Re: Matthew Perry
My girlfriend obsessed with friends in its heyday so much so I hated the whole cast and the music to the show sent me into a state of panic … Having said that very unfortunate end … RIP

Brilliant in Friends, which is still my favourite multi season tv show
Always seemed to struggle with his own personal demons though

Very funny guy, and unusually for an American, a master of sarcasm.
Very good in Friends. RIP

Re: Matthew Perry
So sad that someone so outwardly hilarious was clearly so sad. Me and my wife read his autobiography a year or so ago and he had so many well documented issues with drug abuse (painkillers mainly, Xanax, Vicodin etc) as well as alcohol that you can’t help but think that he may have simply fallen asleep in his hot tub for this to happen.
I absolutely loved his portrayal of Chandler, easily my favourite of the Friends and that show was like the background noise of my youth. A warm, comforting programme that you could watch a million times and still laugh at. It’s really weird how a celebrity death can hit you, had a few of them but this one feels really sad to me. RIP Matthew.

Re: Matthew Perry
I agree something has obviously occurred in his final moments in the hot tub .. drinking perhaps and nodded off zzz I understand how people were drawn to friends .. 4 young good looking people living together in harmony all having a laugh .I find it irritating in American shows how the recorded laughter laughs at nothing ..jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 7:52 amSo sad that someone so outwardly hilarious was clearly so sad. Re: Matthew Perry
How he lasted so long is a true miracle, his booze and drug intake was simply staggering .Very candid autobiography too, where he’s very clear about the real him .
As someone who was not a teenage girl I’ve never watched Friends per se , but he clearly made many millions smile so his passing will clearly touch many many people .RIP

I admired his appearance on some panel discussion show about drug courts in America. He is debating Peter Hitchens.

Friends ran from 1994 to 2004 so was a big part of my formative years.
As others have said, it's a great show to just shove on, even if just in the background.
RIP to a very talented actor.

There aren't many "stars" who I'd be truly gutted when they pass but this one got me. I read his autobiography and knew he had many, many issues but he was a true legend in his acting career.
So, so sad.

There's a massive problem with ketamine in Padiham and Burnley, as the 'new in' drug.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 10:11 pmDeath was a result of “acute effects of Ketamine use”
I presume it will be nationwide as drug trends seem to go.

Re: Matthew Perry
Ketamine has been around for a while as a recreational drug. It’s also an essential medicine, used in anaesthetic. It’s less recreationally used in the US and (I believe) is available on prescription in certain situations so perhaps full facts needed first about this one.

But I'd say drugs on a whole is rife, I'd guess 50%+ of party goers use some sort of drug on a night out, and depending on the venue you can probably make that 75%+

Ecstasy then Cocaine where the in drugs for a while, but when speaking to someone about the problem with teenagers hooked on ketamine in the local area. They said it was everywhere and very popular now.
It's bad news.

Re: Matthew Perry
It's been about for years but certainly more popularly now. It's cheaper than coke, not quite as cheap as methedrone which was popular, does seem to be the in thing in clubs. Unlike some party drugs (something that sedates = party ) the negative health affects after longterm/heavy use are known and slightly worrying. Not sure how many are 'hooked' on it, it's not got the addictive qualities of a number of more worrying drugs.

Down in Padiham I'm seeing friends and relatives lives being ripped apart through Ketamine.I know kids that have been taking it since they were 13 and 14 year old and now are seeing massive health problems through using the crap.Whoever deals this crap to kids needs long sentences if ever caught but I doubt both these things will happen

Re: Matthew Perry
Use of Ket has been steadily increasing for years now
It’s a horse tranquilliser, so easy enough to get hold of
I know a few people who’ve just tried it and I’m aware of several addicts
Quite why you’d want to be wiped out on the stuff I’ll never know but then again I’ve never done recreational drugs
