Will it be a good game or another case of watching paint dry?

Never really understood international rivalry. The clips of England fans singing anti-Germany songs are well cringe.

Glasgow is the biggest shithole known to man, worked there for nearly 2 years, poor man’s Manchester.
Re: Scotland v England
Don't you mean deep fried Mars bars?
Was in Glasgow in the early 90s and before catching the train home my mate said, let's have a beer in the Saracens Head. Most of the Gorbals had been levelled but the Sarry Heed was still standing.
Steel mesh covered the windows making it look like it was all boarded up, but getting closer we noticed the door was open. In we went to this legendary watering hole.
It was a bit dark inside but To my right, there was a fight going on between two guys rolling around on the floor.
The clientele were like characters from a Dickens story.
I don't think there was anyone in there who didn't have scars or bit of their anatomy missing.
By the time we'd ordered two pints of heavy the two men fighting on the floor had stopped fighting and were effing and jeffing at each other. All over a misplaced pint. No one paid any mind to the pair.
It was quite an experience and the fastest pint I've ever finished.

If it takes a pumped up Scottish team to help get shut of the empty shell of absolute nothingness that is Southgate then I'll settle for that.

Was hoping to watch it in Lanzerotte but it looks it is on channel 4. Anybody know if it is covered by any other channel? The hotel tv has about 90 channels but no channel 4. The hotel Internet is crap so no use via the phone.

Re: Scotland v England
They will be well up for it, we won’t.
We’ll be trying very hard to not lose the game, they will be trying to win it.
Absolutely obscene that we will set up like that, beyond heartbreaking, especially considering the wealth of attacking talent in the squad.
I honestly believe “smithy” could do the pre match planning and team talk and they’d be better than if the skill vacuum that is gareth Southgate did it.

Re: Scotland v England
One thing I've never understood about the Scottish fans (including Celtic & Rangers) is why they travel in such vast numbers to any match going, whether that be in the UK or abroad.
No other country on earth comes remotely close to matching their fanaticism or numbers when it comes to supporting the team.

What’s there not to understand ? Celtic & Rangers are massive teams with huge worldwide fanbases, there’s loads of English teams that would take a lot more any other of the Scottish teams would.Spijed wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 7:05 pmOne thing I've never understood about the Scottish fans (including Celtic & Rangers) is why they travel in such vast numbers to any match going, whether that be in the UK or abroad.

England are the best supported nation in the world the numbers we take away everywhere for the size of our country, nobody compares.

I’m inclined to agree, but when that national anthem specifically calls out your own nation by name, it seems a mite more understandable.

The disgusting attitude of the majority of Scots to England is one of the main reasons their 2 so called big bigoted clubs should never get within a million miles of the English Premier League.

That's true, but the irony is when a Scottish athlete, for example, wins a gold medal at the Olympics or whatever, 'God Save the king' is the anthem that's played!

Don't talk nonsense, Glasgow is an amazing city as is Edinburgh. It's a beautiful country, The Highlands and Islands are breathtaking. Puts much of the South 'flat as a witches tit' of England to shame.
The Scots are fantastic people... until it comes to football then they're idiots. The words to Flower of Scotland would not be tolerated if we sang that about them. They really need to get over this silly hatred of all things English. It's all a bit boring.
