Fans sinking to a new low.
Fans sinking to a new low.
Just when you think football fans can’t sink any lower ,some of them manage to do it ,we’ve had the supposably nasty song about Jack Walker ( I’ve never actually heard the words ,and don’t want to),we’ve had the plane incident from some of our fans and I can understand the point they were trying to make but that’s for another day ,and we were absolutely hammered by the media, and Ben Mee apologised ,however City fans take the chuffing biscuit ,the dreadful song after the Munich air disaster, and now their singing ‘Bobby’s in a Box’ ,I really think they should be highlighted to see if anyone has the whit to apologise.

Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
There should of course be an apology, but i think there is a lot to be said for ignoring them and starving them of the attention that they clearly crave

Don’t seem to hear of anything like this in any other sports.
Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
How is it that it only tends to be football fans who are so vile.
Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
The Manchester Derby this weekend as well isn't it?

It’s hardly new
Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
It's not nice but it isn't a new low by any stretch of the imagination. The Hillsborough songs, Bradford fire songs, the songs about the Leeds fans who were murdered in Turkey the Munich songs etc, are truly vile.

Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
I always remember the night Matt Busby died. Leeds were at Fiddlers on sky and the Leeds fans totally sbused the minutes silence. Gordon Strachan, who had played for ManU was utterly disgusted and I was prayibg for him to walk over go them and make them observe a minutes silence or he'd walk off.
Sadly it was in my dreams.
Utter **** from Citeh fans.

We have several songs sung at most games regarding Jack Walkers death which to be honest is boring now, what I don't get is a lot of it is lads under 20 who won't even have any idea at all about Jack Walker, they won't even of been around when Rovers were half decent.
Sadly in football it'll always happen, Manchester derby couldn't of come at a worse time
Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
I think the Munich disaster song sung to a Christmas song is definitely the the most abhorrent I’ve heard ,I only started watching football around 1957 and can remember Munich ,but wasn’t aware of what the City fans were singing .
Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
Because although they would have you believe otherwise now they have the Sheikh, Pep and are the ‘greatest team ever’, they have an absolute abundance of cuntish fans.
Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
Sadly will hear it on sky sports at weekend too
Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
Brain dead morons - all that sing those songs.

Let's not rewrite history and pretend all has always been well in our rose garden. Football arracks arseholes, and we have more than our fair share too.

That should be 'attracts'.
Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
I think I alluded to that in my OP.Clovius Boofus wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 12:33 pmLet's not rewrite history and pretend all has always been well in our rose garden. Football arracks arseholes, and we have more than our fair share too.

Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
Hibs fans were at it at weekend thinking it was amusing cover seats with "66" "IRA" & "Lizzie is dead" amongst others. They even had stickers made up mocking stairway 13 when the Rangers fans died.
It's' wrong we have to share the planet with these type of people let alone have them attend football.

Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
My point is that unfortunately it's not a new low - as your thread header states. Yes, it's deeply reprehensible and unforgivable, to put it mildly. However, chanting about the killing of 116 children and 28 adults at Aberfan, is just about as low as it can get, and by a long chalk too.

The fact that there is even a term that exists now for ‘tragedy chanting’ is mind boggling for all the wrong reasons.

Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
Back in the day (the 70s/80s) the authorities and society seemed to accept the Munich Song, the Auschwitz Song etc. Almost certainly because football wasn't in the public eye as much as today and also because of the PC nature of today's society.
Fortunately, football in England has moved on for example with racism.

Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
Bill Kenright died today no doubt they’ll be some Scousers making inappropriate remarks.
Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
I never said we didn’t, but the shite that comes out of their mouths would make you believe they were Self Righteous FC.Clovius Boofus wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 12:33 pmLet's not rewrite history and pretend all has always been well in our rose garden. By public eye, you mean social media. Like it or not, I think social media is softening our mentality.ecc wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 4:51 pmBack in the day (the 70s/80s) the authorities and society seemed to accept the Munich Song, the Auschwitz Song etc. Almost certainly because football wasn't in the public eye as much as today and also because of the PC nature of today's society.

It’s always happened as has been mentioned before. But times and attitudes change.
Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
It's not particularly accurate geographically either. If Aberfan is near Cardiff, then Burnley is East Blackburn. That's about half the distance. Hence its just about them being welsh, and that's just plain racist.Clovius Boofus wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 3:43 pm, chanting about the killing of 116 children and 28 adults at Aberfan, is just about as low as it can get, and by a long chalk too.
Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
Perhaps they can make it a joint one for Charlton and Francis lee. That might defuse things a bit, otherwise you'd assume that there would be retaliatory songs from the small portion of man u that makes a noise at home that isn't clapping or booing.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 8:44 pmAye, at Old Trafford.
Thinking they'll probably have a minutes applause for
Sir Bobby.
Re: Fans sinking to a new low.
I think they’re having a minute’s applause at OT to try and minimise any nasty chants.
