’m afraid. He chose the wrong team and shape AGAIN. And worse, he switched to a really strange shape at half time which just made things even harder and ultimately finished us off.

The manager needs to look to go back to last years shape/tactics which we are very used to and also look to perhaps being a little more pragmatic in his tactics and also his team selection.

I’m not going to mark but have to say it was telling once the old guard came in that we were more in control
Or spurs took their foot off the gas at 5 ?

Trafford 4 - Time for Aro to come back in
AAD 3 - Playing out of position but he had an absolute stinker
O’Shea 4 - Distribution very poor
Beyer 3 - Rash, looked unfit and rightly hooked but that should have been at H/T
Roberts 5 - Not a LB but improved 2nd half
Berge 5 - Started well but faltered very quickly
Cullen 3 - All 3 Prem games he has been anonymous and should have been withdrawn but the same could be said for virtually the whole team
JBG 4 - Played his best football with us last season in the middle. His flying winger days have probably passed by now
Koleosho 6 - Started both halves well and he is going to be a talent. He is one I would persevere with
Amdouni 5 - One snapshot 1st half and tried but didn’t really get in the game.
Foster 7 - The bright light of todays loss. He is a transformed player from last season. He never stopped working and was running on empty by the end. Deserved goal for his efforts

Delcroix 4 - Didn’t improve the back line but still need to see more from him
Brownhill 5 - Tightened the middle up a little but still lost the ball pretty easily in dangerous positions
Redmond 3 - Did nowt
Brunn Larsen 5 - Some success down the left today

That today was not a pretty watch and we looked lost…BUT…we have just played 3 VERY GOOD teams that will probably be top 6 come the end of the season. We are still trying to gel with a very young squad where the majority have never played at the highest level. Obviously it is a very disappointing result and it could have got an awful lot uglier but we kept going. VK is going to have to work very hard to get the team working like he wants but we have to be patient especially after playing the calibre of teams we already have.

Trafford - 5 - no chance with goals. Distribution is too slow though and helps put us under pressure. Is he a £20 million step up on Muric?

AlDakil - 3 - an absolute mare - felt for the lad
O'Shea - 4 - poor
Beyer - 4 - not fit
Roberts - 5 - stuck at it

Cullen - 4 - poor
Berge - 3 - poor. Looks one of those midefielders lost in a midfield 2
JBG - 6 - started really well and then we started giving him nothing but hospital balls

Amdouni - 5 - I just don't think he knows where he's playing. Has good touches but an absolute passenger for massive parts of the game - which we just can't afford
Foster - 7* - our best player again, ran himself into the ground and took his goal well. Unlucky not to add to the tally
Koleosho - 7 - there's plenty of talent in there. Nowhere near the finished article.

Brownhill - 6 - How he isn't starting is beyond me
Redmond - 3 - an absolute nothing substitution
Delcroix - 4 - fighting a losing battle
Larsen - 6 - looks very much like JBG - an intelligent footballer
Cork - 6

I made the comment last week of change for change sake. I stick by it. I just don't get so many changes.

Brownhill has to start for me. Taylor is by far the best left back in the club, get him in and Roberts to right back and at least start with a back line that knows where it's playing. We clealy put all our eggs in the Maatsen basket at left back and now paying the price.

Too easy to have 4 on 3 with one pass the way we are trying to play - it's suicidal football at the moment. Gave Maddison the freedom of Turf Moor all day - and he revelled in it. We are playing some decent stuff in among which is frustrating - but we are going to concede 3/4/5 every week playing like this.

The inbalance on the bench is also bizarre. No Taylor but 3 wingers?

In VK we trust

A shambolic performance. Looking worse each game. Thought Kompany said Man City game was the worst we would play. It was the best of the three. This way of playing with these players will not be successful in the PL. Need to shore things up with more experienced players.

Trafford 4 should not have started season. Need to bring Muric in asap.
Roberts 4
Beyer 4
OShea 4
Al Dakhil 4
Cullen 4
Berge 4
Koleosho 7
JBG 5
Amdouni 5
Foster 7

Subs

Brownhill 5
Larsen 6
The others 5

We’ve spent nearly 100 million but that was as bad as anything under Dyche if not worse.

We have a squad that would walk the Championship, but are literally cannon fodder in this league!

Which ‘sitter’ was that, you clown?!

The one where he ran through from the half way line under pressure from a defender and the keeper made a good save?

Seven players new to the Premier league in that starting line up, plus Roberts and O’Shea who don’t have much experience in it. City, Villa and now Spurs have played through our midfield with ease and our backline can’t cope with it. These three teams are excellent with settled squads except for a few expensive recruits, but we shouldn’t be giving eleven goals away against them.

I think its time for us to revert to the settled midfield we had last year that revolves around Cullen, Cork and Brownhill. Berge could be a part of that but he doesn’t look fit enough at the moment to me at least.

In addition, its unfathomable to me that Taylor isn’t in at left back. All this talk about Vinnys system but it isn’t working and Delcroix isn’t a patch on Charlie. And finally Muric should be in for his superior distribution, as well as being a major part of last seasons success.

Trafford - 4. Needs taking out of the team for his own sake.

Al-Dakhil - 3. Complete gash and should never play at RB again.

Beyer - 4. The best of the back line.

O’Shea - 3. I’m really not seeing it with this guy. He’s been poor in every game.

Roberts - 4. Not a LB.

JBG - 4. No worse than anyone else.

Cullen - 3. Looks lost.

Berge - 3. Gash, yet again.

Koleosho - 6. Looks a great talent. Someone who wanted to actually take the game to Spurs.

Andouni - 4. Anonymous.

Foster - 6. A completely different player to last season.

Subs:

Brownhill - 5
Redmond - 4
Delcroix - 4
Larssen - 5.

I'll be honest, I remember the (somewhat contentious!) thread titled "George Boyd, what's the point?". I'm feeling a "Sander Berge, what's the point" thread coming along anytime soon! 😉
