Re: Today's Football
Looks like Leeds have this in the bag.
0-2
0-2
Re: Today's Football
I think we're getting close to the point where we start considering whether it's better for Everton to get spanked so it destroys their morale even more, at the risk of the spanking advancing Dyche's sacking and giving them a new manager bounce which might get them two or three wins in a short period of time, or whether it's better for them to look okay but lose 2-1, but they keep Dyche because the performances aren't completely terrible, any they carry on drudging towards relegation.

Re: Today's Football
Leeds up 3-0 with just a few minutes left- emphatic away win for them.
Hopefully similar emphatic away wins for Chelsea and Arsenal in the EPL later so that we can climb above Cherries and Toffees with a win tomorrow.

Re: Today's Football
I suggested this in the summer and some on here were fairly negative about it. I think he has a bit of everything and would provide us with something we lack, and a replacement for Cork like you say. Leeds got him for a good price too I think.claretspice wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 2:51 pmVery early days and perhaps another year in the Championship is what he needs, but Ampadu looks to me the sort of long term replacement for Cork we may not have signed this summer.

Chelsea look very ordinary.
Re: Today's Football
Chelsea got quite a few injuries but yeah they do look ordinary.
No doubt all their injured players will be back in time for when we play them in a few weeks!

Lots if skillful players knocking it around in the modern style ... no end product yet.
Re: Today's Football
I think what sums them up is spending almost £1bn and Connor Gallagher is the captain.

Re: Today's Football
They’ve been so sloppy. Lazy inaccurate passing, wild shots, no composure. I fancy Bournemouth to nick one.

Gallagher is impressive in all the basics of the game but to be regular international needs more quality.
3 goals for Chelsea I think I heard.
Not enough.

Re: Today's Football
Plenty of talent on chelsea, but their lack of a striker is hurting them. Jackson does not look ready for prime time. They only scored 38 goals last year and I don't see them scoring much more than that.

Jackson misses another chance.
I like the look of him but CF's have to take more chances than he has so far for Chelsea

Re: Today's Football
ok, can someone tell me how that's offside when the ball is played by an Everton player ?
Re: Today's Football
How’s that offside? What a poor angle to make a decision on.

I presume Nketiah was offside when the Arsenal player played the pass into the Everton player wasn’t he?!

Dwight hardly touched the ball.

Re: Today's Football
I bet they find a better angle by Monday morning to show it was actually onside. Too late to affect the decision of course.

Re: Today's Football
Gabriel played the ball sideways, it was then intercepted by an Everton player who deliberately tried to intercept it, there's no lack of intention there. There will no doubt be something that enabled them to rule it out but I'm not sure what it is

Re: Today's Football
like I said further down, the Everton lad is chasing the ball trying to intercept it - I have no idea how they can then call it a lack of intention after he plays it, also from the angle on the halfway line (albeit on only one viewing) it looks to me like Gabriel plays it sideways rather than forwards.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 4:55 pmHe was judged offside when the arsenal

Need to see it again but I guess it will be clarified that Martinelli was offside

Re: Today's Football
intention isn't though, so either way imho they got it badly wrong. You can't chase the ball with the intent of getting it back and then say it lacks intent when you play the ball, it's daft.

Re: Today's Football
My understanding is that if a pass is played but then unintentionally deflected towards a player in an offside position then it is offside. That appeared to be what happened but would like to see again at half time.
