Arsenal want urgent action on refereeing standards
I don't remember Arsenal demanding urgent action on refereeing standards a few years when when they scored the winning goal at Turf Moor when:
1. The corner which led to the goal was not a corner.
2. The corner was taken after the period of added time.
3. The corner taken was a short corner (giving the referee a chance to blow the final whistle)
4. The goalscorer was offside
5. The goalscorer handled the ball
Otherwise the Arsenal goal was apparently a perfectly good goal given by a highly competent referee (pre VAR!) so no urgent action on refereeing standards required

He was as competent as VAR is.

I’ve got no love for those gamesmanship specialists from North London, however VAR currently is not fit for purpose. It’s not the infrastructure, it’s the inept people interpreting it.
The Premier League is fast becoming a farce. You can almost flip a coin to guess the verdict. Nobody knows anymore. Root and branch personnel changes need to be made, otherwise scrap it for the time being.

The urgent action required is for the infantile behaviour of managers on the touchline.

I don’t even think they’ve got a case. The only thing the VAR potentially got wrong was the foul on the defender, but that would have been soft.

Re: Arsenal want urgent action on refereeing standards
don't say what actions they want do they, typical 5 year old rant, I'm not happy but have no positive suggestions to say what might improve.
Making public comments like this undermines the officials and creates further opportunities to make negative statements.
Arteta won't make a fuss when it goes his way and the press won't hold him to account when it does, no one will say to him how disappointed he must be that a referees decision has given him 3 points.
Do they really believe these decisions are anti arsenal?

Classless from Arsenal as usual. There’s nothing wrong with the goal accepting that the foul could go either way. Good job they haven’t had decisions like ours at Forest and Bournemouth to contend with. Let’s see if it softens the authorities nicely for our visit to the Emirates where we have been on the ar5e end of a whole load of dodgy decisions down the years. I suspect we are due some more.

Re: Arsenal want urgent action on refereeing standards
horrible club. arteta is using this to get favourable decisions in future games and make officials wary .
as mentioned above, they aren't too bothered when clear and obvious faults permit them to benefit.
And there are countless examples of how they gained points against numerous teams when they have cheated.
sour grapes from them and their clown fanbases on social media. i would advocate a ten point deduction immediatley just for them being arsenal.

Agreed. I preferred it when they got it wrong in real time. No hanging about, no sucking the momentum out of the game. Just let them make the decisions on the pitch. If they get it wrong, at least it will be quick.Jamesy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 9:56 pmI’ve got no love for those gamesmanship specialists from North London, however VAR currently is not fit for purpose. Goal line technology works well because it's black and white and not down to any individual's interpretation. The rest should be binned off. It's a waste of time.

Re: Arsenal want urgent action on refereeing standards
Arsenal have always been a team of cheating whining bxxxxxds. Now VAR is against them they boo hoo and critise refs who actual punish them with free kicks. That said the ball was nearly in the stands before Gordon played it.
To quote Keegan " I would love us to beat them"

They've implemented Arteta's demands if the ref gives a devision Arsenal don't like.

Not that I’m disagreeing with the overall post but on points 2 and 3, the added time is always stated as a minimum which makes them two points void. The rest though absolutely.

Just as a side point to VAR. The whole thing needs binning. Everyone knows it needs binning, the vast majority cannot stand it but the big wigs at the top carry on regardless.

Add to that the Ramsey "Superman leaving a building" act for the penalty they got against us at the Turf and the Ben Mee incident late on at their place late on in the game
Re: Arsenal want urgent action on refereeing standards
I don’t like Arsenal but I agree, the standard of refereeing is appalling, VAR making it worse. An all time low and it’s killing the game.

Re: Arsenal want urgent action on refereeing standards
Don't forget the penalty they got at the Turf when Tarkowski touched one of their forwards on the shoulder and he went up in the air as though he had stood on a land mine. Or the blatant shove on Kevin Long at the Emirates that was a clear penalty but not awarded. Then we had Vydra flagged for offside when he was played in between 2 Arsenal defenders and was clearly onside. And the Arsenal third that day was offside but not flagged.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 9:35 amNot that I’m disagreeing with the overall post but on points 2 and 3, the added time is always stated as a minimum which makes them two points void. We seem to have had more than our share of poor decisions against Arsenal over the years.....

I don’t disagree with you that Arsenal have had favourable decisions. I can’t have any sympathy for them but anything that puts pressure on VAR for me is a good thing because it needs to be binned.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 10:13 amDon't forget the penalty they got at the Turf when Tarkowski touched one of their forwards on the shoulder and he went up in the air as though he had stood on a land mine. Back to the old days of Bobby Gould they've always been into gamesmanship and blatant cheating.Diving for penalties ,a speciality of former players Ramsay and Walcott
Areteta has taken Arsenal wining to a new level of late.
