Bradford v Grimsby
Anyone watching on Sky Sports ? 1-0 to Grimbsy at HT. Great goal, good cross and header a lovely goal on the eye.
Matty Derbyshire is still knocking about upfront for Bradford, he’s 38 and from a family full of b@stards if i remember correctly ? Born in Great Harwood.
As for Bradford are they a big club ? Certainly got unreal support for the level they play at, 15k season ticket holders is that more than us ?

Re: Bradford v Grimsby
They cut their season ticket prices to about £50 about 10 years ago and have been getting big crowds ever since. Don’t know what they charge now but I think they’re still relatively cheap. Guess once you get people hooked-in…ClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2023 1:37 pmAnyone watching on Sky Sports ? 1-0 to Grimbsy at HT. Great goal, good cross and header a lovely goal on the eye.

Grimsby have magnificent away support for the size of the club they take good numbers everywhere.
Suprised to here the Grimsby players stayed in a hotel overnight it’s only and hour and half away

Easier to sell season tickets at under £200 for an adult.ClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2023 1:37 pmAnyone watching on Sky Sports ? 1-0 to Grimbsy at HT. Great goal, good cross and header a lovely goal on the eye.

Also worth remembering that Bradford is a big City with a large population. City have never really attracted the sort of support that maybe they should for somewhere with a population of over 500,000.
Barring a little success for the Bulls, before they continued the Bradford trend of the local teams going bust, none of the teams in the city have ever amounted to much.
It’ll probably never happen but I’d love to see Park Avenue swap places with those of the awful kit colours!

I’m sure MDWat often claims to hate Bradford City but did it come out that he actually goes to watch them now and again?

Yes, both of us are from Bradford.StayingDown4Ever wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2023 2:40 pmAre they actually from Bradford?

If he goes to watch them, he’s not told me! He’d be getting a full on Chinese burn if that was the case.

Yep, he says he goes when he can…. When he thinks they have a good chance of winning. You know what they’d say about those types who complain too much, and their secret feelings….

It’s a long story but DC & MDWat are from a Bradford supporting family but Bradford & not Bradford City. I can assure you, despite suggestions from dandeclaret, that neither are Bradford City fans.
Well that’s what they tell me.

By that logic, may I ask why ClaretsPadiham is a Burnley fan and not a Padiaham fan then?

According to ClaretsPadihams logic ... as I have a Bradford Postcode I should follow Bradford too, even though Bradford FC is 33 miles away compared to Burnley at 19 miles.

When Stuart McCall was falling off car roofs p!ssed when Bradford stayed up in the Prem I was Glory hunting at Turf Moor in the 3rd division
Re: Bradford v Grimsby
I’m 7.1 miles to Valley Parade, 22 miles to Turf Moor (feels longer after a defeat),10.8 miles to The Shay and 11.1 to the Horsfall Stadium.
I’d love to know what percentage of fans we have from West / North Yorkshire, at Burnley. I’d guess that it’s a reasonably high with plenty of fans coming from Keighley, Bingley, Skipton, Todmorden, Hebden Bridge and surrounding areas.
Turf Moor is one of the nearest league clubs to lots of west and North Yorkshire folk. As much as Burnley is of course proudly a Lancashire club, a lot of us Yorkies love it as if it were of the better colour rose.

A most unusual time in history, Bradford City achieving anything of note! No wonder the flame haired muppet was so trollied!

Back in the 60s, when you still had to drive through Skipton to get to Burnley, the bus stops used to be heaving with Burnley fans waiting to get to the match. Same at Earby.DCWat wrote: ↑Sun Sep 10, 2023 9:25 pmI’m 7.1 miles to Valley Parade, 22 miles to Turf Moor (feels longer after a defeat),10.8 miles to The Shay and 11.1 to the Horsfall Stadium.
