Does that apply to signs too?
I'll be glad to never see one of those stupid "can I have your shirt?" signs ever again.
Mind you, the way we're playing, no one will want the players' shirts anyway!

Re: Flags and banners
I have a mate who's a Preston fan (for his sins) and the fans there did this off their own back via crowdfunding and personal expense and have made some really good stuff for Deepdale. Yes, it has made no difference to their success per se because (contrary to Russell Ball's bizarre insinuation that the crowd is at least partially culpable for how poor we are doing) the reality is that it is what is ON the pitch that matters. Even still - I think it would be great for the club to engage with Supporters Groups, fans via Twitter/X and other social media plaforms, Up the Clarets for that matter and try and get some uptake for the fans to produce this type of stuff.
Very poor of the club to instead try to monetise something like this - I assume they were also going to make the fans pay for a drum and drummer?

Maybe those kids holding up can I have your shirt mean it literally and its a subtle way of saying gimme your shirt and I'll show you how to play in it,to be honest picking 11 from the crowd really couldn't do any worse than the current lot.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2023 11:04 amDoes that apply to signs too?

Re: Flags and banners
Not sure if I'm just cynical but I think it's the case that fans that want to create atmosphere are more likely to bring banners and flags, not that bringing banners and flags makes fans create atmosphere.
I'm glad the club aren't trying to improve the atmosphere in ways that make the experience worse any more but can't help but feel they're trying to do something they just can't.

Re: Flags and banners
I think the OP is misconstruing the messaging slightly though having now read the article - key point here below:
Supporters can also purchase approved flags from the Clarets Store in a range of Burnley FC branded designs.
Please note, due to health and safety measures and to ensure proper respect for others, only approved flags purchased from the Clarets Store or secured in the stadium giveaway will be allowed into the stadium.
Following guidance from the Premier League, supporters attending matches are not currently permitted to bring Israeli or Palestinian flags into Premier League stadiums.
Reads more to me like you can either buy a flag from the store OR get one of your own signed off to install securely?

Re: Flags and banners
The worry is that the powers that be at the club clearly think that something is lacking at Turf Moor.
They are coming up with suggestions and whilst we are playing like we are then the reaction from many fans will be to ridicule any of this stuff. If we were playing well and getting results at home then fans would either take some of this on board or more likely just feel a bit apathetic about it.
There is only one thing that is going to improve the atmosphere at the Turf….and that is what the players do on the pitch. It will not work the other way round that players will be inspired to play well by flags or drums. Even if we bring this stuff in and the atmosphere is fantastic before the kick off it will dissipate within seconds if we struggle like we have been on the pitch.
This isn’t a Burnley thing either - the atmosphere at Old Trafford and plenty of other grounds is non existent when the teams are underperforming.

Re: Flags and banners
The reason flags and banners REQUIRE fan input and development is to ensure they are not generic Poundstretcher shite like that. Banners with specific players, notable song lyrics, nicknames and so on give at least a semblance of something unique made with passion and love.

I can’t believe many will fork out £15! Entirely possible there will be just the 200 freebies in the ground the first game half that the next…
As someone has said above, whilst I suppose they are making an effort they do need to get realistic. In the current circumstances some bits of overpriced synthetic fabric are not going to make one iota of difference to the atmosphere.

Re: Flags and banners
The whole point of a flag is to wave it around, these painted bed sheets without a stick their selling are only good for flapping around just like the team at the momentVincent'sCap wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2023 11:22 amScreenshot_20231102_111928_Facebook.jpg

Re: Flags and banners
The board must have spent quite some time on this with their new policy.
"the introduction of new measures," and " only approved flags purchased from the Clarets Store...allowed".
Next it'll be flashed up on the big screen to 'wave your flags now'
The game has officially gone to the dogs.

Are they holding a gun to your head making you get your purse out?
I get a season ticket, which I've done under every ownership, and only spend extra if there's something I really want, so they don't get a penny from me that I don't want to spend

If the flags shown above are really on sale they are absolute sh*te. Would prefer a drummer. Nothing will lift the atmosphere until we get some basic organisation on the pitch and at least a sense of improvement

Burnley prices were frozen for years so that comes from a low base (even after 3 years of price rises under these owners) and is based on a selective choice of figures
it will be interesting to see the pricing for tickets (and indeed memberships) next season - will season tickets sell out before March this time?
I know people who have chosen not to go this season, decision made before the season began) because of the price increases and membership scenario - they have the financial means, they just feel the increases are unreasonable and that punters are being overly squeezed.

The small increase in season tickets is a weak excuse, they need to be looked at over a period of time, where they've been the cheapest around, and still are even with the increase.

It’s like a comedy sketch , bring in flags and banners to boost atmosphere , oh erm make sure they’re from the club shop or you’re not getting in
I know the club are trying but the same people who have ultra sanitised prem football now want some atmosphere back . They’ve removed all spontaneity from the game , don’t bring this /that in , don’t sing that , report anything you don’t agree with , sit down , and ffs don’t bring smoke of pyros in…
