Bellingham is a baller.
Running the show, they can’t get near him.

Re: Scotland v England
England playing some great stuff. Scots can’t cope with them. Kudos to Southgate for harnessing the young attacking talent at his disposal. Of course the two holding midfielders (who aren’t exactly holding) are key to playing out of the press, and some of the one-touch football has been a joy.

Re: Scotland v England
Does anyone please know the logic behind the late signalling of offside ?
It may have already been discussed on the forum but I'm still at a loss as to the logic.

Re: Scotland v England
Our other best recent performance was in Naples when we beat Italy with those 2 holding. Really let’s the likes of Jude and Rashford etc push beyond Kane.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 8:24 pmEngland playing some great stuff. Scots can’t cope with them. Been impressed with Guehi again too.

Re: Scotland v England
Yeah a good performance that. Hardly like Rice is a holding midfielder in this system too, obviously he’s shielding the defence out of possession but his athleticism allows him to be an all round box to box midfielder.
Re: Scotland v England
The criticism of Southgate has been loud but the praise needs to be loud too. Scotland haven't been able to cope with England and this is Scotland playing close to full throttle while England have two or three gears yet.
Foden and Bellingham are two extremely special players. They could play for any team on the planet in about five different positions. They have to start for England as often as possible.

Re: Scotland v England
If the flag turns out to be wrong they want to give the play the opportunity to develop before making the call, in case a goal is scored. With VAR, all goals are checked for offside anyway, so there’s no point in risking stopping the game incorrectly and denying a team a possible goal.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 8:25 pmDoes anyone please know the logic behind the late signalling of offside ?

Re: Scotland v England
When Rice came into the England set-up I thought we finally had a class MFer. Since Bellingham came in he’s now just a holding MFer. He’s not gone backwards but Bellingham is on another level.

Re: Scotland v England
Why bother qualifying if you’re Scotland? They’re absolutely hopeless.
All goal hopes pinned on that famous Scottish/Leicester born lad Che Adams….hilarious.

It's mad that one of the best players in the world is called... Phil. A twenty-three year old called Phil in 2023.

Re: Scotland v England
Kane looking a bit leggy. A few balls across the box that he’s been a bit slow to react to.
Re: Scotland v England
That’s correct, but for me it’s resulted in linesmen becoming too reliant and / or unwilling to make the obvious decisions.Greenmile wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 8:29 pmIf the flag turns out to be wrong they want to give the play the opportunity to develop before making the call, in case a goal is scored. There are occasions that risk injuries to players where an offside hasn’t been made, when it blatantly should have been.
It’s all the more frustrating when they flag after a goal scoring opportunity has been missed.

Re: Scotland v England
Excellent England. Slightly different style, crisp passing over 25yds instead of the usual 10-15 means we are keeping them on the move and creating space for others. The one touch stuff around their box hasn't always come off but it looks good.

Missed Saturdays game, but England playing some sublime stuff tonight.
Makes me laugh how the usual critics go all quiet when the goals go in.

Phil from Stockport. Should be forty-eight and fitting windows not twenty-three and opening defences. Class.

Re: Scotland v England
Bellingham and Foden so good on the ball
Rice solid and getting better
Dunk looks a proper defender
Could and should be 3 or 4 in front
We really do have one of the best attacks in World football.

Re: Scotland v England
I hear what you're saying Greenmile, but the risks of injury, for instance in the
frantic action to score/stop a goal for nò reason is crazy. If they don't trust a
linesman (sorry, assistant referee !!!) then what's the point in having them ?
We sit towards the front of the Bob Lord and it's blindingly obvious, at such
close quarters, that they do and give exactly what they're told to by the ref with that
bloody thing stuck in their ears. It's embarrassing and shameful at times.

Any team that plays 'Yes Sir I can boogie' before the start of a half deserves to lose, and lose extremely heavily!

You asked what the logic behind flagging late was, so I gave you the answer. I’m not saying I agree with the policy, but there is some logic behind it, so I’ve told you what it is.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 8:45 pmI hear what you're saying Greenmile, but the risks of injury, for instance in the

I wrote at HT about the crisp 25yd passing, from Maguire coming on that stopped. He slows everything down cos he can’t make a decision. Lovely touch for the goal though.

Re: Scotland v England
Poor defending but Harry Maguire really is a magnet for bad luck. Lost control of the game this half.
