Accrington Stanley
Not sure if he had his account hacked or he just had a few too many beers at their game - but Andy Holt took to Twitter last night to engage with their fans following a fall out over their manager and assistant doing a radio interview complaining about not being offered new contracts.
Let’s hope Alan never does anything like that.

Re: Accrington Stanley
There was something mentioned on Radio Lancs yesterday regarding certain sections of their support who are wanting a change of manager.
Not sure of all the details, but maybe getting rid of John Coleman is something they should be very wary about bringing about, I'd say.
Careful what you wish for.

Re: Accrington Stanley
I saw this last night.
Definitely a rift going on. Andy Holt not happy with the assistant manager going on radio lancs to put pressure on for new contracts.
Looks like it worked and the fans have give him a bit of stick.
He's put the club up for sale. Says he's not putting his money in the club to take crap off fans and get his weekend ruined.
Coley overspent his budget by 600k due to injuries. He had 45 players on the books and still got relegated.

He’s got previous for mouthing off on his Twitter account. I can’t imagine it’s in any way helpful.

I always thought he came across as a bit of a tosser on Twitter but I think he has a point re the interview given by the assistant a couple of weeks ago.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 10:36 amHe’s got previous for mouthing off on his Twitter account. I can’t imagine it’s in any way helpful.
Coleman and Bell got them relegated and crying because they didn’t immediately get offered a new contract.

Re: Accrington Stanley
Fair enough if he’s annoyed, but just sort it behind the scenes - if they’re not cooperating, he’s the one who can swing the axe. Airing your dirty laundry on Twitter just makes things worse.StayingDown4Ever wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 10:52 amI always thought he came across as a bit of a tosser on Twitter but I think he has a point re the interview given by the assistant a couple of weeks ago.

Is this the gentleman who owns 'Wham Plastics Ltd"? I wonder what he's like to work for?Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 10:36 amHe’s got previous for mouthing off on his Twitter account. I can’t imagine it’s in any way helpful.
That said, neither team manager or owner should be airing their frustrations or grievances in public. It's discussion that should remain strictly behind Boardroom closed doors.

I’ve met and talked to Andy Holt more than a few times and he’s always come across as a genuine, good guy.
I also know a lot of people who know him really well and they would concur.

Re: Accrington Stanley
Hasn't Andy Holt said something along the lines of Coleman and Bell did enough to be sacked after last season but they have credit in the bank? He has a very open and honest style about him which I like. Maybe a bit too open for some peoples tastes but it looks as though Coleman and Bell need to tread carefully.
He has put a lot of his own money in there and redeveloped the place way beyond they would otherwise have been able to do. Accy fans really do need to be careful what they wish for.

Went to Accy for the Lancs Senior Cup game in April 2022 and was amazed at the changes to the ground. They’ve added the new dressing room block too since then. You’re right, they do need to be careful what they wish for.Somethingfishy wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 4:45 pmHasn't Andy Holt said something along the lines of Coleman and Bell did enough to be sacked after last season but they have credit in the bank? Re: Accrington Stanley
I’m sure he is, but airing all this on Twitter is unprofessional to say the least. Just sort it out behind closed doors.
While what he’s achieved for the club cannot be questioned, I’m also of the feeling managers can be at a club for too long.

Re: Accrington Stanley
I think it is perfectly reasonable for a Chairman who has opened the club to the community, and is reaping the rewards with a new generation of fans (know a few lads 20-30’s who’ve changed their allegiance to Accy from Rovers) and I regularly see primary school kids wearing their FREE shirts with pride…Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 5:19 pmI’m sure he is, but airing all this on Twitter is unprofessional to say the least. It beats banging a drum a games…
How often have we searched these boards looking for answers in the past? He just tells them.
I was surprised Coleman was given until the end of last season, never mind this; he looked out of his depth at times last season.

Re: Accrington Stanley
Can only imagine the reaction on here if Pace aired the club’s dirty laundry like that on social media. I’d understand more at a fans forum or similar if really necessary, but certainly not on Twitter.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 7:19 pmI think it is perfectly reasonable for a Chairman who has opened the club to the community, and is reaping the rewards with a new generation of fans (know a few lads 20-30’s who’ve changed their allegiance to Accy from Rovers) and I regularly see primary school kids wearing their FREE shirts with pride…

Just listened to Holts interview and it sounded pretty reasonable.
Didn’t offer new contracts because he was concerned if they had a double relegation that the club would be stuck with long term contracts which they couldn’t afford. Said that once the club had stabilised in League 2 then discussions around contracts would resume.
Re: Accrington Stanley
21 good seasons followed by 1 bad? While missing out on transfer targets because Conference clubs are paying higher wages? You'd be a harsh taskmaster.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 7:19 pmI think it is perfectly reasonable for a Chairman who has opened the club to the community, and is reaping the rewards with a new generation of fans (know a few lads 20-30’s who’ve changed their allegiance to Accy from Rovers) and I regularly see primary school kids wearing their FREE shirts with pride…

Re: Accrington Stanley
I've been to a couple of their games in the last few seasons when at a loose end. Stood in the home end behind the goal. It's beyond annoying. It is absolutely incessant and whoever bangs it tends to just bang the same beat. It's almost trance like. They just sing their couple of songs to the same beat.clarets1978 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 1:53 pmYou know they have a drum at accrington and have had one for quite a while
