Today's Games 16/09

Post by CombatClaret » Sat Sep 16, 2023 12:44 pm

Wolves 1-0 up and looking good.

I don't think they will struggle this season. They looked the same on their opener away at United but despite having more chances and shots on goal they contrived to lose it 1-0.

Wolves missed an open goal. Should be 2-0 with an easy header.

I thought they were meant to be a rival.

Liverpool look really dodgy in defence and keep giving the ball away cheaply in midfield (Mac Allister especially). Gomez doent look anything like a good right back either. Liverpool still carry a threat up front and may yet still win this but they don't look like top 4 contenders on the form the've shown here so far. .

What is it with Brighton players. Look very good playing for them, but poor once they leave the club.

Kudos to BHA for knowing when to get rid. Maupay a good example for starters.

Tbf to McAllister I'm guessing he's just played 2 games for Argentina, one at high altitude in Bolivia then had a long flight back. Not exactly ideal preparation.

Good result for us.. Got to keep teams within reach until Vinny sorts the defence out.

Wouldn't mind it to be honest. Would make for some cracking games. If we stay up obvs. Which I think we will.

Although it is funny that they're the only ones of the big three Lancs clubs not to have played in the Prem.

Yes, would be terrific if they got promoted, Lancashire rivals obviously, but also good to see un unfancied team upset the applecart (a bit like we have).

Hojland has one scrubbed off for ManUre. Ball had just gone out over the deadball line. Thank goodness for VAR.

It must have been really obvious for Brighton to get a var decision v man u. I suppose they will feel obliged to level it up in the second half.

Blades 0-0 with Spurs. Bkades looking sifficult to break down. Could have been ahead with a couple of good chances.

Luton, the same. Bell with an easy chance at the back post could put them ahead.

Man United are hilarious. Other than the obvious, I think they're my favourite team to see lose. Maybe they should spend some more money.

Sheffield United have stayed in the game for longer than a half of football, giving themselves a chance and they might just well have taken it.

Let’s be honest sheffields starting eleven isn’t actually bad

They strengthened the areas they needed to. Relegation is not as straight forward as some fans think

Blades look like a mature team who know what is needed in this league. They won't roll over for anyone. They lack a bit of quality in depth like ToonClaret said.

For all our 'exciting' players, I'd like a little more menace and maturity in our lineup.

I believe that we weren’t prepared to pay the fee for Hamer who was clearly the best centre mid in the Championship last year…presumably because he couldn’t be flipped for a decent profit so instead invested in an un needed goalkeeper and an extra few wingers.

3 games in and the soft gets have started attacking the club with players we haven’t signed.Get a chuffing grip or go and watch Preston because they’ll be up next season and we’re bound to be relegated with all the **** we’ve signed.

These things happen.
I've noticed, apart from the results, the quality of some of the goals we have conceded. Really good moves and really good strikes, and yes some naivety as well.
Sheff Utd have been pummelled every game, and the common theme is how many chances the opposition have wasted.
I'd still rather be in our shoes than theirs.
