Typo on my phone. It might as well as been 385 in the end, abysmal effort.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 3:43 pmEngland 11/4

The odds don’t suggest we are going well either CT.
But come on CT we are only chasing 285

very very surprised we didn't bat first on that pitch after winning the last game batting first.

The usual crap. Surely that's the last ever 50 over game for Bairstow. I think he thinks he is playing in a 20 overs innings.

From being a brilliant side, why has the form of the entire team completely fallen off a cliff?

Injuries, lack of prep, new captain, new coach, players just out of nick which leads to them not knowing their best team etc
Combination of a lot of things.

Re: Cricket World Cup
Far too many things wrong with this squad for it to work.
The continuation of picking players who bat a little and bowl a little bit without being decent at either.
The fascination of picking Willey in the hope he swings the ball for about 3 deliveries never makes sense to me, Ali & Livingstone both fit the above and that is being kind in this format. Having Woakes as a front line bowler in non English conditions is weird. Root badly out of form and really disappointed in his comments blaming T20 and towing the ECB's line regarding the 100. Nobody else plays the 100 anywhere because it is pointless.

Not many would have predicted pre tournament that the World Cup holders would be propping up the table alongside The Netherlands.

England have been disgraceful once again but it's shocking to me a third umpire can look at those pictures and make a definitive judgement on whether it was caught

The on field umpire didn't give out and, as you say, the third umpire couldn't be 100% sure that it was caught so how can he give it?daveisaclaret wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 11:42 amEngland have been disgraceful once again but it's shocking to me a third umpire can look at those pictures and make a definitive judgement on whether it was caught

Re: Cricket World Cup
well good news is the crisp 16.4 cup is popular.
Before the money franchise 100, England where the best team in the world, now we don't play any domestic 50 over cricket (would rather watch the young players for Lancs) we are shocking

Re: Cricket World Cup
The ECB relegating our 50 over competition to a second team knockabout can't exactly be helpful.

Don’t worry there’ll still be offered some nice fat central contracts even though they performed like drains. The match on Sunday could be even more embarrassing (if that is possible).

Only the top 9 teams qualify for the Champions Trophy. England currently bottom of the table in 10th.

Trott steers Afghanistan to back to back World Cup victories for the first time putting them on 6 points and 5th place in the table. If they can overcome The Netherlands in their next game the remaining fixtures against Australia, New Zealand and South Africa could be interesting. Not that long ago they were in the 5th tier of World Cup cricket.

Glenn Maxwell has other ideas. Dragged the Aussies back into the game with a knock of 142 not out of 99 so far. They need 60 to win off 10 with 3 wickets in hand.
