Trafford- 5. Feel really sorry for him now. 2 great saves, 2 bad mistakes. The cruel yin-yang of football. He's going to be an ace keeper but it's time to get him out of the firing line and give him a break. Even if Muric has a howler or two, at least then everyone goes "see it's not the keeper" and he's restored to the lineup. It's genuinely getting cruel on the lad to expect him to be the main keeper in a relegation battler at 21, and also expect him to be a playmaking sweeper keeper when it's blatantly not his strong suit.
Pretty much sums up my thoughts.

I don’t think Muric makes those two saves to be honest, but maybe not the mistakes either, and he has more presence generally.

There’s no doubt about it in my view that we’ve signed a top top keeper in Trafford, but if we persist with him and allow him to do his on-the-job training in the Prem then it’s clear to me that VK has written this season off.

It seems a strange hill to die on to be honest.

Muric just seems to suit our style a lot more, but above all, I don’t see leaving Trafford in the firing line is best for his development at all.

Trafford 5 - he is obviously a decent GK with good potential, and has been a scapegoat at times (how many more points would we have with Muric in goal?), but he simply has to be more commanding for the 2nd. Goalies get loads of protection so if he’d at least gone for it and missed, half a chance he’d get the foul. Instead he didn’t really do anything.

Vitinho 7
O’Shea 6
Beyer 6 - we look much better with him in the side, but did he lose a header to Saka for their 1st …?
Taylor 7

JBG 5 - he has to score. Can he actually “lace it” properly?
Brownhill 6
Berge 8 - has been a bit sloppy at times but it’s been clear from the start there is a very good player there. CM is (the) one area we’ve upgraded with this signing.
Koleosho 7

Rodriguez 6
Amdouni 6 - he’s got something

I live in London, I was at at Brentford and Bournemouth and I honestly wasn’t sure whether to bother with this even after getting a ticket. But since I have nothing better to do I went along and I was very encouraged. We were pressing, actually defending and getting stuck in (yes, this should be a given). I don’t think Arsenal were at their best but it gave me hope that we can compete, and a few Arsenal fans in the pub after seemed to think we looked useful. I thought the 4-4-2 looked good. We just need to get it right in the two huge home games coming up, especially after Bournemouth’s result.

It’s the correct pronunciation which I had confirmed by the Norwegian member of this board.

Trafford 4 - Not Premier League ready but I also think VK has hung him out to dry with his tactics
Vitinho 7 - Stuck to his task and kept Martinelli quiet
O’Shea 4 - Again another that is struggling at this level
Beyer 6 - Better than last week but the only way was up
Taylor 6 - Solid and again he kept Saka quiet for for the majority of the game
JBG 7 - Defensively and going forward was good today. Unlucky not to score
Brownhill 6 - Bit more involved than of recent and a goal as well
Berge 7 - More like the Sander that we hoped for. Athletic and did very well against top quality midfielders
Koleosho 6 - Was given more of a defensive role but when he turns the afterburners on he’s lightning
Amdouni 5 - Brought a decent save from Raya but I find him a bit lazy and quite greedy
Jay R 6 - Doesn’t look like scoring but was a great help defensively

Brunn Larsen 5 - Didn’t impact a great deal
Ramsey 5 - Same as JBL
Obefami 4 - Maybe should have scored
Odobert 4 - Not enough time to impact

I know VK says he’s not for changing but if we carry on defending like we do we will not only go down but go down with possible record low points and a massive negative goal difference. We set up a little better today but our set piece marking is absolutely shocking.

