Time to get back to basics for VK. Zaroury to start, 100%. We need players with Championship experience and / or fighting qualities in midfield. Very few, if anyone, has nailed down a starting shirt so far this season so plenty of options.

Trafford
Roberts AAD Beyer Taylor
Cullen Brownhill
JBG (if fit) Berge Zaroury
Foster

No not JBG-we have too many talented wide men to start in front of him, ie Koleosho, Zarouury, Benson, Redmond,Odobert, Ramsey. We have seen JBG's best days. For me file under Jay Rod

JBG offers a lot more than Jay IMO - certainly in a game like tomorrow night. Jay is a spent force unfortunately and shouldn't even be coming off the bench. He offers nothing to proceedings anymore. JBG, on the other hand, is an intelligent footballer who can pick a pass. He works hard as well. We need to match their work rate and be a bit more pragmatic; I think JBG can help with this.

Trafford
Roberts Al-Dakhil Beyer Taylor
Brownhill Cullen
Amdouni Berge Zaroury
Foster

Berge over Ramsey for his height.
Zaroury over Koleosho for his end product.

Time to pick a team for the game in question now and not for the future

Trafford not ready and not as good as Muric
Ramsey not fit or strong enough to start yet
Toss up between O’Shea & ADD as the latter is still to rash in the tackle
It’s one of Cullen or Brownhill imo, both denies an extra forward player - an hour for 1 and 30 minutes plus the extra 20mins added time for the other

Koleosho over Odebert the latter on late on both on the left

Both Benson & Zaroury as impact subs

Jay Rod & Cork as late subs for different reasons if required

JBG I’m unsure as a starter or a sub

Team
Muric - has to start

Roberts - over Vitinho
ADD - or O’Shea
Beyer - has to start
Taylor - over Del Boy

Cullen or Brownhill
Berge - has to start

Larsen - has to start
Amdouni - has to start
Koleosho - over Odebert

Foster - has to start

Imo

Trafford
Roberts Al Dakhil Beyer Taylor
Cullen Brownhill
Larsen Ramsey Zaroury
Foster

Subs
Muric
Benny (if fit), if not JBG
Amdouni - bring on early second half
Koleosho - bring on second half
O'Shea
Vitinho
Tresor
Berge
Odobert

--------------------Trafford
Roberts---O'Shea---------Beyer-------Taylor
----------------Cullen--Cork
---------------------Berge
Larsen-------------Foster------------Zaroury

This might look conservative, but I would rather start the game with a solid base and keep it tight. O'Shea ahead of AAD tonight purely as I think he is probably stronger in the air and will be very useful on the set pieces. Cork picked purely for this game for his know how, organisation and usefulness defensively.

We can win this game in the last 30 by bringing on Koleosho, Odobert and Amdouni.

I don’t necessarily agree with your team but the suggestion that we should start more conservatively and be more defensively solid and then bring on the younger faster attacking players late on, to win a game that we’ve stayed in, is a valid one.
I thought in both the Villa and Spurs games we lined up with a stronger team and formation at the start of the second half than the start of the game but the games were effectively over by then

Come around to this idea, particularly Cork starting. Need someone to keep it ticking, manage the game and organise others. Koleosho still only 18, started every game but needs to be managed and maybe would be a really good option to bring off the bench.

Never sure if it's the team we'd pick or the team we think Kompany will pick.

Impossible to know if he'll keep it very similar or make big changes. We're playing against pretty much a Championship side tonight so Brownhill, Cullen and Berge should be absolutely enough and I'll be disappointed if we don't dominate the midfield for the first time this season.

We should have plenty to get the victory.

But that being said, we struggled against Luton and teams like them last season. And there's an argument to say we aren't as strong (yet) as we were the last time we played them.

Hope you are right Pickles. Sadly that midfield three picks itself because of lack of options. If we start that three and its tight I would expect Cork to come on later

Oh absolutely, I wish we'd have brought in the sort of physically in the middle everyone knows we need. But Luton haven't changed much if at all from last season and although no game is must win at this point of the season, it's easily our most winnable and win it we should. Although wouldn't be surprising if it's close.

I'd be amazed if AAD isn't playing to counter Ogbene's pace

It would be handy to start with 16 and take one off each time, until you have 11 at the end!
