Young referee gets first game in front of prominent spectators

Post by ClaretTony » Sun Sep 10, 2023 11:56 am

A15-year-old refereed his first game yesterday in grassroots football. I don't know how many were watching but he had these two keeping an eye on his performance.

A day he'll remember for the rest of his life, I bet.

That will be something to remember.

Glad to see the Man Utd shorts weren't an issue.

Love this Tony.

Well done to the ref.

Glad I don’t have them two dads in my Sunday team. Would make me feel a bit tactically deficient

I assume the ref is the one dressed in black, who is the person to his right?

I wouldn’t have guessed that at all. Thanks for telling me.

I thought it was just some little kid stood holding his scooter at first glance.

Kevin coming to us on 31st Jan, on loan, to build up his fitness? I'm sure we'll be able to give him a few minutes here and there.

Good luck to him:

I was walking through my local park last year and there was a match going on. Under 13s I’d guess. One team were managed by two blokes. I’ve never seen someone take kids football so seriously. One of the managers was going ballistic at the ref for something or other. It was embarrassing. I don’t get that stressed at work, I’d dread to think what the blokes heart is doing.

I wish the young man luck. We need more refs and good refs are always invaluable

I think he has a calf injury that will make him look about a foot shorter than normal
