Carabao cup tv games

Post by giveusaB » Mon Sep 04, 2023 11:26 am

Manchester United v Crystal Palace has been selected for viewing on Tuesday 26 September, while Newcastle vs Man City will be shown Wednesday 27 September.
Yes again Manchester Utd on tv when lower league clubs could do with the money.

I would rather watch paint dry than those fixtures.

Whereas the Saudis and Sheikh Mansour are in need of the money presumably?

Why do they think people want to watch teams who play each other every week? Surely Salford v Burnley is more appealing to the neutral. I really don't get it.

To proper football fans yes, but the majority of people watching on Sky are just casual fans who probably haven’t even heard of the likes of Salford city. Sky have over 30 years of data and that data shows the big clubs always bring in more viewers no matter who they play.
More viewers means more ad revenue. Sky and the end of the day are a business and what to make as much as possible.

Fair point.

I also thought Gary Neville would see to Salford being on! ;)

No surprise in the picks, the number of complaints I seen yesterday because someone had to put up with Palace v Wolves when Liverpool Villa was on at the same time but not on tv was unreal. TV companies will always pick like this. Some of the FA Cup ties the BBC showed involving Man Utd at home to lower league sides was really poor.

They'll follow the money more often than not unfortunately. Though I agree most real football fans surely would prefer to watch Salford v Burnley.

The possible issue is them being on in the last round Vs Leeds.
