I remember the game well, not for the football but the unholy stink around the place. The ground was so new that the earthworks hadn't settled in the surrounding area giving rise to the foul smell.

Swanny's tackle was an assault!

Always enjoy reading these more recent articles and I particularly like looking at the opposition team. Some went on to have careers at a high level…Primus for example.

Nick Dearing following in his father's footsteps defending the scumbags of Burnley who appeared before the magistrates....

We seemed to have a load of strikers that were hotly tipped for the first team without breaking through around this time. Carr-Lawton, shandran, Rasmussen etc

If you are thinking Basil, then Nick is his brother.

Is he? Must be many years younger then. I worked with him for a short time at the Turf when Basil was a director.

Just checked and Basil was admitted as a solicitor in 1967, Nick qualified in 1998. That's a hell of a gap for brothers.
