Thought he did very well in his little stint with us and got us playing some good stuff.

Did Little play in his team its a long time ago now can’t remember.

Edit: In fact I think he signed little from glentoran for 60-80k?

I think it was Adrian Heath who signed Glen from Glentoran for a bargain £100k.

Pound for pound best buy ever in the modern era that.

Whoever scouted Glen needs to come back.

I was really disappointed when he left thought he should have stuck it out instead of going to become an assistant again.

Yes, the grass was apparently greener, but then he admitted to quickly regretting his move.

Strange bloke apparently and fell out with quite a number of players. Everything collapsed once John Ward left.

Just fell out with a lot of people. Teasdale once said that when he walked out he didn’t leave any friends behind.

Great player for us with a fantastic football brain.

Not sure any player has come close to him in that regard since?

Is this a wind up? You obviously haven’t seen many players play for us then if you think he was the best player.

Had a chat with him once when he was coaching in Austin and he said his biggest regret in football was leaving Burnley to go back to Everton with Howard Kendall.

The first “named” player I saw play for us
Was going really well when he was named as player-manager but it went downhill when Ward left for Bristol City though

Was a fantastic player for us at the level we were at the time and really enjoyed watching him play for us. But we probably have a team worth of players (if not more) who are equally if not better than he was. Not knocking the sentiment, just goes to show how far we’ve come. Certainly wouldn’t have dared dream about it at the time.

Indeed I think for wing play he was tying people in knots. I also agree about the level we were at.

Defour is the obvious one from the prem era for me.

A good topic for discussion, in the modern era you quite rightly say Glen Little, I would also add Michael Duff to the list as well.

Glens best season for us was our first season back in the championship where we nearly made the play offs. He was winning matches alone. There were England call up rumours (nonsense probably) and a large bid from Man City.

I honestly think if he had gone to the prem at that point in his career he would have been brilliant and maybe got that England call up. He stayed with us and got a few injuries and by the time he made it to the prem he was way past his best

One of my first away days was at Chester in the Cup, with my Dad. Inchy scored an absolute worldie. Loved him as a player, I was only a youngster back then.
I think Robbie Blake was a better player though. Absolute class.

Think you mean second season back 2001/02. Certainly in the first half of that season he was virtually unplayable. Always wonder how the season would have played out if he’d scored that penalty at City though.

A strange game the one at City where he missed the penalty. Definitely a turning point that season looking back.

Was absolutely brilliant to watch on his day. One game that always comes to mind from that season is Bradford away early on. Second half attacking the Burnley end they just couldn't live with him.

I remember walking away from the ground and I heard a Bradford fan say “they wouldn’t have beat us if they didn’t have Glen Little”

My dad turned round and said “yes, but we do” 😂

Also remember a very good performance vs Birmingham

It was either at Bradford or Birmingham where he had a long shot from the angle of the box and it went in the net, hit the frame holding the net up, and then flew back out the net. The ref didn’t give it

Blatherwick pulled his socks up and had an acceptable lower league career after Stan (justifiably) got rid of him.

He was the only one of the infamous four who did.

Class act as a player.

Paul Weller said on a podcast that he learnt so much from him.

As mentioned above, he regretted leaving us to go back to Everton.
