My son started that and it went round very very quickly, Hopefully the message was heard loud and clear.

Bournemouth wouldn't want to be playing anybody else at home next weekend

I'm still trying to get my head around how bad it was. I didn't think Brentford were that good either, we just made it easy for them.

I think you wrote that alarm bells were ringing after the Chelsea home defeat. Are the sirens going off after yesterday's performance? Very worrying.

Re: REPORT: Bad day at Brentford without a drumroll
Including that 2nd half v Chelsea that it 135+ minutes of absolute dross. 135+ minutes of being naïve, slow and ineffectual with barely a hint of why we belong in the Premier League. And, sadly, it is difficult to see how Vincent is going to turn it around, he just doesn't seem to have any plan B in his locker, just like SD before him.
Re: REPORT: Bad day at Brentford without a drumroll
Whenever we had a bad run of performances and results under Dyche, usually culminating in a horror show like yesterday, he somehow always seemed to find a way to galvanise the group and get something from the next one just when it looked lost.
Bournemouth on Saturday is massive for me.

A dithering defence and a non-existent midfield when out of possession. They are fast-becoming completely bereft of confidence.
Saturday will be a real yardstick. Last season we played very well and the 4-2 score line certainly did not flatter us, Benson and Zaroury were excellent and scored two goals each. Neither prominent this season although I accept that we have to take availability into account.

Re: REPORT: Bad day at Brentford without a drumroll
It was a performance bordering on unacceptable to me. Far too passive, no energy or determination. We have to be at the top of our games to win games at this level. that was nowhere near it.

Re: REPORT: Bad day at Brentford without a drumroll
Good article.
The saving grace for me is that we look like doing the hard bit - scoring in the Premier League most games. Many teams put in shocking displays and don’t have a sniff. We had when Tresor set up Amdouni leading to the smart save, the Tresor step-over which will nearly 2 on 1 as a result, the Koleosho miss etc. Every game we have some of these, even City were put under pressure at times.
We just have some strange selections coupled with defenders who can look like a rabbit in the headlights. Sort that and we’ll be ok.

Hardly a saving grace when we’d have to score at least 3 every game to maybe get something out of it.
Re: REPORT: Bad day at Brentford without a drumroll
We need to get a settled side, a settled formation and decide what we are, are we now a long ball side?
We have like a five minute spell where we look a really good dominant side, high pressed and causing all kind of problems.
Then we revert to type and turn into god knows what, the pressing is gone and we sit deep and still look wide open. Then our build up is slowly passing around the defence then laying it off for Trafford to hoof it long.
Where’s the identity gone? I thought at least if we went down this season we’d go down with a style of play, brave on the ball regardless, willing to press no matter what.
It’s all completely gone out of the window, I think VK has panicked and listened to those doubters pre season who said we’d have to change style. Identity crisis
Let’s just go back to last seasons style and formation, if we go down so be it

Re: REPORT: Bad day at Brentford without a drumroll
Bournemouth Saturday could be the final nail, if VK persists in doing what he's done all season then I honestly don't know where we go from there.
Fingers crossed there's been some home truths in training this week and he's gone back to his regulars from last season begging for there help and we turn in a performance, let's not forget our team last season tore Bournemouth apart away last season

Tony - Are you sure it wasn't O'Shea who cleared that shot off the line and not Taylor?

Re: REPORT: Bad day at Brentford without a drumroll
Thought one poster summed it perfectly saying we play ‘suicidal football’. The same tactics and weak team selection by Kompany will see us soundly beaten at Bournemouth.

Remember thinking something along those lines when we got Lincoln at home in the FA Cup but I totally agree with your premise. Just become a 'soft touch' this season and teams are relishing playing against us.

Re: REPORT: Bad day at Brentford without a drumroll
A team bereft of confidence, and lacking the Barnes never say die influence in the dressing room…
There will come a time when VK is going to have to ask some serious questions about how much is youth and inexperience, how much is lack confidence and how much is lack of backbone.
Still think we will suddenly click and kick on, but the sooner we get that moral boosting win against an established Premier league side the better.

Re: REPORT: Bad day at Brentford without a drumroll
We have the second lowest XG in the league and are averaging less than a goal a game. We don't create anywhere near enough chances in my opinion.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 4:03 pmGood article.

Re: REPORT: Bad day at Brentford without a drumroll
On the matchday thread I said we had no leaders andvwere powder puff soft. Teams must love playing us as we aren't physical or aggressive. TBH when you look at us when we line up it is always men against boys.
Stan had a saying it's not the size of the dog it’s the size of the fight in the fog that's important. Sadly our dog trait is one of a pampered poodle with sore paws that's just been to the vets to have it's teeth out and nails clipped.

I was looking forward Everton in the cup but this soft touch has me thinking Dyche and a physical Everton could have a field day.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 6:49 pmRemember thinking something along those lines when we got Lincoln at home in the FA Cup but I totally agree with your premise. Tarkowski and Keane on set pieces against our defence.....shudder
Re: REPORT: Bad day at Brentford without a drumroll
Personally, I think we'll see exactly why Muric should be starting. We need his presence and confidence. Hopefully Zaroury also gets a chance and reminds VK why he earned the right last season to be starting.

writing as been on the wall from last few games we have played against whoever because there's no fight in the team or leaders on the pitch and if something doesn't change quickly then this season is over .

Re: REPORT: Bad day at Brentford without a drumroll
T your well written report reflected all that I saw, I got soaked after the game making it a truly miserable day having come up from Cornwall to watch it. I’m still drying out.
Just one thing in the first few minutes we had a call for a penalty but this was ruled out by VAR. Looked like a penalty to me, but then I seem to see things that VAR doesn’t.

Re: REPORT: Bad day at Brentford without a drumroll
Well we are heading for 29 goals scored 97 conceded on the first 9 statsCrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 4:03 pmGood article.

Been nowhere near points in games lost 3-0. 3-1 5-2 1-0 2-0 4-1 3-0
Lost just one game by a single goal against Utd
We are being murdered in most games due to dreadful defending
Isn’t Mike Jackson our defensive coach
Wasn’t VK a defender
We shipped 53 goals in 2021-22 and is it 23 in 9 thus far?
I haven’t seen us defend anywhere near as well as we have done in the past under Dyche and like it or lump it we will be comparing SD with VK and am happy to use 14-15 season as comparator when we shipped 53 goal but only scored 28 goals
I cannot see how our present style of playing from the back with the squad we have producing the results we need to get say 36 points or 32 from 29 games
Re: REPORT: Bad day at Brentford without a drumroll
Defending starts further up the pitch and this is where we are losing games. Teams are finding it too easy to play through us. I hope Vincent starts Cork on Saturday. Age is starting to catch up with him but he is a better option alongside Cullen.mdd2 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 11:53 amWell we are heading for 29 goals scored 97 conceded on the first 9 stats

Regarding the actual back four or five I will be a lot happier when I see Ekdal and Beyer together. Im not sure about the goalkeeping position at the moment. Trafford had a decent game on Saturday apart from that scary moment where he nearly lost the ball. Perhaps it’s time to give Muric a few games now as he has a greater presence between the sticks?
