All part of the process.
This is a 3-4+ year journey under VK , and we’re already waaaaaay ahead of schedule.

Got it wrong today but there’s plenty of credit in the bank, no way I’m going to get on his back, he barely put a foot wrong last season.

even if we get relegated I know we would come back stronger - same happened under Dyche. He's learning as he goes and whilst I'm questioning his decisions to abandon the experienced players I'm 100% content to watch and support the journeyBurnley1989 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 7:10 pmGot it wrong today but there’s plenty of credit in the bank, no way I’m going to get on his back, he barely put a foot wrong last season.

VK has got Tressor Zaroury. Benny Jay to add to the team
Unlucky for Lyle good goal and nearly got a second
Chance missed by Zeki and we could have been 3 up
Poor marking gifted 3 goals and this VK will correct

Re: Vincent Kompany
People were questioning him this time last year as he took some time to get us sorted.
Unfortunately we aren't playing the likes of Blackpool, Cardiff & Stoke this year, who we could take points against while we were learning.
I don't like seeing us get tonked but I have faith that Vinny will see us right.

Agree. Only point I’d make is that these kind of heavy beatings mean we have to deliver the goods against the teams we’d expect to be more competitive against.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 7:25 pmPeople were questioning him this time last year as he took some time to get us sorted.

He will turn it around.
The full back positions are a worry for me, unless he sticks with 3 at the back and finds two players in the squad who can play wing back.
Couple of weeks now to get his thinking straight and have a good look at the squad.

If VK is our manager for 10 years, we win an FA Cup, play european football we can still get beat 5-1 at home.
Its all part of football.
There are worring signs but we need to breathe.

Jbg isn't a left back, just like Connor Roberts isn't, vitinho isn't, Al dakhill isn't, delcroix isn't. We have a left back right under he's nose, why not use him.roperclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 7:33 pmCould JGB do a job at left back? Like Ashley Young converted?

You do realise that with tactics, you don’t always get it right. The idea is to get it right more often than not.
The great Sir Alex always regretted not man marking Messi with Ji-Sung Park in the CL final at Wembley.
Benefit of hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Re: Vincent Kompany
Spent all last season getting the right balance / system
Yet this season that’s all out the window new balance / system to say we started pre season early
Problem being you don’t get time in this league, it may get better it may be abysmal all we can hope is that he stays and commits whichever way it goes
We spend over 100 million and have to play a right back at left back is ridiculous, son scored a hat trick today who was marking him? It’s between three if a individual was marking him then we can identify the issues
Benson can’t get a game not to mention zaroury back from suspension and oderbert signs for 12million is behind another 6 wingers no wonder tella didn’t want to come back
And he will want to accommodate tressor?, Ramsey
Bastien, churlinov and obafemi (yes he’s injured but won’t start before jayrod) wages what are they up to, could put Taylor in this category cause by the looks of it he is not in the plans unfortunately not his fault
Berge getting stick for not being able to play left wing and cullen player of the season last year isn’t playing the role that made him the player of the season
Not being doom and gloom but things have to be sorted koleosho can go past players no problem so brining on Larsen/benson/oderbert/zaroury/ tresor/ redmond doesn’t change the game it’s just personal if they are getting brought on to play more central and change of formation maybe
We have 4 good stock gks
Yes the future ‘with Vinny’ is bright and I think with pace is bright but a lot of money has been spent and we need to have a identity asap
No Academy players breaking into the first team with the volume of players we have but dodgeson goes out on loan and we play roberts at right back and have Taylor nowhere near the team
Just a opinion on what I’ve seen not negative we have played city, villa and spurs we might have tanked Luton still the same situation
UTC

Little old burnley are now way above championship level but will take time under kompany to match the big boys, we need to have faith !
I am still going for a 16th finish but with the way we now play we are going to get some thrashing along the way.
Another one here for Taylor at left back

VK looked a bit shell-shocked in his post match interview tonight on Sky, I think he may have a look inward and perhaps tweak his philosophy.
Some assumption I know but he was nowhere near as positive today as any previous interview.

Winners look at themselves when the lose, they never look for excuses or blame others, always what they need to do so that it doesn’t happen again.

Not after spending £100 million on players and not sure we conceded 5 at home under Dyche or 11 in three consecutive home gamesClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 7:08 pmSo was Dyche and we let in 5 against Spurs when he was our manager too.
Our present defence and MF are similar to 2009-10 and the Howe era
Folk can criticise Dyche but as soon as he arrived he tightened up our defence and had he had £50 million to spend in his last two seasons we would not have been relegated
We have the players to play pass ball from the back in the Championship but not in this league

He has a brilliant philosophy, style, etc but it needs to be married with some pragmatism. Starting with Charlie at LB, Brownhill in with Berge / Cullen & Muric in nets.
A few tweaks and we’ll be rocking, I think.

Re: Vincent Kompany
We need to support Kompany and the team but he was absolutely wrong to make so many changes to last seasons team imo.
Three games in now and we have 0 points with a minus 8 goal difference. That isn’t good no matter what way you look at it.

Re: Vincent Kompany
We looked like a team of lost little boys for a spell in the second half today. I'm a bit worried a lot of our squad these days aren't the type who'll fancy a relegation scrap.
Re: Vincent Kompany
Unfortunately VK can’t turn our average 10 stone weaklings into 13 stone muscle men,it was like Arne v Danny Devito.
Re: Vincent Kompany
It isn’t good but I’d argue if you note we’ve played the current top 2 and the 2nd most inform team in the league across the last 9 months there’s some context/perspective.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 8:03 pmWe need to support Kompany and the team but he was absolutely wrong to make so many changes to last seasons team imo.

For example if we had Sheffield’s or Everton’s opening fixtures I’m extremely confident we’d have a win / some points on board and these comments might not be made.

I think with some of the sort of regular faces we’d have least not been beaten in this manner which would have sort of kept some of the ‘feel good factor’.
All of a sudden it seems to me at least that the fans/team/etc are now (not to use a Dycheism) but ‘out of alignment’ and that’s the worrying part.

I get it last year, he'd only been at Burnley for a few months. Just a shame 1 year later and Vinny is trying to figure it out all over again.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 7:25 pmPeople were questioning him this time last year as he took some time to get us sorted.

I guess that's the problem that comes with loaning alot of players?
I always remember Brendan Rodger's Swansea came up playing some really nice stuff (similar to us last year) and they were able to carry it on the following year, out playing many PL teams. But they kept the same core of players that helped them the previous season (along with strengthening)
I'm not so worried by the results, as we have played some top teams already (while beating Forest away in the Cup) I'm more concerned with the mid-game tweaking/testing. Moving to 5 at the back at half time was a bad call, but he was clearly trying to seal up that defense (which Spurs ripped apart at will)
I'm waiting to see how we do against some of the lower PL teams, hopefully it will all come good.. UTC!

Experiment by all means….when it’s the right time and place. Today was NOT it. Wtf were we supposed to learn from that?
He has credit in the bank, but that will run out VERY quickly by making decisions like that today.

Realistically we were always going to be in a relegation fight. A few fans thought we might be like a shadow Man City and pushing into the top 10.. that was never going to happen. I'd have taken a 17th place finish before the season started, and I still would do now.