Trafford 6-some good shot stopping but woeful in commanding the 6 yard box. HE never looks for the quick pass or throw and dithers with the ball. Look at the way Newcastle are developing Pope's game. As soon as he gets the ball he is looking to set up a quick attack, particularly with his throwing. Yet to see Trafford set up a quick attack
Vitinho 7-our most improved player today, contained Minarelli and his pace allowed him to cover the two CH's
O Shea 6-some lapses and ball watching. Appears to be one of the few vocal players in our team though
Beyer 7-some nice interventions and reading of game
Taylor 6-generally kept Saka quiet. Got into some good positions but his final delivery was poor
JBG 6-cant fault his work rate but lacks the pace and finishing required in the PL.Hd a good chance today
Berge 8-our best player, worked hard and good distribution. Our best bits of play come from him
Brownhill 7-we are a better team with him in it.Worked hard
Koleosho 7-very determined run for our goal but we dont use him enough. Showed good feet again today, but reminded us of his poor end product
Amdouini 6-showed flashes of his ability but tries to run through congested areas, and fades in games
Rodriguez6-worked hard without being too effective. Plays very deep leaving no one to leadthe attac

Well then Sander himself must be either incorrect or playing up to our media team when in his reveal video he called himself Sander Berge (pronounced like urge but with a B infront)?

Unless I misheard him of course...

Probably the best performance of the season all in all, but a lack of regard for the fundamentals continues to cost us. Just not good enough in key areas.

Trafford 4 - not a Premier League goalkeeper yet.
Vitinho 7
Taylor 7
Beyer 6
O’Shea 4 - not, nor will he ever be, a Premier League defender.
Berge 8*
Brownhill 7
Gudmundsson 7
Koleosho 7
Amdouni 5
Rodriguez 5

They asked him in an interview just after he signed and he said Berg but it doesn't bother him how it is pronounced.

Trafford 5 - shot stopping decent. Command of box appalling. Still very much learning. Should learn out of the spotlight.
Vitinho 7 positive.
O’Shea 5 not quite at the level.
Beyer 6 missed his header for their first.
Taylor 6 some good defending.
Guðmundsson 7 class
Berge 7 very classy.
Brownhill 7 one for the goal. Worked hard
Koleosho 7 made inroads. Created mayhem in their defence.
Amdouni 6 tried to move the ball positively. Worked hard.
Rodriguez 6 Worked hard and won duels.

Subs were late and made no difference.
Add Muric sharpness and you have a unit.

Trafford All team's we play against have quickly worked out that you can put three on him at corners and set peices boxing him in leaving other player's to freely head or shoot at goal, he doesn't command his box he's not tough enough, Pope, Heaton and Muric go into player's to collect the ball in the air and follow through with arms and elbows when coming back down from jumping, Trafford doesn't do this he doesn't force his way through a crowd doesn't come off his line on set peices in fact he falls over more times than he stays strong, - 4

Vitinho - 7 - one of his better games
O’Shea - 4 - he’s also nowhere near
Beyer - 6
Taylor - 6

Berge - 8* - his best game to date

Trafford 5 - Made some really good saves, and looks good in that department. Poor at commanding his box and coming for the ball.
Vitinho 7 - Looked focussed, disciplined and up for the fight. Ahead of Roberts to start the next match,
O’Shea 6 - Thought he did okay generally.
Beyer 6 - Similar to O'Shea but more composed than O'Shea.
Taylor 6 - Solid.
Guðmundsson 7 - Excellent with the ball, tracked back and covered defensively very well also.
Berge 8 - Thought he was excellent today. Played the Cullen pivot very well, always ready to receive the ball.
Brownhill 7 - Much needed engine in midfield. covers a lot of ground and disrupts very well. Glad he got a goal, credit for having a crack when he could've kept possession and passed it backwards.
Koleosho 7- Looked more involved for longer than he has in any other match. Great work rate.
Amdouni 5 - Worked hard but struggled to get into the game.
Rodriguez 6 - Did the job asked of him. Worked hard, defended from the front and linked up attacking play nicely.

Saw enough positives in the performance that if we play similarly against lesser opposition we should pick up points. Kompany has had his fair share of criticism this season but this felt like he was more pragmatic in his tactics and here's hoping we continue in this way.
