I went to this game ..took my dad and we were unfortunately seated behind the goal very close to the City fans who pelted us with coins and generally abused us for much of the game. There were a lot of Clarets there with many of them on a big bank of temporary seating to our left. Andy Cooke's goal was at our end right in front of us and very disappointing to concede the equaliser. I remember Vindheim from that day too...looked quite elegant but joins the ranks of our more mysterious overseas signings along with the likes of Remco, Nimani, Berisha etc

Went with my brother and a mate’s girlfriend who was a City fan (had a spare ticket) It was scary leaving the ground, kept in for ages, I think there was a tannoy announcement saying you should stay in the ground for your own safety. Eventually we left the ground to see the police keeping the locals at bay whilst walking over the broken glass. It had just kicked off by the coaches, I think both me and my brother were holding hands with my mate’s girlfriend as we walked back to the car. Having read the match report I do now remember how hard done by we were, it was before the days of social media etc and didn’t know who Vindheim was.

Forgot we had a goal disallowed. Don’t remember being kept back after the game it was straight out and a quiet walk through Moss Side back to Chorlton Street!

We were at the back of the North Stand so took a while to get out, sure we were kept back, possibly for GMP to restore order outside!! Rough round there!

I think this was the game when it seriously kicked off outside - I had my nephew with me who was just 13 at the time and my next door neighbour who was disabled and it was horrendous.

I was in the temporary stand, on the back row. I had a better view of Old Trafford than Maine Rd.

We were in the Temp stand that day too, there had been quite a bit of trouble from around 11am that day in the centre and near the end of the game City came round and tried to force their way into our stand. Quite a few clashes after the match walking back to the centre.

The disallowed goal was the best I ever saw Cooke score.

Remember this day well. Stayed in Manchester at a friend's place near the University as we went to see Depeche Mode on the Friday. The Saturday was a few calm beers in town then the chaos of Maine Road. In the away end but close to their fans, who rather goaded us for 90mins rather than watch the game. Spend half the match avoiding flying coins. Then, after the match, police horses racing all over the place then safely on to an Accy Clarets coach to get back home. Memories.

I remember this game. Took my eldest son to the match who was 15 at the time. We parked on Claremont school car park and it was a hairy 5 minute walk back to the car. Glad to get get off Claremont Road and onto the dual carriageway that day. Good memories though.

I could only get a ticket from a City mate in their end close to the Burnley fans. It was feral in there, no one watching the game, coins flying everywhere. Luckily I’d walked towards the exit when they equalised, I would probably been outed as an away fan and doubt I’d have made it out in one piece. Outside was carnage with City fans a avoiding charging Police Horses to get to the Burnley fans. I vowed that day to never go into the opponents end for a Burnley game again. Never have.

Interesting in how both clubs have progressed since that game. I wonder which club has developed the most?
