Quite an achievement
To spend 100million and end up with a worse squad than last season.

It's called stepping up against the best players in the world I guess

How do you know that
This squad might get 110pts in the championship
Last year's squad might have 0pts in Premier lesgue
Your argument is stupid at best

I wouldn't say we have a worse squad but I also think there were better ways to spread our budget. We have 1 decent striker but 7+ wingers, a lot of them look similar and lack experience.

We could have spent 0 and had no players...
£100m ain't going far when you've got to buy an entire squad so the number is irrelevant

Re: Quite an achievement
It seems as though prioritising “future resale value” has led to a squad imbalance with plenty of wingers and attacking players but no left back.

Re: Quite an achievement
Put last seasons loans into this team think we would be doing a lot better.
We’ve tried to be too clever for our own good with the buys but all is not lost yet.

Re: Quite an achievement
The investment looks good for resale value, as Koleosho is already worth way more, Odobert looks class etc. however, it is beyond me why we didn’t invest in a left back. Absolutely ridiculous shoe horning Taylor into a role that doesn’t suit him but having 5 wingers sat on the bench. Right back and centre back also look noticeably weaker than the rest of the pitch.

And we've needed a strong, quick, tall, nasty Premier League quality central midfielder for over a decade.Iloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Sat Oct 07, 2023 5:10 pmThe investment looks good for resale value, as Koleosho is already worth way more, Odobert looks class etc. however, it is beyond me why we didn’t invest in a left back. The are some immense bedwetters surfacing today. It does make me laugh though because a few wins in the next couple of games after the IB and we wont hear from them for a few weeks.

I bet you weren’t thinking that after 35 minutes against a team that cost over 1 billion

Re: Quite an achievement
Dara O Shea isn't a Premier League defender and his distribution is poor. Harwood Bellis would have offered more I'm covinced
Ramsey and Brownhill's first touch just isn't premier league level and our midfield is good enough creativity wise to cope with how we play against the better teams
We don't move off the ball nobody wants to stretch the pitch or run in behind and we are far to slow to move it threw the thirds.
Traffords distribution is poor

I thought Taylor didn’t do too bad today ,it’s the chump at the back that’s creating all the problems.Iloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Sat Oct 07, 2023 5:10 pmThe investment looks good for resale value, as Koleosho is already worth way more, Odobert looks class etc. however, it is beyond me why we didn’t invest in a left back. I thought that when we were buying all this future talent. I think VK is hoping they will learn enough quickly, and improve enough for when we play the teams in and around us. Up to now we have 4 points (should have been 6) from two away games so if we keep that up and keep improving we will be ok.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 07, 2023 5:06 pmIt seems as though prioritising “future resale value” has led to a squad imbalance with plenty of wingers and attacking players but no left back.

Re: Quite an achievement
That 5 min period just before half time is killing us against the top teams at the moment and once we get that sorted out we'll be better for it.Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Sat Oct 07, 2023 5:27 pmI bet you weren’t thinking that after 35 minutes against a team that cost over 1 billion
I don't know what the explanation for Al D's absence in the second half is but we looked a different team in the second half. How can that happen when we showed so much promise before the interval?
Everything went to pot and we were blown away with no fight except when Chelsea took their foot off the gas.
Kompany threw a few new players in today and I'm sure he did it with a purpose because no way would be have done that against any team in the group that will be near the bottom this season.
I'm confident it's part of a plan and while these defeats are difficult to take I'm of the opinion it's going to pay dividends in the second half of the season. That is my belief but it certainly isn't going to be easy by any stretch of the imagination

We can't possibly know after this amount of time what money has or hasn't been wasted in the summer.

Interesting views on the loanees. Could we really have afforded THB, IM and NT?
And did any of the 3 really push for a return in any case?

Re: Quite an achievement
I notice the Charlie Taylor groupies have had their alarms on again.
He has been a good solid player for us..and he is still a decent player..............however.
He simply isn't what is needed at this level anymore. He's a solid pro but is limited.
I'd say to his groupies to make the most of seeing him until January because surely we won't fail to sign an upgrade again.
