By my reckoning the the odds against that are 32,768-1! Almost certainly bent if true.

Think it’s actually 12, I read the chances are 4096/1scouseclaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2023 8:02 pmBy my reckoning the the odds against that are 32,768-1! Almost certainly bent if true.

Re: Cup draw
My number was based on 16 successive home draws. I think 12 would be 2048-1 but I stand to be corrected.
Still the sort of thing that's only likely to happen to clubs like Man U...!

Seems to only attract jobs where those type of players are. Perhaps there’s a reason for that?evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2023 7:08 pmDyche could "develop" all he liked but he inherited one of the worst PL squads and is, indeed, making the best of a bad job, keeping Everton up last season against the odds.
Thing is, another point, keeping Everton up isn’t a miracle, it’s just par, they never get relegated.

Re: Cup draw
I think the reason Everton appointed him was for his track record of turning largely ordinary players into a well drilled and difficult to beat side.
They wanted their club to survive in the Prem and he, as it turned out, was their man.
I did not say keeping Everton up was a miracle, I said it was against the odds.
If he keeps them up again this season and steadies the ship even more, paradoxically he may well be on his way because a big club like Everton in a shiny new toy of a stadium will eventually demand much more than survival.

The odds on winning the lottery are 14m to 1, or were when it started. Does it mean everyone that won, cheated?scouseclaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2023 8:02 pmBy my reckoning the the odds against that are 32,768-1! Almost certainly bent if true.
What's so special about 12 times, anyway? Shrewsbury were drawn at home 11 times in 2017-19, was that because the draw was rigged because Shrewsbury were a big club?
Here's a quiz question. Name the 24 corrupt people who you think cheated to give Man U home draws.
Re: Cup draw
FWIW, at any given time, there is approximately a 1 in 22 chance that one league club is on a run of 12 consecutive home draws or 12 consecutive away draws.

Re: Cup draw
Fascinating draw for us, and I feel a very well matched challenge for our club. I feel Everton are on a par with the likes of Forest, so a great opportunity for us to progress
