Ridiculous Prices....Just my opinion.
Hi all fellow clarets, i have a gripe as to prices that Travelodge, Premier Inn etc, charge to stay at there places in Burnley, i have something to take care of up in Burnley & Blackpool on the following dates, 18th/19th/20th of this month, i look at the prices for those 3 nights & am informed that it will cost me £266 for those 3nights that i might add is with no breakfast, Burnley are not playing at home those 3 days so why is it so expensive when the rooms are all the same and a few days later the same room is available for something around £35 for a night, do they not realise that some people dont have that type of money (me included) no discounts for over 65s/66s, just saying like, have they not heard about the cost of living.....seems not ?.Answers please below, thank you. ps Burnleys Premier Inn on a Saturday night will cost you an eye watering, and wallet emptying £166....its a rip off n scandal.

Premier Inn prices have doubled since last year.
Difficult in Burnley as there is very little creditable competition.

Thats what i have ended up doing, but the train is a drag as you know if you have a car, and besides i prefer the odd pint in Burnley rather than B,Pool 2 pints in Burnley then back to B,POOL to the TRAMWAY at Clevleys & a nice Carvery & a shandy very nice, then back down South on Thursday.

Been on skopelos for the last 10 days... It's hard to believe how much their standards have risen over the years...and it's coupled with very stable prices.
The UK really appears to be falling behind the rest of Europe at an alarming rate..... On everything but price.that is.

Re: Ridiculous Prices....Just my opinion.
I work for Premier Inn, the prices change daily.
The only bargains are booking as far in advance as possible.
Last week I had 2 rooms booked, one at £47, the other £143 for the same night.

Good luck with with Northern Rail and services to Blackpool which seem to have a high cancellation rate. The excuses seem to have changed. it used to be due to 'unavailability of crew' but more recently they've changed it to 'late timetable alteration '. Its really time this company had the franchise taken off them, still, I'm sure Rishi will sort it.Carwin261 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2023 7:27 pmSomeone has already posted that Northern Rail are doing some really cheap deals this month ,don’t know if they run to Blackpool though ,2 of us have got Todmorden to Manchester return for £5 next Tuesday ,so bus pass Cliviger to Tod ,Tod to Man ,a lunch in Mackie Mayors and a few pints 3 1/2 hrs in Manchester back to Tod ,and bus pass home ,pity the beers crap ,and mega expensive.

Re: Ridiculous Prices....Just my opinion.
I’m coming over to England in November. Always fly into London and stay a couple of days. Always use to use Holiday Inn Bloomsbury, near to Euston for the train to Manchester. Use to cost between £50 and £75 a night. Checked it got this November. 2 nights £500
Now staying at premier inn Heathrow. £43 per night. Tube station next door, I don’t mind the tube into London.
Also now flying to Manchester, £62 cheaper than I could get a train ticket.

The franchise was taken off the private company (Arriva) 2 years ago. It has been publicly owned/run since then.Billyblah wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2023 11:52 pmGood luck with with Northern Rail and services to Blackpool which seem to have a high cancellation rate. Re: Ridiculous Prices....Just my opinion.
What hasn't gone up in price over the last 2 years?
There is literally nothing that's the same price as what it was 2 years ago..... the whole C19 debacle has forced every company to put their prices up due to increased costs to them on almost every aspect of running a business - and unfortunately it's us that have to put up with the price increase!

Travelodge and Premier Inn made their names as cheap, affordable, clean, no frills absolutely decent short term hotel accommodation and at one time I used them quite frequently. Nowadays they are ridiculously expensive as I've found countless times when trying to book overnights for Clarets away matches in the last couple of seasons.

Re: Ridiculous Prices....Just my opinion.
Also a very major factor in availability vs price of hotel rooms ( though not so much Burnley ) is the 10’s of 000’s allocated nationwide to those seeking asylum /processing etc etc . This isn’t a political point it’s simply a % factor which has reduced overall supply in the industry ,thus pushing prices up organically, throw in seasonal demand and inflation and things can be pricey .

Asda are doing 40 cans of Kronenbourg for £30, that's 75p per can. Other drinks are available in the offer.
It's 1 case for £10, 2 for £16, 3 for £24 or 4 for £30!
