4th ODI v NZ

Post by claretonthecoast1882 » Fri Sep 15, 2023 2:25 pm

139/3 from 25 overs

Malan 84*.

I imagine that is the end of the debate regarding Malan at 3 or Brook who seems to struggle in ODI's in his place for the World Cup

Brook in for root and current form maybe the harder decision

Malan has to be 3 for me

Root hasn't been great but could never drop him for Brook, if Roy is finally fit then I would be going for

Bairstow
Roy
Malan
Root
Stokes
Buttler

Have to admit that Malan is looking pretty assured - he seems to have been highly ranked for a few years without really doing too much but he is definitely a class act.

I was surprised during this innings when they showed he’d scored 1,000 ODI runs in just 21 games. And he’s batting well in this game. Now on 93.

Stokes omitted and rightly so. Simply not good enough 😂

Joint fastest with Pietersen & Trott for England and same number of games as Viv Richards not bad company to be in. Only 3 have done it quicker for anybody.

100 Malan. :D

Root last 6 innings

7,0,6,0,4, 29(today dropped on 7 and 8) was meaning on current form, but Root is class and can offer a bowling option,
