Christmas TV advertising
Christmas TV advertising
Apparently advertisers are spending £9.5 Billion this year on Christmas. Rick Astley , Michael Buble etc no doubt being paid a fortune.
Does Christmas TV advertising influence your choice of supermarket retailer or do you just stick to the ones you use all year round? I suppose they wouldn’t spend that sort of money without any sort of return on the investment but personally it doesn’t influence my spending at all.

Re: Christmas TV advertising
We stick to the same ones we use each week, Aldi and Tesco. I imagine the so called stars doing the advertising are being well paid, hence the £9.5b.

No influence on where we shop here either ... Lidl and Morrisons

Re: Christmas TV advertising
I usually shop where they have the 25% discount on Vino I enjoy the christmas ads but it doesn't make a tad of difference where I shop which ranges from Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi, Sainsburys or Waitrose.

Re: Christmas TV advertising
We all like to think we aren’t affected by advertising, but we all are to a certain extent otherwise companies wouldn’t throw so much money at it.
The online targeted ads are the worst for me, when you’ve looked at a product somewhere and it follows you round the internet for weeks.

I try not to let the TV influence anything in my life.

Same here but with one exception, any company advertising any Black Friday "deal" automatically loses my custom.

These companies also rely on the old (and undoubtedly true) saying that lots of people have more money than sense.

Re: Christmas TV advertising
Don't watch TV with adverts (mostly stream) and use ad-block on Youtube etc. ... so in short, no, it makes no difference to me! Never see their adverts really.

You don't like being served adverts on products that you're interested in. Weird worldclaret2018 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 9:14 amWe all like to think we aren’t affected by advertising, but we all are to a certain extent otherwise companies wouldn’t throw so much money at it.

Re: Christmas TV advertising
I'm already getting fed up with Christmas overkill. I started getting emails for Christmas tat, and food & drink, over a week ago.
Companies, like supermarkets etc, should give you an opt-out like they do with Father's/Mother's Day. I don't mind Christmas, but I hate the commercialisation of it, especially when it goes on relentless for nearly two months.

Re: Christmas TV advertising
Christmas only starts when we see the Coca-Cola advert.
