I like it
English fans generally seem to envy the atmospheres in stadiums across Europe and South America where drums are permanent fixtures, yet when clubs try drums over in England it is seen as tinpot and embarrassing. Doesn't make sense to me!

It makes perfect sense. It's tinpot and embarrassing to have some sweaty fat git with greasy hair and rotten teeth constantly pounding a drumclaretrobo1 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 11:52 amI like it

I can't view the link without jumping through a few hoops. Please tell me, this isn't for the Turf is it?

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
It would be bad if we did resort to having to get drummers in, but the atmosphere at games has been horrendous for most of the season.
A couple of the games about 25% of the crowd seemed to disappear before the 75th minute.

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
They have one on Deepdale and it sounds shocking - any atmosphere that does build up is enveloped by a droning, monotonous drum noise. Not a good idea.
Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
Think it’s a good idea. Atmosphere completely dead and songs constantly at 1.5x speed. Blackpool’s home atmosphere is class with the drum.

Last season, the moron at Bournemouth thumped it constantly throughout the game. Their fans didn't sing or chant in time with it. All it was was a bloody awful noise!

As someone who watches our games on TV I have been very disappointed with the Burnley home support this season. If you don't want a drum then my advice is to pull your finger out, up your game and make some bloody noise.

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
An awful idea. The drummers sound awful on the televised SPL (eg Celtic and Rangers) matches. Definitely tinpot in EFL Grounds. Will Alan Pace be happy if the drummers were located close to the Directors’ Box? The idea was dismissed by fans when Darren Bentley consulted a few years ago.

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
Because they do it better than we do it. It's a cultural thing. Always staggers me no matter how many times I experience it, just now louder and more consistent support is around Europe. At the Turf we're lucky to get a couple of No Nay Nevers and the odd Oh Bur Na Lee.claretrobo1 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 11:52 amI like it

Heaven help us - please, please, please no drums.
I take it they didn’t get much support when they tried bringing in dancers to help celebrate goals.

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
Burnley fans already frequently express their views on this matter, no need for a survey. It is unanimous as far as I can tell ‘that they would much prefer to bang a woman than a drum’.

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
Did the ‘Fans Advisory Board’ propose this idea? If not, why have they not been consulted and then been afforded the opportunity to do a survey on the desire for this? Isn’t that the point of them?

They'd find the fans around them develop interesting ideas for where to stick their drum sticks
Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
As long as the Drummer is located in the centre area of the Directors Box I’ve no issue.

Think of a plastic club in the Premier League - Brighton - and then ask who our Director of Fan Experience supports.

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
Say no more Tony!
Surely rather than advertising for 'optimistic drummers' (whatever that is!) then a poll asking if the fans want a drummer is the better step? Unless it's already been discussed at the fan board?

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
Has this been consulted at all? I’d be more than a little surprised if a majority were in favour. It would surely have to have the green light from the ‘Cricketfield Leader’
It smacks of small club syndrome having / needing a drummer or bloody trumpet player to try and stir up any sort of an atmosphere. There must be a better way, surely!?
If we do go down this route, I’m only on board if everyone gets a clap stick, foam hand and Vincent Kompany face mask.

Re: Drummers required...DRUMMERS
If the club doesn't listen to fans before installing a drummer and it goes ahead then we will have to make our feelings known when it starts to be banged by trying to drown it out by booing or chanting that the drum can be placed up someone's backside etc.
