Neck oil is about 6.30 in the black bull, but I can’t say I go there to drink a lot, usually just for food

How much is the cheapest lager?
Not sure but I imagine you'll be struggling to pay less than £4.50.

I'm near Preston and it's over a fiver in the local now for a 'premium' lager like Peroni or Madri

Usually a bit of a shock for the customer when I see them get stung £6.10 in the Bridge down Padiham 😆

Beavertown Neck Oil is half decent for a keg beer. Couple of the McMullens pubs in town have Rivertown Brewery IPA, which at 5.6% is a very decent drop. Helps when the pubs are walking distance from the brewery.

I think it's fair to say Peroni and Madri are at least marketed as 'premium' lagers, compared to, say, Carlsberg or Fosters.

Probably about £6.50 on average now. Although my old school local is still about £4 so that slightly alleviates the pain.

Between £4 and £5.20, if you're going for a top end lager. Even more in the Ribble Valley.

I've seen plenty of CAMRA types championing craft beers and the independent breweries that produce it. It's like a lot of stuff, there's good, bad and indifferent.

Here in Shrewsbury it’s around £4.20 a pint for cask beer in most pubs except the poncey establishments. I drink craft beers also. They are not cheap. Looking at £6 for a low ish 4-5% ABV and up to £8-9 for stronger ones, although these are sold in 2/3’s and 1/2’s also.
Still represent better value than the £5+ fizzy Stella/San Miguel offerings.
Popular craft beers can be, Verdant, Cloudwater, Track, Beak, and numerous other micro breweries. It’s the future …… I’ve tasted it!

Either £4 or £5 (depending on ABV) for a cracking pint at my local in Petts Wood (Kent/SE London). Usually at least six ales on the go, with the board changing daily.

Someone earlier in the thread mentioned government tax. Pint for pint, petrol is about a third of the cost of beer. Crackers.

Neck Oil or similar is about £6.50 per pint in Leeds city centre. Kirkstall Virtuous at my local on Guiseley is about £5.80 but every 10th drink is free with a loyalty card.

Buy from the supermarket or off-licence.

It's cheaper and when you drink it you can avoid people too.

Here in Benslmadena some bars are still serving pints of Mahou/San Miguel/Victoria etc at €1.50 a pint (£1) whilst the norm is around €2.0 a pint (£1.33). I quite often drink bottles of Mahou which is about €1.5 a bottle (£1.0). A pint of John Smiths or Guinnesd varies from €3-4..
The prices here vary massively from the area and location of the bar. English owned bsrs tend to be much cheaper than other natiinalities.
Can I exchange my money where you go please?

You are absolutely right, that's what happens when you try and do mental arithmatic when you are not very good at it 😁. The price of s local pint should be from £1.30 to £1.75, which is still very cheap when I read some of the crazy prices being quoted on here.

It must be a sign of the times when 4.5% ABV is classed as a session beer !!!!

One good thing is that you now come across more craft beers that are under 5% than you used to. But I agree, 4.5% isn't a session beer, at least not in my book. I'd say beers around 4.2% and under are session.

In the craft beer world 4.5% is a session beer. However, a session on craft usually involves drinking a few less than a session on cask.

I actually live in Torrequebrada which is just outside Benalmadena going towards Fuengirola. We have lived here full time for 11 years, though we owned properties in the area for some 40 years. So, after retiring and our kids having flown the nest we decided to give a go full time: we have been here ever since. During the first 6 years I kept my season ticket and used to fly back regularly to get about 10 games a season. Since Covid, however, I haven't been back that often.

I didn’t know this until recently. Think they were privately owned once but hoping now Heineken own them there might be a hope we get it at the Turf as we only seem to deal with giants.

Poretti, which is on the beer jet I think (as a lager), and neck oil as an IPA would be a pair of decent options.
