Re: Clapping the player's off today
For some it’s all about showing you’re with them, personally I cba and left on 88 to beat the traffic.
I admire those that do though and agree it’s probably what we all should do.
No lack of effort, played ok to be fair, just no where near good enough

If they've played well and put in a shift I'll applaud them.
If they've been shite and just going through the motions then I won't.
It's really not difficult.

Re: Clapping the player's off today
Not sure they deserved clapping off but perhaps its to try and lift the team morale, show a bit of unity, instead of passing on negative vibes. Yeah inside we are disappointed...But there are some young players who have been thrown into the deep end of the PL here.
Anyways its down to personal choice, freedom of expression and all that....OK

I clapped them off. I was disappointed with the result, but I thought we played much better and probably deserved something from the game. Certainly don't understand the booing.

Re: Clapping the player's off today
Anything but clapping is counter productive. We were ridiculously frustrating today but it’s not for a lack of effort that we somehow conspired to lose.

You only have to see Oderbert's response on social media to a Burnley fan to understand why support if never counter productive.

Yeh you’re right the fans should be calling them wankers and telling them to **** off like they have been doing in certain away games . That’ll build their confidence and make them feel like we are in it together .
Seriously come on.

I left as soon as the second goal hit the back of the net.
While walking out I actually thought I should have stayed and clapped the effort of all the players today.

I ALWAYS do it and have done for years and years, but today I couldn't be assed. And I actually thought we were in many ways unlucky and could have got so much more out of the game, but we didn't (AGAIN!) and I've had enough.

Re: Clapping the player's off today
For me it’s because it’s a very young side more in need of encouragement than ever. I suspect indifference or booing won’t help.
Clapping them won’t make them world beaters, but it might show we’re still with them.

If they put the effort in they should always be applauded off. I did think we put the effort in today, too.
That being said, if we were playing for another 90 minutes we still wouldn’t have scored. It was another easy game for our opponents.

Re: Clapping the player's off today
This is very subjective when fans pay significant fees in ticket prices and huge costs in getting there. Personally I am against booing and will always appreciate effort, but after 4 points from a possible 33 you have to accept it starts to really depress fans. Its not made easier when you go to Brentford, where we were again poor and only one player (Josh) is prepared to come over and applaud us at the end of the game. Even sadder when the manager does not herd them up and instruct the players to come over. Its at times like that you reflect how much those players are on, regardless whether they win or lose, and then you look at the size of some families that have travelled alongside the high ratio of retired people. Think theres improvement potential from both sides
Re: Clapping the player's off today
Didn't clap
Didn't boo
Stood their in disbelief that we keep doing the same thing over and over again.
We look an average championship outfit at the moment, which obviously doesn't help when you're playing average championship players.
They get a clap if I see effort, desire and fight.
Today I did not.
We seem to lack leaders , and players with the attitude or b0ll0cks to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and look like they want to impact the game.
Looks like A dressing room full of inexperience, nievity and individuals not really sure what the plan is.
Very robotic at times and a lack of movement off the ball.
So for those that clap fair enough, for those that boo fair enough.
Everyone has their own standards or reason as to why they choose to do either.
For the 4th game in a row sadly my minimum requirements wasn't met to warrant an applause.

No matter what we always stay to applaud the players off. I was taught from an early age when we were in the lower divisions to do this and respect never mind the result they are trying and they take take the time to applaud you after going through that match so respect where it’s due. I now pass the same learning down to the 3 generations who attend with me. I think it right

Re: Clapping the player's off today
It was disappointing and frustrating today but we have to remember that players such as Trafford are extremely young, and he is behind a chaotic defence that is never made up of the same players and midfield and strikers who aren't scoring to ease the pressure on him.
Remember they are human despite the mega salaries, they are also following the tactics as directed by the manager.
Re: Clapping the player's off today
I will also claim that the OP sounds a tosspot,I’ve been extremely frustrated watching Burnley this season. But when they play half decent like today and give there all like today it earns respect from me personally. We was unlucky yes we look a bit toothless but it was a positive imo. We certainly didn’t deserve to lose we give them the first goal the 2nd just happens at that stage of matches.utc

I stay and clap them off every game.
I appreciate that makes me a minority (as evidenced by the empty stands when I’m doing it), but as long as I think they are trying hard and giving their best, I’ll keep doing it.
I see nothing to suggest anyone out there is not trying their best at the moment. We’re suffering from lack of experience and physicality, yes, but not effort.
The OP is a complete disgrace in my view. We don’t need “fans” like these.

Re: Clapping the player's off today
I felt sorry for the players at the end. Its not their fault they've been assembled without really thinking about how this works as a whole. Not is the system or the team selection or the use of subs their fault.
Today I really questioned if Vincent is the right man or not.
Last 3 games were all as winnable as you can get in this league - I think we should have been expecting at leat 3 and probably more. We've got zero.
So far this season we have failed to come from behind a single time, ven for a oart of a game, we've chucked away 11 points from winning positions.
