Yairo Moreno played for Columbia and is still in his 20s. I know nothing about him beyond that. Left back pickings are slim.

Not much better on the CM front, although I see Gbamin is a free agent. Had a poor spell at Everton, but he’s a big-ish CDM and appears to have had a decent career pre-Goodison. Everton paid £25m for him.
I'd imagine the work permit would be a difficulty unfortunately.

Schulz is an interesting one.

Signed for Dortmund for 25m and was getting in the Germany team but a combination of injuries, the form of Rafael Geurreiro and an accusation of domestic violence saw him frozen out and he never kicked on, just 40 games in 4 years with them.

He was an absolute baller at one point, definite quality there but whether he’s motivated to put it to use is another story
played 162 games in the Bundesliga. Worth a 12 month contract?

Good interview which I enjoyed listening to.

However, maybe it’s the cynic in me but, I don’t really believe the Tresor story. It was pretty common knowledge he wasn’t sure about the move to Burnley and changed his mind several times. Even in his interview after he signed its was a little awkward when asked about the ‘was it on or off’ question. I think this could be a story the club have tried to push to take the pressure off the player and the damage it could potentially cause with his relationship with the fans before it’s even begun.
Actually it makes perfect sense.

The cryptic instagram message under the plane saying “if you’re reading this we’ve left” caused some panic on here but it was clearly a jokey message to say he got the scheduled flight from Amsterdam on Friday morning.

The bit about agents causing a delay in signing to the player’s frustration also makes sense. The new rules from October 1st Matt was alluding to probably are the bit in the attached that says commission will be capped at 3% (new FIFA rule). This tallies with the rumours flying around on Friday that something to do with the financials of the 12 month loan period was causing a hold up.

https://www.walkermorris.co.uk/newslett ... e-of-play/

So it’s all good I reckon. Welcome to Burnley Mike, we’re glad to have you and there is no reason for the fans to get the hump about the delay signing :D

He was getting the thick end of £100k at Dortmund.

Telling that no-one has snapped him up yet, or did so in any of the past 4 years when he was barely playing.

Matty Longstaff on the list, just shows how fragile a career it can be for some.

Watched him a lot in his Inter days. Very good player at the time but his career seems to have gone downhill.

This is well worth a listen, didn't realise that there is vat + a 4% premier League levy on transfers, verses 9%from abroad. You can see now why you get better value abroad.

Hard work to listen to at times because of the background noise. The BBC interview was much better because of that.

The Vat on transfers makes the 31.5m for maatsen even more baffling unless that includes the vat.

Video is private so can't watch, but VAT isn't relevant as it is reclaimed by the buying club.

It has to be paid in full, up front. The video is on the clubs YouTube channel.

Still can't see the video, what's the title?

VAT is fully reclaimable so it isn't a cost of the transfer and shouldn't be included in any comparison to value from abroad.

I watched it yesterday but can’t find it now. Strange given they were advertising it for at least a day before it went live.

Some appeasement I think regarding the left back thing when he mentioned looking at out of contract players, but it was very interesting and insightful. Good listen

Yeah the VAT thing is a moot point, it’s payable then reclaimable. Technically there’s VAT on transfers from abroad too, only it’s in and out on the same VAT return so no actual cash flow disadvantage.

Another good interview on Radio Lancs last night. Really doesn’t spare any details.

It seems the 25 man squad is in and we’ve left a player out who might be on his way to Turkey - doesn’t say who. Also confirms we can no longer sign any free agents.

Yes, I also listened to this earlier from last night on Radio Lancs. He spoke well but basically repeated a lot of stuff from the interview a couple of weeks ago.

Williams mentioned that a striker's move fell down on deadline day and we moved to bring them in but the parent club of the player said they had internal injuries to another striker(s) within their squad so couldn't let the player leave for us. The player was apparently gutted as he wanted a PL move. I'm trying to work out who this striker is as it sounded like the move that fell down before our interest might also have been from the PL.

He also mentioned that we put several offers in for lots of different left backs that DIDN'T get out into the public domain.

Daka, I assumed.

Also interesting what he said about CJER’s move collapsing. Took some responsibility, said they were checking and double checking things, then the paperwork went to CJ to sign and he didn’t see it because it was in his spam folder, they got it to PSV with 5 minutes to go & they wouldn’t process it. He said he would’ve done if they really wanted the player which is probably a fair point.

Nothing stopping us signing them, but couldn’t play once the squad list is in until January.

I’ve seen a few clubs release their squad lists today. Ours can’t be far behind. It went in yesterday according to Williams.

Muric has an asterisk.
City academy. I think you’re classed as home grown if at a team for more than three years younger than 21

Just listened to the second half of it. Some other interesting things he said:

- Connor Roberts lives next door but 1 to Alan!
- Alan is considering ways we can tap in to South African markets utilising Lyle Foster and South East Asian market.
- Planning for January has already started.

Bastien is in the 25 man squad
He did say that the player was in the 25.

“ It seems the 25 man squad is in and we’ve left a player out who might be on his way to Turkey”

Does he?

We were offered regiulon from spurs but turned it down.
Obviously don't know the terms, but it's said they turned it down on being a bad business decision.
Interesting as the 31m they offered for Maatsen could only be described as bonkers.

It came out that this deal was £20m guaranteed + potential add ons including % sell on fee which ‘could’ have brought it to £31m.

There was a rumour kicking about a few days ago that Maatsen was going to be frozen out at Chelsea for refusing to leave and not yet having signed a new deal.

For his sake I hope it’s not true.
