We were all looking at those last 3 matches at one time this afternoon hoping they would not turn red as the Yanks really got momentum in those middle matches
Rahm's half started to calm me down but it was a long wait while the Europe score stayed on 14

Great spectacle.
It defo go a bit nervy today and you need to kind of ignore the winning margin as after you secure victory it goes a bit flat for those players still out there. Would have been very different if it had gone to the last 2 or 3 games with something to play for.

I said in my earlier post that the yanks were undercooked and I also don’t think they have the team spirit of the Europeans. I was on the bbc website during the coverage on Saturday I think. Someone compared the American pairings as they were being announced on the first tee to a couple that had been married for 25 years (stoney faced and standing a yard apart). They described the European pairings like newly weds on their honeymoon - arms round each other, excited etc !!

I alas tipped up Max Homa as their leading points scorer and Hovland came second overall points with 3.5 points to Rory who got 4 points.

Bethpage next time and those New York golf fans are very loud and pretty obnoxious. Ryder cup is a fantastic atmosphere and one of my favourite sporting events but I dislike how bad it has got with the the crowds and the stuff they are shouting at the players now. The cheering when a player misses a putt or hits a poor shot is also not something i personally like to see. The New York crowds will bring it up a notch too at the next one and would not surprise me at all to see trouble in the crowd at one of the next couple of Ryder Cups.

We'll need long hitters at Bethpage, one of the longest courses if memory serves me well.

This is an interesting view of this bi annual tournament and the author lays some blame on its home win outcome on the behaviour of the home crowds. Maybe there is a malaise towards this competition as this thread barely hit 2 pages...

At the same time the yanks seem to be putting more weight on the Presidents Cup against the rest of the world. They don’t like losing at sport do they ?!!

Some of the PGA tour events have also gone a bit crazy with the crowds made up of pi-ssed up university students.
