Lovely play gets us the corner but we don't scare anyone from there.

Re: Brentford v Burnley match thread.
So is Trafford the worst goal keeper or keeping us in it?

Don't think so.
The majority of the saves Trafford has made were pretty routine.

Re: Brentford v Burnley match thread.
Simple things this, not much to do with formation. Second balls, not sharp enough. Passing, too slow. Decision making, awful. They're still dreaming they have a second longer than they actually have. And in the absence of physicality, we should be at least sharper and quicker.
Re: Brentford v Burnley match thread.
But I thought once we started playing teams outside the top six and top ten etc, we'd start winning some games?

To be fair if you come up and spend the way we did, you expect us to be at least competitive. This season we have only really competed on two of our Prem games so far. Luton and Forest. Been ripped apart in the others.

Berge is so so lazy . Cullen needs help with either Cork or Brownhill ( or both ) along side him .

I like to think Russell Ball is sat in the directors box shaking his head staring at our away fans, “this wouldn’t be happening if you had a drum”.

Beautiful play nvolving Tresor and Amdouni shot. The ball to tresor was delightful but I dfidn't see who by. Corner leads to us having to defend again.

The sooner this game is over, the sooner the players can get back to giving sly little digs about the support in their midweek interviews.

Re: Brentford v Burnley match thread.
Can only think those who can't remember a worse performance missed the 09/10 season and Dyche's last season.
I think the vast majority of players in the team are comfortably good enough for this league (unsure on O'Shea and too early to say on Odobert/Tresor) and are playing way, way below their standard.

Amazingly we can win this
Re: Brentford v Burnley match thread.
Trafford has made good saves to keep the score down, but was awful on the goal.
Can we afford a young and inconsistent keeper? My judgment is no. Others are free to make up their own minds of course

Glad for the HT whistle.
We are desperate for some muscle in the niddle, right down the spine. Nice footballers but need a general on the pitch.

If we can get half time at 1-0, I’m backing us to win.
And we just have. We’ll win this.
Why? Dunno - watch though.

Poor first half. The positive being that we are only one down.

Re: Brentford v Burnley match thread.
Trafford a few heebie jeebies but is keeping us in the game.
The stats are scary. Don’t know which is worse. Berge’s 8 passes. Their 12 shots within our 18 yard box. Mbuemu’s dribbles. Our heatmap. Dreadful, dreadful stats.
Need Cork on, beyond badly. Brownhill too. Berge off, Odobert off (for now). Tresor and Ambouni flanking Foster with those three midfielders behind. Kompany looking not good enough but is young, raw, but clever, and will learn fast. He’s now realising that 11 years at the top of this league as a player means naff all.
Amazingly, we remain in the game.

Re: Brentford v Burnley match thread.
They're good saves but they're saves that every goalkeeper signed to a Premier League team should make every time.

Re: Brentford v Burnley match thread.
We are very lucky to only be 1 down here. Can we now take advantage of their poor finishingto get back into this second half?
We have to learn to keep the ball, something we were so bloody good at last season. Now we are lucky if we can put 3-4 passes together.

Right Vincent let's see what you're made of . Hopefully a team with a bit of fight might turn up in the second half .

Delighted at 0-1. Thr boys are about to get a good old fashioned rollicking here I'd imagine. Let's hope it does the trick. Brentford aren't that great, we can still get a result here

Next goal key. If we somehow get it, it's very possible. If we don't it could get very uglyjedi_master wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 3:51 pmIf we can get half time at 1-0, I’m backing us to win.

We have been poor in comparison to the games at Luton or Forest. Kompany looking way too naive in his selections in my opinion.

Re: Brentford v Burnley match thread.
But they aren't showing it. Too many of the players out there today have been our weakest so far and it's showing. This is pretty much 09/10 re run without the good start at home whilst the promoted side rode the euphoriadaveisaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 3:48 pmCan only think those who can't remember a worse performance missed the 09/10 season and Dyche's last season.

Completely crap, our transfers have been horrendous.
Re: Brentford v Burnley match thread.
He’s a good shot stopper. It’s the rest of his game where he is weak. That punch out was pathetic. The reaction save for the deflected shot was very good.
Give me a nice rounded steady goal keeper any day of the week, instead of a lower league shot stopper.

I agree, but Muric hardly faced a shot last year. No way is he making those saves.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 3:46 pmDon't think so.

Re: Brentford v Burnley match thread.
We've no battlers in this team, everyone of them is powder puff soft.
Re: Brentford v Burnley match thread.
I don’t understand why we’ve taken our:
Possession based game
Short passes only
High defensive line
Get wingers on the ball as much as possible
Nominal Full backs moving into midfield in possession
Approach that had us touted as one of the best championship sides ever and replaced it with whatever the hell this is.
