Re: January transfer window rumours.
I get both points, but he's had long enough of the season to get a pretty good level of fitness and has featured on the bench, so what's the point if vk has no intension of playing him, especially when as I say neither of the 2 I've mentioned have shown any reason why they should be any further up the pecking order than him, also a similar sort of issue going on with zaroury /tresor, but I believe zaroury and Benson are best played together, threat of quality on both sides, very difficult for teams to 2 up on both sides for long periods of the game.

We’re in all likelihood going to be playing at that level next year and he is a very good, experienced Championship player.
If you anticipate Amdouni having a good second half of the season and potentially losing him, having O’Hare and Twine competing for the 10 role would be good.
Leicester and Southampton also allegedly interested so maybe we’re trying to leverage our current PL status to tempt him?
I don’t think Coventry will sell now, so an alternative view is that it’s posturing given we’re likely to be swapping places with other teams that are interested and presumably want to sow we’ve had a long term interest in him.
Or it’s just made up.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
I'm not sure tbh.
People keep telling me the likes of Tresor and Amdouni are going to be off but I don't see anyone taking them at the price we're going to want for them. Absolute best case scenario those lads could hope for is a season on loan somewhere where they get in form and get themselves a transfer that works for them and us at the end of it. If that happens it makes sense.
If that doesn't happen they're going to be slumming it with the rest of us and then it makes no sense.

It just seems a strange signing giving the holes at full back and cm

I don’t see anyone saying Tresor will be off Hopefully we’re not obliged to buy him if relegated though.BigGaz wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 12:18 pmI'm not sure tbh.

Amdouni I think it depends. If he bags 10 over the season I think there will be suitors in a relegated team. Everyone knows he’d score more in a better side. But from our perspective maybe a loan to another Prem club would work best to give him the experience, I agree. Our issue is lack of experience at this level and I wouldn’t be against that for one or two of our young but inexperienced players.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
I've seen a few, though perhaps I should've said Berge or Better for a clear example.
I see what you mean about Amdouni but unless he finds a willingness to graft and get involved in different transitions of the game OR finds a team in the PL that is willing to give him less responsibility for defending from the front then I don't think he's a Premier League footballer.
That's not to say I don't think he's a good footballer, but at this point his style seems more suited to a league where the playing style is less quick/chaotic

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I honestly don’t think we’re in a position to just dip in to the market and buy premier league ready players for those positions.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 12:21 pmGood point could be a signing with next season in mind.

They’re few and far between, they cost a shed load, we’re probably not wanting to take big risks on players and we’re not a very attractive prospect at the moment.
Not saying we’re not looking, and loans are the obvious solution (I’m not really a big fan of displacing our own players with loans, mind) but I think there’s an element that may be “pick up what you can get” in this window.

I've seen this mentioned a few times R:E Tresor, can someone clarify but I thought we had actually signed him now? I could have swore we turned him permanent just after the window closed?NewClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 12:24 pmI don’t see anyone saying Tresor will be off Hopefully we’re not obliged to buy him if relegated though.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I’m not really talking about prem ready players, just ones that are suited to VKs style. If we don’t sign a left back in the next few days we will have gone a whole season with a left back we know doesn’t suit his system.NewClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 12:38 pmI honestly don’t think we’re in a position to just dip in to the market and buy premier league ready players for those positions.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
No, we signed him on loan.
What happened is that a Belgian journalist (respected if I remember correctly) reported that by making 5 appearances we were “locked in” to signing him permanently for £13.9m (if I remember correctly).
What I don’t think we know is whether remaining in the premier league was an additional condition, in which case we may not be obliged to sign him, or not doing so potentially reduces/extends the timing over which the fee is due. I’d like to think we included some protections, personally, but who knows.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
That’s fair enough. I’d like to think we could use our current status to bring in some to develop, yes.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 12:51 pmI’m not really talking about prem ready players, just ones that are suited to VKs style. Although I think “his system” is a somewhat fluid concept atm.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I thought it was widely reported that after his 5th appearance Burnley were under an obligation to sign him permanently which it was also reported we did at the end of October
Though there could be a relegation clause (usually they are in favour of the player though)

Re: January transfer window rumours.
We've already triggered the clause to buy him, according to reports
"The report claims that the transfer of the winger to Turf Moor contained a clause stating that the Clarets would complete the full purchase of the player should he feature in five Premier League matches."

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I could actually see muric being number 1 against next season, as despite his short comings in games I could really see a prem club signing Trafford even as a number 2 because he’s home grown

Amdouni is a good option why anyone wants him gone is beyond me. Ohare would be a good signing perhaps sweeten the deal with Ramsay.

If it’s a good price considering his contract situation, I’d be all for that. I don’t think any signing keeps us up but he would be great for us next season regardless. Sensible business.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Be a decent free signing in the summer, as you could sell him for 3/4 million in the future.
No point now for 2m or so, he's not getting in the side at the minute.

If dewsbury-hall goes to Brighton from Leicester for 30m can see them going straight in for o’hare
