I had a look but no chance with thousands of people in front of me
Even the early access was a disappointment, unable to purchase more than one of the cheaper ones but up to 4 of the expensive ones
I saw him at Knebworth last year, brilliant performance so I’m fine with not seeing him next year

Re: Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe Tour
When I think Liam Gallagher, I can't help thinking of when someone had a dig at him on twitter with something along the lines of 'Karaoke man, singing your brother's songs'.
I confess to having a bit of a chortle at the savagery.

I never join the inevitable clamour for tickets for events like this. Tickets will become available nearer the time of the gig, without a doubt. Check fb fan sites and twickets.

There’s plenty of other Oasis tribute acts on up and down the country so don’t worry if you missed out on these tickets

It's like the Edinburgh fringe on here today isn't it?
Re: Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe Tour
At least he's performing as LG and not Oasis. One of my biggest gripes is bands continuing to trade on the name when massive changes are made to the line up. For example Big Country without Stuart Adamson, New Order without Hook etc. The biggest culprits by far though are UB40 without Ali Campbell and Astro and get this, although a slight name change, The South. Basically Beautiful South without the main vocalists, so just a backing band. Re: Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe Tour
I am seeing Big Country next month, obviously without the late Stuart Adamson but still have Bruce Watson and Mark Brzezicki from the original line up. Won't be the same but I am still expecting a great gig. I was a big fan of Marillion. When Fish departed in 1988, I saw both Fish as a solo artist and Marillion with Hogarth as the lead. I stopped listening to both a couple of years after as neither were the same as the original band - Fish didnt have the musicicanship of Rothery, Kelly, Trewavas and Moseley and after Seasons End i couldn't like the stuff they put out with H.groove wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 12:34 pmAt least he's performing as LG and not Oasis. As for Liam Gallagher, I saw him when he was lead singer in his brother's band (I think it was the last gig at Wembley before the big fall out and the end of the band, for now) supported by Kasabian. Kasabian were by far the best band that evening and the subsequent times i have seen them they were one of the very best. On a related note, i am not sure i would want to see them without Tom as the frontman as I don't think Serge can carry the sound like Tom did.

Re: Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe Tour
AC/DC have to be the superstars at this? Forgetting Bon Scott (for obvious reasons) and I know Malcolm Young was well into his dementia by then but didn't their last tour consist of Angus Young and Cliff Roberts from the original lineup?

My mates wife was FIRST in the queue for Manchester, didn’t get them though as I was 500th for Dublin so told her to leave it as Dublin was the preferred choice.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 11:56 amI had a look but no chance with thousands of people in front of me

Noel produced the raw materials, but Liam turned them into the iconic sounds that they are.

Well no, it was Oasis you saw. Wonder what it said on the ticket?

Thought about it but I'm old enough to have seen them do it the first time round in sensibly sized venues (also Glastonbury and Knebworth thinking about it) - and then I saw the ticket prices. I've gone in for the Euro 2024 ballot instead.

Got two for Manchester. Never really been bothered for seeing Liam on his own but went a couple of years ago and I thought he was brilliant.

One of the few good examples of replacing a front man and maintaining a great sound was Queen + Adam Lambert.

Pink Floyd without Roger Waters was still an impressive show back in the day.
I actually saw them at Maine Road which is in keeping with this thread .

Re: Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe Tour
Or suggesting that replacing one of the greatest ever frontmen with one of the most unique voices, was maintained somehow with anyone else.
Fwiw, I saw Luke Spiller front Queen at the Taylor Hawkins tribute which was pretty awesome. Still not a patch on Freddie.

Re: Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe Tour
I saw Oasis at Preston before they took off. I didn't go to see them specifically. They were part of the lineup. For me, Definitely Maybe is as good as it gets. The rest of their output is pedestrian at best. Just my POV though. Don't forget that music taste is subjective.
Re: Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe Tour
Don't care. I like both brothers. When I feel down, I listen to Liam's interviews. The man is damn funny.
They made some damn good music and they love Manchester. The football teams apart Manchester means a lot to me.

Saw a band last year that didn't have any of the original members in it, think it was The Quireboys.

Re: Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe Tour
Plenty of bands go through line up changes. Oasis are a prime example of that. Depeche Mode, the Cure, Genesis the list goes on. Are you saying there is no worth to them once a change happens?groove wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 12:34 pmAt least he's performing as LG and not Oasis. all the best pink floyd songs were written by waters even though he's a complete knob.
i saw oasis at reading and liam spent most of the time dodging bottles.
and his voice has gone.

Re: Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe Tour
Interesting point. It appears some bands can do it and some can't. I think some band members are so intrinsic to the sound and image of a band, it doesn't seem like the same band without them. The bands you used as an example still kept the more prominent members. DM without Gahan wouldn't be DM. Oasis without both of the Gallaghers wouldn't be Oasis. The Cure without RS wouldn't be The Cure. I know its not black and white or set in stone. It's just how I see it.

Re: Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe Tour
Oasis, in my humble opinion are massively overrated . If they were bracketed like blur , the verve , kasabian , etc that would be about right. But for some reason people exalt them. And their really not that good are original

All about opinions, they were huge at their peak.
I was a big fan, but the overplaying of their songs on the radio put me off by the end. Apparently there will always be one Oasis record being played on some radio station in the world, every second of the day.
I like watching YouTube vids of early footage of their stuff though.

Re: Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe Tour
Thing is with Oasis , they weren’t clever art school types or
deep songwriters or exceptional musicians , they were white working class lads with sing along tunes and a charismatic bad boy lead singer, throw in a bit of old skool rock n roll behaviour etc etc . 2 superb albums and some average fodder really , though a great live act . Saw them at Finsbury Park about 2002 boiling hot day no crash barriers etc completely mental but unforgettable.

Re: Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe Tour
I agree. Noel (strum some easy chords and come up with a solo around the 12th and 15th fret for every song) has made a living off being a very limited guitarist. Fair play to them though, their tunes were catchy at the time and now appeal to the 'football fan' demographic
Re: Liam Gallagher Definitely Maybe Tour
Oasis very overrated. Loved them when they came out, first two albums were great at that time. Then it all got a bit dull, at times overblown, at times overly retro. Perhaps if Noel had saved his early excellent B sides for a third album it could have saved them rather than the overblown tunes of their third album.
Not even a great live band. Saw them twice in 95 amd 96 and was a great atmosphere by the fact the crowd knew the anthemic songs. Apart from that they had a lead singer who strained his neck to sing at the mic and shook tambourines a few times and a band that stood still playing with zero charisma.
