He’s better than Stockport.
Re: Matt Lowton
Seems to be falling down the ladder very quickly !
I liked Lowton thought he was a decent player.

Re: Matt Lowton
Feel really sorry for Lowts. A couple of years back he was a Prem regular and now struggling to get in to a league two side.
Shows what dyche did with that squad.
Wish him all the best. Would love to have him back here in a coaching capacity.

Re: Matt Lowton
Seems Championship clubs think otherwise and I believe he was really poor in the few games he played for Huddersfield. He's 34, clearly his best days behind him. Proved to be an excellent player for us for a long time.

Always came over as a footballer who actually enjoyed playing football.
Sound as a pound and was in the away end at Forest which was class.

Was excellent for Burnley, however, nowadays, for some reason, unless you are a big name, the clubs just want young lads for a few quid a week.
Re: Matt Lowton
Love Matt, just glad he’s got the hunger to keep on playing, good luck to him.
Ps. They’re not our rivals anymore they’re drifting in our wake.

Re: Matt Lowton
Best wishes to the lad. His goal against Palace away was memorable. His recent situation may explain why over 30 players are so desperate for a longer final deal.

Re: Matt Lowton
Very good player for us but it was increasingly apparent that some were overrating his ability as the years went on. Appears to be still the case on this thread considering he was by most accounts pretty dreadful at Huddersfield. Stockport would have been a more than decent club for him but looks like it’s not happening.

Re: Matt Lowton
Could be at a stage of his career where he’s not bothered the level he’s playing at, as long as he’s close to his family, you’d imagine they are settled around Manchester area, sure one of Lowts boys is in the junior teams at Burnley, wouldn’t be surprised to see him in and around the training ground doing some coaching

Top lad is Matty and his brother for that matter.
Wish him all the best - just wish it wasn’t bloody Stockport!

Re: Matt Lowton
It's more cost effective really with less injuries & overall output. The older players although offer experience seem to be injured more often than not & suffer niggling reoccurrences.

Re: Matt Lowton
I never thought of that. Yeah, he’s in the abokyon area I think, and probably wants north west football thinking about the family. It’s such a shame many north west sides area struggling now; Oldham, Halifax and Rochdale out of the league, Tranmere on their way out.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 11:17 pmCould be at a stage of his career where he’s not bothered the level he’s playing at, as long as he’s close to his family, you’d imagine they are settled around Manchester area, sure one of Lowts boys is in the junior teams at Burnley, wouldn’t be surprised to see him in and around the training ground doing some coaching
His home town club don’t need him as they’re walking the conference.

Re: Matt Lowton
Interesting you mention his brother. I bumped into him in a pub in Watford before a game there several years ago and yep, he's a good guy.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2023 6:13 amTop lad is Matty and his brother for that matter.

Re: Matt Lowton
He was am immense buy and a great player for our club. We dont however appreciate that when players get over 32/33 they just seem to lose that sharpness, concentration, and suddenly there are better options in the squad, and Jay is a very similar example. Its a short career but credit to players like Ashley Young that can still play effectively in the PL at what, 39 years of age?
