Re: Sander Berge
Rubbish there’s a reason Sheff Utd didn’t fight to keep him.
Never seen such a big lad as soft and scared to tackle.
What does he offer ?? Nothing is the answer

Our best player today, and in a game where we played well, against a proper PL midfield. He's really good mate.ClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2023 8:42 pmRubbish there’s a reason Sheff Utd didn’t fight to keep him.

I actually think he's the best midfielder we have, but right now that's not a terribly high bar.

Re: Sander Berge
Best player on the pitch today. No doubt in my mind.
Re: Sander Berge
He's out best box to box midfielder, and he's also our best defensive midfielder, and because defensive midfield is an area we struggle with, it makes sense to stick him next to Browhill and not play him as an attacking midfielder where we already have about fifteen options anyway.

comfortably our best player, arguably the best player on the pitch. Shame we didn't get a few more like him that were ready made.

Clearly the best player on the pitch for us today and if you can’t see that, you’ve got to wonder if football is the sport for you.

His best game for us by far. Reminds me a bit of carrick how he’s playing at the moment (without the long defence-splitting passes)Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2023 8:54 pmClearly the best player on the pitch for us today and if you can’t see that, you’ve got to wonder if football is the sport for you.

Re: Sander Berge
Berge appears to have all the time in the world in holding midfield and that is the sign of a class player. We need to find another like him so he can play as a ball carrier. I’ve written before he reminds me of YaYa Toure in the way he lopes around, looking lazy but isn't.
The fact that he wanted to come speaks volumes to the team we have and what Berge believes is possible with it.
I do believe we are miles away from Sheff Utd - regardless of what happens next week. We are playing teams off the pitch and losing, often due to dubious VAR or very minor mistakes, worrying and we may go down but that is better than what they are doing despite the points tally.

Best to come back now with “ha! Got you there didn’t I lads?” And pretend you were just having us on. Then you could just hope we just take it easy on you….ClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2023 8:42 pmRubbish there’s a reason Sheff Utd didn’t fight to keep him.

He was excellent today. It’s a shame he’ll be back in the Championship with us next season if we keep him.

Re: Sander Berge
He is proving to be a class player. By and large he has featured in every game-right now the first player on the team sheet. He has in my opinion benefitted by playing most games and getting a chance to settle in. For me now, we are unlikely to win many games going forward but we need to play players we have recently bought like Larson, Tresor, Obefami,Amdouini. These are the future. People go on about JBG's experience-however he was not good enough for the PL three years ago, and certainly is not know. Rodriguez the same, as he showed again today
Re: Sander Berge
I'll not hear a bad word spoken about JBG, sir. Aside from the odd sloppy touch, he's reliable as hell for what he does, and it must be noted our collapse coincided with his substitution.

OUR SCANDIES ARE MINT IS WHAT I'M SAYING.
JBG - dependable, never disappoints
Berge - pure class
Ekdal - get him in the team
JBL - ludicrously and criminally underused
Viking FC would be five points clear by now had injuries and weird team selection not occured.

Outstanding in the first half but less so in second half imo. That said, I think we're seeing more what the lads capable of the last month or so.

Was superb today alongside Brownhill who gets pelters on here every week, who I also thought was superb today and covered every blade of the Turf..Didn't deserve to be on the losing side for sure..

Re: Sander Berge
He was excellent today, bar his constant headers in midfield which went to no-one and which I believed a really accomplished PL player would have taken down (maybe?)

Re: Sander Berge
Fits in perfectly in VK's style of football. Very allround player with no apparent weaknesses. Leader in midfield. Class on the ball. Top transfer.

Berge reminds me of a young Martin Dobson. Let’s hope he can develop yo a similar level.

Re: Sander Berge
One of the few positives so far this season. A real class act. He makes everything look so effortless with his reading of the game and how easily he protects the ball. His game management is also a cut above anyone else, he knows when to slow the game down and when to time his runs to join the attack.

Re: Sander Berge
Also, agree with the poster who said they wish we made more signings like him. All last season’s squad needed were 3 or 4 players of the calibre and pedigree of Berge.

Re: Sander Berge
Brownhill did play well today & is our best option with Berge.........but that shot he put into row Z about 10 mins from time, when he could have made a simple pass to Zaroury for a tap-in was criminal & probably cost us a win.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2023 9:42 pmWas superb today alongside Brownhill who gets pelters on here every week, who I also thought was superb today and covered every blade of the Turf..Didn't deserve to be on the losing side for sure..

Re: Sander Berge
You’ll hear no JBG slander from me. Works his nuts off every week and is one of the first names on the teamsheet for me. We need him (and we need him for 90 minutes, Mr Kompany!)

Took him a while to settle and get going, but clearly a class act. As stated earlier, our best player by a country mile today, and long may it continue.

Re: Sander Berge
Big fan of Berge and no surprise he's looking immensely comfortable in that deeper more orthodox midfield position. I quite like the comparison above with Carrick although he's clearly got more desire to drive forwards.
He will always have a languid style but I wonder if Kompany will feel he might have done more to atop the cross for the second goal, and to cut out the cross for the first goal. If he can add thar touch of aggression he'll be a truly top class player.
