Prison break

Post by Burnley Ace » Thu Sep 07, 2023 8:53 pm

Just a couple of things, I keep hearing he was in the army therefore he’s resourceful and trained etc, but what regiment was he in? Also, have they got the team from Hunted involved?

They will catch him, and those that were stupid enough to help him.

You just can’t disappear without leaving a trace in the uk when the top dogs are looking for you, I’d be surprised if they dont already have an idea of the area he is in and catch him in the next 24 hours

Sounds like the prison is going to be embarrassed how the truck wasn’t checked underneath … maybe the officers bacon and sausage sandwich had just turned up and he simply waved the truck out ..

I presume the 'chief inspector of prisons' Charlie Taylor occupies the Left of the prison's five Wings. At least he gets a game here.

If he was in the signals for a short time ,he’s probs a computer geek ,you don’t join the signals if you wanna be anywhere near a killing zone . Not to say they’re not an essential part of the army though .

First official sighting of him, coming out from under the truck.
Now they are checking for CCTV in the area and, in London, there are a lot of cameras.

I was in the signals around 50 years ago and, as a technician, I wasn't even usually in the same country as any fighting. Stuff would be trucked out that couldn't be fixed by telemechs or the combat signalmen (who were embedded within every unit in the whole Army, and were meant to do dangerous stuff). We still had to do Northern Ireland training and be competent in warcraft with regular training to help us keep up with what may have been necessary should the Cold War become a hot one.

Good viewpoint 👍. Been out for 28yrs ,signals we thought as radio jammers /radio ops which of course they were/are. We had a very small attachment of some rather nifty para lads once who I’m sure were a signal unit . The role today with high tech must be almost unrecognisable. Think there may have been a bit of crossover with engineers too back in the day ?

While there may well be geeks in sig reg it’s likely just as well with todays tech. Be interesting to see what happened to this guy once his case comes to court .

Which bit is wrong ? That the Signals are an essential part of the army or they there’s a decent amount of computer geeks that join them ? . The context being that the prisoner who may have been a spy/planted fake bombshell etc etc likely joined the RS as opposed to say a Reg where he may actually have to fight . If he is guilty he’s highly unlikely to want to have split blood for King and country .

Every single soldier in the Army is trained and retrained for fighting. Cooks, mechanics, bandsmen, Lifeguards, Technicians, etc. - every single one of them is fully prepared to be deployed if needed. A wimpy geek, no matter how clever or gifted, wouldn't last long if they couldn't learn how to be a soldier - that training starts the day you join up and never ends (though it may become less regular or rigorous) whilst your 'trade' training doesn't start until after you have proved you can do the soldier bit at least competently!

This guy was a good soldier by all accounts, but is alleged to have been passing on information about secret technology to the Iranians after pulling some stupid stunts to try and get kicked out.
